This would have been a 5 star novella as literally nothing happened for about 200 pages, but I did adore the beginning and like the ending. The middle? Boringgggg! (hide spoiler)]

So much has happened already.
So, you zoom into Juliette's terrible life because she's been in a cell for 264 days, basically forever. One day she gets a roommate, named Adam, and she's so freaking terrified that he is there. That he is a boy.

There are so many questions going through her mind at this moment:
1. Is she going to die?
2. Is today the day?

No one usually has a roommate, right? Especially one of the opposite sex.

Then there's sort of a flashback about how her family watcher her being taken away. It also shows that they didn't give a flying fuck about it.



I hate her parents. I hope they rot in hell.

Back to the amazing day spa prison.



So the prisoners are sort of let out of their rooms like once a day, maybe. They get to go shower and whatnot but it's not like they get forever. No, it's timed. Everything is timed. Not by hours. No, it's by seconds or minutes. For example, when they receive food, which is also sometimes once a day, they have to wait at least 3 minutes before they can even touch the tray. WHY? Oh, because it will burn the living shit out of your hand if you touch it right away. Also, the food sucks balls.

I feel really bad for Juliette. I hate her family. I sort of don't know if I should or shouldn't hate Adam just yet. I mean, he did betray her...sort of? He's a soldier and he didn't exactly scream that information out loud.

Then there's Warner, who is pretty freaking creepy. He wants her to work with him. To be apart of her team. So Juliette moves from one prison cell to another. It's just that she might be able to get outside that I guess she can consider a pro; however, she isn't free and that's what I really want for her. To runaway. Or to kill everyone.

(view spoiler)[So I have a confession to make: I don't like Warner. I know this will be an unpopular opinion, because everyone ships him and Juliette, but he's not a good guy.

He has openly admitted to manipulating Juliette just to see what she'll do. How is he swoonable???

Also, I think this book could have less chapters/longer Chapters if the author didn't insist on ending every chapter after Warner says/does something that could be considered shocking. (hide spoiler)]

I still think Warner is nuts and I don't understand his obsession with Juliette. What is she to him? But I do love how she sticks up for herself and talks back. Also, I don't like that he's using her as a weapon against his own men. That just seems really weird. I mean, don't they already fear him? Isn't he their leader? Why does he need them to fear her as well? She just wants to be left alone and not be touched by anyone. (hide spoiler)]

Well... I feel like Adam and Juliette's relationship happened super fast. Pretty much 0-100 in .02 seconds. I don't know how I feel about that yet but I can honestly say I'm happy it's not Warner.



Also, WHY THE HELL CAN ADAM AND WARNER TOUCH HER?!? What makes these two guys, who are complete opposites, be the only ones that can touch her without being in pain? I'm so confused. I need to know why.

Oh and they escaped, Adam and Juliette. And Juliette meets his little brother. AND while all this is happening I'm wondering if what Warner said was true. Did Adam really use Juliette just so he could stop being a soldier and leave? Did he? DID HE? Or is he really in love with her? Is Warner in love with or in love with her power?!?

Chapters 31-40: (view spoiler)[Pretty sure I'm in love with James, Adam's younger brother. He is freaking adorable and I can't believe that I'm just now finding out that Adam has a younger brother!!!



Of course I'm totally shipping Adam and Juliette now. I feel like it's pretty genuine between them, not like with Warner. Speaking of the devil, he actually ends up finding them because he put tracker serum in Kenji, who is stupid enough to go to Adam's house. But now I'm freaking out because I don't know what has happened to that sweet 10 year old boy James. And I guess I'm worried about Kenji too, but mostly James.



Then Warner shoots Adam...and takes Juliette into a creepy building. Or maybe he is just creepy...so everything he does with her is just plain creepy?? Plus I actually think he is crazy as fuck. But then he starts making out with her and saying that they can be together because he can touch her now. UGH I'M CRINGING PEOPLE. Then my prayers have been answered because Juliette shoots the crazy bastard with his gun.



Then she runs to go find Adam who looks like he got beat up pretty badly. And now they are off to go find James....and Kenji,

22%: (view spoiler)[Now I know I mentioned how I didn't like Warner at all during the first book.. but this novella is actually making me feel sorry for the poor guy. I actually hate his dad so much. He's such a fucking douche bag.

Even though I feel bad for the guy it doesn't make him less creepy to me. I still think its crazy weird that he dreams about her and how he still sort wants to make her his. I get that he wants to kill Adam now because he somehow wormed his way into Juliette's mind and heart (but seriously they just love each other ..so calm down buddy).

It was weird when he was in her room going through her old stuff but he found the notebook and I don't know how I feel about it. What else did she write in there?!? (hide spoiler)]

44% : (view spoiler)[This is just getting creepier and creepier but it could just be me though. I think it's pretty interesting to get to know Warner more and to see how he views different situations. Especially how he viewed things that happened in Shatter Me.

You find out the real reason why he killed Fletcher because he was beating up his wife and kids. They haven't been fed in days or weeks either. All because he spends his money on alcohol. I didn't feel bad when he died and now I definitely don't.

I still don't like this dad.

Other than that I find it really interesting to read about what Juliette went through and what she thought about while she saw her parents watching her being dragged away. And to read about how prison was for her. (hide spoiler)]

67%: (view spoiler)[Okay so Warner is like seeing Juliette freaking everywhere. It's really weird and I get that it's all in his head. BUT what the hell is with his obsession?!? Why is he so freaking obsessed with Juliette!?!? I need to understand this so freaking badly and I'm so happy that his douche bag of a dad called him out on it.

Now I'm secretly hoping that Juliette, Adam, and Kanji are never found by his dad or by Warner. Why can't he just go play with the dog he found? Go be happy Warner.

Aside from Warner's craziness you do get a glimpse of what is happening around Adam, Juliette, and James. So you find out what Warner was somehow captured (don't know how, when, why, or where though --- so use your imagination, I know I am) and he somehow escaped. I think? It does get a little confusing because I think they are talking about Kenji but really James mentioned that Warner left...

Anyways you see that Adam and Juliette are still together somewhat but they aren't in a strong relationship at the moment. They seem to be drifting apart and I wish that they would just talk to one another and fix everything up. Apparently Adam is dealing with the fact that Juliette may have hurt Kenji... but he doesn't really know if she did or didn't.

Dear Adam,

Communication is a huge part of a relationship. So open your damn mouth and start talking to Juliette.
