I'd call it more fantasy than sci-fi. I consider it a paranormal thriller if I had to put an arbitrary label on it.
I also thought Joyland was a better (albeit shorter) novel from him this year though.


I feel like this list is for people who don't actually read science fiction.
How about The Long War(sequel to The Long Earth)?
I'm underwhelmed by this list.

I thought this was an interesting list partly because it was a bit different from the others I've seen. People have been complaining that the same books keep coming up in all the award lists and I saw some titles here that I hadn't seen before. I can't say I've read any of these - I don't really keep up with recent releases much. I thought it was worth sharing.
