I do that also, Patricia. Love to get the discounted price...on anything! :)

Dawn-
I found out that Seduction In Death was "the first book Susan Ericksen recorded, so she didn't have the voices down yet. Since then, she's re-recorded this one more in line with the others." - I'd much rather prefer the re-recorded version, then. Did you read the redone ones?

I think I'm remembering correctly - when Audible redid another of the books, they sent me a new copy. Did anyone else have this experience? MDy

Me too! I just don't get as much from the straight text anymore.

I agree. I now read almost exclusively through audio books. They seem to bring the story to life for me more than visual reading. And narrators like Susan Erickson and Davina Porter, as well as too many others to name, make me feel as if I know each character personally and am living the story with them.

Mara Pemberton (marapem) If only the people who decide on narrators for books that NARRATING is an ART just like acting maybe they would choose better NARRATORS for books.

This is why I like Susan's performance of the In Death series and Katy Kellgren in the Lady Georgie series. They are performing the book, not just reading it.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments Any news on the re-recorded Seduction in Death? Was that the only one being redone?

Jeanine Tucker | 196 comments I love the In Death series on audio and listen to them every day in my car now since I have an hour's commute to and from work each day. The audio definitely adds something, particularly if you get the unabridged versions. Susan's narration is amazing....she truly performs the books and how she does all of the different accents, especially Roarke's incredibly sexy Irish brogue, so quickly, switching from one voice to the other and then to others, I will never know. I bow to her greatness!!! In some series, female narrators don't do very well with the male voices; not true for Susan Ericksen....her male voices are incredible e.g., Feeney, McNab, Leonardo, Crack....wow!

Mara Pemberton (marapem) Susan Eriksen could read the phone book and I'd listen to her do it.

I absolutely love the audiobooks! I get so much more from the books. I don't even read the books in text form anymore since the audiobooks.

One of my favorite voices that Susan does is Peabody!! Just cracks me up every time I hear her. She IS the voice of Peabody for me whether I'm listening or reading while hearing it in my head. lol

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments I to love the audio but I alway find myself reading the new books first. I think part of it is I own them all so each new book I go buy and read and then buy the audio after the fact.

message 67: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Just got an e-mail from Audible. On this longest day of the year, they are highlighting their longest series and In Death was on top!

They even highlight how long it will be if you start the series and listen straight through -- 28.4 days!

message 69: by Vicki (new)

Vicki | 47 comments I keep about 5 IN DEATH audio books on my kindle at all times. Usually about two months before the new book comes out I listen to the whole series again. I try to time it so I finish the last one out just before the new one is released. I am on chapter 10 of DEVOTED right now. Counting down the hours till I can download APPRENTICE.

message 70: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I usually do the same thing, but I am behind...just finishing my re-listen of Delusion.
