My two favorite reads of the year were...


Eleanor & Park byRainbow Rowell - a touching novel about 2 teen aged "outsiders" finding each other


The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer - an epic novel set during World War II in Hungary, Paris, and other locales -tells of how war tears one family apart

I just read Eleanor and Park. It's fantastic! I second it on the list!

A House in the Sky - A Memoir by Amanda Lindhout. The first half of the book takes you through her childhood and then her years as a young adult backpacking around the world. The second half of the book is the 456 days she was held in captivity in Somalia. I couldn't put it down. A tough emotional read but absolutely mesmerizing.

I totally agree with Eleanor and Park-loved it! I really liked her other two-Attachments and Fangirl.
