WINTER 2013/2014 READING CHALLENGE
Book ideas1) Tree Cover:
When the slip cover of the book is off, there is a tree right on the front cover. (Does this count?) Picture of the cover. http://cdn.sulitstatic.com/images/201...2) Time Travel:
3) E-L-F:
4) Outcast:
5) Island:
6) Flower:
(I may skip this challenge... cause I have along way to get this book in the Alex Cross series still. Unless I can find a different book I want to read.) 7) Best Book Ever:
(this one will probably change once I get to it. ALSO upset about Jurassic Park not being number one nor on the first page as it is the best book ever. XD)The reason why you see so many dinosaur books is because I have deemed this month as Dinosaur Book Month. lol

Thanks again for a wonderful challenge Rachel! You do such a fantastic job with these challenges!! Josh you crack me up! Dino month! Ambitious you are!!
Rachel: Dino Month is really fun!!! Raptor Red by Robert T. Bakker is my first book of this month and man its freaking fantastic. I am unsure if I will finish it before or on the 4th so I dont know if I'll be able to count it. lol.Danell: Dinosaurs are my most favorite things in the world, despite them all being dead. lol. I just had to do a dino month, I have too many dino books that has gone unread for years... the ones I read have been Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Jurassic Park III and Jurassic Park Adventures: Prey, which I am all rereading as well as adding books I haven't read such as Dinosaur Planet, Raptor Red and Dinosaur Tales, to name just a few.

The new challenge looks great. Count me in. I am still between homes so I won't put in my goal until I have access to my computer. I really miss it and reading your comments everyday.

17 hours :O i'm not a fan of long car rides (have traveled by car from jersey to florida). glad you have books to help the time go by.
I put the 1st book of that series on my tbr-thanks for the recommendation.
Have a wonderful holiday Danell! :D
Unfortunately I broke my dinosaur month with reading Nicholas Sparks's The Lucky One... I am halfway through it and it fits the tree challenge part of the challenge. I'll give an update once I am finished with it.
that sparks book must be good to distract you from dinosaur month lol ;)Have a wonderful holiday Josh! :)
Actually the reason why it distracted me from dinosaur month is because, I just bought the movie for my family for Christmas... and I kinda want to read it before seeing the movie.
Today I read the first book for my Winter Challenge. Wilderness A Short Story by Dean Koontz meets task #4 with a character who is treated as an outcast :-)
This is a really easy one for anyone who wants an easy task Wilderness is a 30 page ebook. I plan to read 11/22/63 by Stephen King to meet task #2 with Time Travel.

11/22/63 is an AWESOME book-hope you like it!
Have a wonderful holiday DC :D
I don't have an ereader either - I read it on my computer :-)
Thank You. FYI I will be offline the week between Christmas and New Years Day. I will be visiting family.
I wish everyone a Happy Winter Solstice, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, a Happy New Year and I hope you all had a nice Hanukkah :-)

i didn't realize you could read an ebook on your computer-i'm severely computer challenged lolhave a safe trip dc! we'll miss you :)
I am way behind on technology - I usually don't do ebooks but this one is so short and it cost 99 cents and since it's the Koontzland group read I did it :-)

17 hours :O i'm not ..."
Didn't get much read on the 17 hr drive back. Usually only get to go back home one time a yr, but my dad passed away. Flying doesn't work for us, have to rent a car and drive 6 hrs after that. Just grateful that the hubby is a truck driver and feels he needs to do the majority of the driving, especially in bad weather!
Let me know what you think of the first book in the series when you read it.

glad you're home safe-very sorry to hear about your loss-sending you hugs.
I'm moved in, well sort of.......some of my books will be coming out of their boxes tomorrow. Hooray! I hope everyone has had a nice holiday season so far with family and friends. I know I have despite moving into our house a week before Christmas!

The winter 2013/2014 reading challenge is from December 4th- February 28th.
Rules of the challenge:
read 3 books (or more)
complete 3 tasks (or more)
books can be in any genre
rereads are ok
This winter complete 3 or more of the following:
1. Every December, the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting is a fun holiday tradition in the northeast-
so this winter
read a book that has A TREE ON THE COVER (any kind of tree is ok) (please post the cover)
2. Dec 8th is Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day-
so this winter
read a book in which TIME TRAVEL PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE STORY.
3. December 18th is Answer the Telephone Like Buddy the Elf Day
so this winter
read a book in which the letters E-L-F appear in the title (these letters don't have to be in order)
4. Jan 24-29th is World Leprosy Week-
so this winter
read a book that features a CHARACTER WHO'S TREATED LIKE (OR FEELS LIKE) AN OUTCAST.
5. February 1st is Hula in the Coola Day
so this winter
read a book that is SET AT LEAST IN PART ON AN ISLAND
6. Valentine's Day = Flowers
so this winter
read a book in which the word FLOWER APPEARS IN THE TITLE OR
read a book in which one of the WORDS IN THE TITLE IS A TYPE OF FLOWER
7. Random task-this task counts towards the challenge but is not inspired by the season
I really like gr's listopia-one of the lists is called BEST BOOKS EVER
so this winter
read a book featured on the FIRST PAGE OF THAT LIST
HAVE A HAPPY WINTER EVERYONE! :D
