Just as James was about to give in to his fatigue and drift off to sleep right there on the path, he spotted a girl through the darkness, about his age, with very long dark hair that draped over her face. "Hello," he said to her. "What are you doing out here at this time of night?"

The boy had blonde hair, and brownish-bluish-greenish eyes that I couldn't help but stare at. "I'm just not that hungry, and I didn't want to be around other people right now, so...have I seen you around here before?" She looked at his camp necklace. Two beads.
"Probably not," James shrugged. "I tend to blend in with the shadows." The girl straightened up from her slouched position, and James could see her eyes. They were dark, deep black with hints of flecked gold around the edges ((just roll with it llama girl)). Something about them both startled and intrigued James, and he found himself taking a step toward the girl.
Wow. Something about this boy made Adriana just feel relaxed. She didn't really remember why she was so sad before. "So who's your parent?"
Adriana shifted her feet and looked down. She mumbled something under her breath that the boy couldn't hear.
"Who is it? C'mon, tell me!" James coaxed.
"Tell me yours first." She looked up and stared at him in the eyes.
"My dad's Thanatos. There. Now, please tell me." James pleaded. The girl's demeanor was interesting—sometimes she was loud and forthcoming, but sometimes she was shy. Her goth-like clothing threw him off as well. She didn't seem like the other goths he had met—his brothers and sisters and Hades's children, mostly—sad and hating the world.
Adriana smiled, and her eyes lit up. "Okay, fine. Nyx. That's my godly parent. I suppose you're going to walk away now, right?"
James stared at her. He should've known. Her eyes were dark like the night sky, and flecked with gold—the stars—of course. He supposed he had ought to answer her, but he couldn't force the 'no' out. Finally, he managed to say, "noofcoursenotwhywouldyouthinkthat?" It sounded nothing like how it should.
Adriana looked at him quizzically. She found herself thinking a million things at once. Hmm...I can see he's blushing, even in this darkness. I wonder if he likes me? No, no way. Who would like me? I don't even know his name. I should ask. This reminds me of a time I went to a farm with my dad. They had llamas there. "What's your llama?" Then it was her turn to blush. "I mean what's your name?"
"I'm J-James," he stuttered. "What's your llama? I mean, name?" He blushed scarlet. The girl was bright red herself, and her eyes crackled with humor. "Your eyes are beautiful." He said suddenly, then internally cursed himself. What was he thinking? This girl would think he was a creepy stalker.
Adriana laughed. "I could say the same about you. I'm Adriana. My name means 'darkness'. Fitting, isn't it?" She felt a lot more at ease now. Since James was a child of Thanatos, he could probably understand the whole 'outcast' kind of thing.
Very, James thought, but he didn't say that out loud. Instead, he told her, "I don't know. You seem kind of 'bright' to me." He winked at her.
Is he flirting with me? Adriana thought. She barely even knew him, but she was starting to feel like she wanted to get to know this boy.
"Anyway, I had better be going. See you around." James turns around and starts to walk away. He secretly hoped Adriana would stop him, but he knew it was ridiculous.
"Wait." She didn't want him to go, but she didn't know what to say next. "Do you want to play volleyball with my friend and I tomorrow during free time?"
James turned around, taken aback. "Wha-a?" He swallowed, hard. "Of course." He smiled at her, then waved. "See you then?"
"Sure. See you later." She turned away, already feeling butterflies in her stomach. Adriana couldn't wait for tomorrow.

You would never hang out with me if I wasn't. Cause I'd be so very boring." He did a quick jazz-hand-like gesture, which made snow flurries appear from the air.
" pfffffttttt. You don't have to be a complete pervert to be entertaining." Megan rolled her eyes and grinned.
"You do have a point, Barbie. But being perv sets me apart from everyone else. Name 5 people in this camp who are like me and I'll make you a snow man." He smiled cockily.
She thought for a minute. "OK I got nothing.. damn. " she shook her head.
"Ha. HA HA ha ha!" He pointed and laughed, but almost ran into an oncoming demigod. "WATCH WERE YOU'RE GOING YA TWAT!" He screamed at him. With a look of bewilderment, the demigod shook his head and ran along. "Anyways, you see my point now. Ahhh its nice to be right."
"Good gods. Now he will be close to unbearable" she muttered
"Huh? Did you just mumble something dirty under your breath, Barbie?" He raised an eyebrow.
Megan shot him a look " no. I said 'good gods now he will be close to unbearable'"
"Ohhh surrrreeee." He rolled his eyes.
Megan raised her eyebrows " do you really think I would say something dirty? Think long and hard about that, because I will trip you if you say 'yes'"
Kaleb thought short and easy. "Yes."He ran like his father. Like the wind.
She blinked and chased after him, despite not being as fast as he was " GET BACK HERE YOU B*****!!!!!!!" she shouted
"GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON!" He called, gloating. no way is she going to catch- Then, out of nowhere, gigantic tree trunk flew onto the path. Kaleb saw it happen in slow motion. It bounced once onto the dirt pathway, than another, this time directly over Kaleb's head. He felt a branch snag one of his curls. Then it stopped. He blinked.
"What the hell just happened?"
Megan caught up to him, jumping nimbly over the tree trunk. " I was going to ask you that" she panted " I pissed off a bunch of Ares kids earlier today, but I don't think they would do that " she pointed to the fallen tree
Kaleb looked at her and burst out laughing. "I can imagine all those buff monkeys heaving that gigantic thing all at once. Boy will they be pissed when they see that it missed ya!" He laughed, holding onto her shoulder. "Ah.. nah. Its probably a monster." He said with a defeated look.
She winced " that dragon you mentioned earlier?" She hoped it wasn't. She hoped with all her heart it wasnt
He bit his lip. "Lets just get down on our hands and knees and pray to the bastard in the sky that it wasn't. In the meantime, climb on my back, and I'll take ya back to camp. You're fast, but not fast enough." He smirked. "Come on. Chop chop."
Megan crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously. Finally she shrugged and jumped on his back "MUSH PEASANT!!!!! 'she shouted
Kaleb huffed and took off at 50 miles per hour. Other than the rush of wind in his ears, he could hear trees crashing behind him. He squinted and jumped over a rock. "HEY BARBIE. WHAT'S GOING ON BACK THERE?"

Megan looked behind her. Trees fell like dominoes and she could see many pairs of glowing red eyes " nothing we are just being chased by a pack of untamed hellhounds SO RUN FASTER!!!!!!!!"
"ARRRGGGG I'LL TRY BUT YOUR BUTT IS TOO BIG." He sped up, using short blasts of wind to push him further. Again, he felt the weird sensation like he should be flying and not walking around like a dumb mortal, but he shook it off and continued to speed through the path.
" MY BUTT IS NOT THAT BIG!!!!!!" She shouted, looking behind her. The hell hounds were starting to fall behind. Then one of them disappeared. " and one of the hellhounds just went bye bye" she gulped
Kaleb gulped. "Maybe someone's hunting them." He tried to keep things on a lighter note. "Nah, its not just your butt, its also your boobs." He sped up. The field was almost in sight.
Megan was about to smack him when the hellhound that disappeared melted from the shadows in front of them, snarling. She screamed " KALEB LEFT!!! MERGE LEFT!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!"
"AHHHHHHH S*** ON A STICK!" He tried to go left, but he was already moving too quickly. One foot hit the other, and he tripped. But as he was fall, he raised his palm and hit the dog with a blast of ice. He hit the ground.
