You probably all know how I feel! I absolutely LOVE Susan! I'd probably break down in tears if Susan ever stopped doing them. She does all the voices so well. Irish accents, Brooklyn accents, Queens. You can tell by the voice who is talking. She injects all the drama from the book.
She doesn't just enhance the books. She is part of them!

This is the absolute best audiobook. Susan is fantastic and I think it would fail to sale as well without Susan. They would have to find someone who could imitate very well if Susan ever stopped during the series.
Susan Ericksen is a master at her job. I've listened to 5 ID audios and she makes the series for me. If she stopped narrating it, I'd stop listening to it because she's brought each character to life with unique and perfect accents and voice variations. I especially love her Roarke!

Dr Mira. WOW. Now there's a real lady. Her voice is perfectly nuanced to reflect her intelligence, caring and innate goodness.
I agree that Roarke is a standout. I also love her voice for McNabb and his nerdiness lol.

Oh I love when he calls her shebody lol. You know Morris voice changed over the series but I liked the one she started using later in the series. He sounds really relaxed and sexy lol. You are right about Summerset too. All his stick up the ass attitude is done with perfection lol.
You know I also love how she is great at getting the jokes across for each character. That is great timing that some comedians have to work at.

Phrynne, I must warn you. The audio takes the series to a whole other level especially after you hear Roarke. You may not go back to reading it again lol.
I have listened to all the InDeath on audio and Susan is great. I actually listened to the previous narrator, McMurdo-Wallis, who did the first three. I liked her and was surprised when they changed. Susan had to grow on me but now I can't think of anyone else who could do such a great job. She has got Eve's attitude down pretty good. I love it when she says those mixed metaphors, she has Eve's confusion down pat. Eve: You know, the skillet says the pan's the same deal.
Roarke: I believe that's the pot calling the kettle black.
Eve: Whatever, kitchen stuff can't talk anyway.
I also enjoy Peabody and Mavis, just great!
I have only known the version by Susan Erickson and have all the audio version because I started with the audio and so now I can't pick up the book now. It is the only book I buy the audio for. I actually did like the some other audio books when they are done in a similar style to Susan in that they create a voice for each character and can pull off the male voice. I tried one where the person just read but I couldn't get into it.
It's awful when you get one where the narrator tries but can't get the voice right. I have given up on many audio books because of that. Or when they do an accent and it is done badly. Yuck;)

You will love In Death on audio narrated by Susan Ericksen. It really does elevate the series for me. Of course, I loved it the first time I read it in paperback too!

I find women have the issue of not doing a good male voice while a male will read with great technique and the right tones but when it comes to doing the woman's voice it goes down hill. I really like it better when they have a male and female so it helps resolve that problem.
I bought Naked in Death yesterday! It appears I am about to do a reread (or at least a relisten) to the series. That will be a hardship;)

I can consider myself very lucky because I have all her audiobooks, which were presented to me by my cousin! And golly, I just cannot do without them. In fact, some of her voices are so hilarious, that I need to go and rewind, back, just to hear them again, especially her rendition of bimbos. You can just imagine them with their toothy affected voices and even "lithpth" – and I can well imagine, Eve losing her patience with them. Spoiler [remember Silk/Satin who she later calls Polyester definitely man-made!]Believe it or not, this is one talented lady who I am sure is well appreciated all over the world, especially when somebody wants to hear JD Robb's marvelous series!
And all of you out there, do try the audiobooks! They are definite keepers.

I just finished hearing her Nicholas Nickleby, which was amazing.
She does both men and women really well, like Susan.And her dialects are wonderfully done.

at Audible, and WOW. She's very very good. I found her male and female voices and dialects brilliant and I'm an extremely fussy listener...I'm listening to
and enjoying Ericksen's Indian accent! LOL.

I have gotten to experience the quite a few of the later books in audio. I love Susan . I think i am going to have to listen to the beginning books at some point.

For those who haven't listened to all of the books on audio, Susan started recording them almost to the middle of the series, then went back and did the older ones. So the early books are much better done, as she had started to get the characters down. It was weird for me during my first full listen because it seemed like she was losing them to me. Then once you get past those three or four odd books, they are all good. Just an FYI
I've gotten to the point where I just prefer the audio versions. I keep them on my iPod so it's easy to carry around. Susan Erickson does an amazing job with the entire cast of characters. Every once in a while I'll begin to listen to a different author's book and Susan will be the 'voice' -- and I keep waiting for Eve or Roarke to appear.

I’ve listened to all the books on audio at least once, most several times over. I usually read the book, then listen to it. I LOVE Susan and have in fact actively searched out other books she has narrated (books I normally probably wouldn’t have listened to) specifically because I think she does such an awesome job.I get all of mine on Audible at a discounted price since I have most of the kindle versions. However when I don’t have the kindle version I just download the book from my library. Since it shows in my kindle library for the duration of the load when I go to buy the audio version on Audible it’s discounted.
