Félix (habitseven) A leash. Now why didn't I think of that? I guess because I don't have any Janineness.

message 1765: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments You could write a weird little short story based on the song titles there, Janine. Just add a couple of conjunctions and one change of tense.

I am John, the only one with a lion's mane. The boy with a coin. Like boats, I can see getting it wrong. Fat old sun, William, clap your hands for the day I wrote you off.

message 1766: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I've been on hold for ten minutes now with a company that has Lite FM as its hold music. It has been pretty craptastic so far, but the Cyndi Lauper version of I Drove All Night just came on, and I'm OK with that.
Minute 12: INXS Need You Tonight. Again, could be worse.
Minute 15: If you don't answer right now, you will never ever ever answer ooooooooooh...MAKE IT STOP

Speaking of Loopy Lauper, this may be a guilty pleasure but I've always loved the song "True Colors."

In honor of Michigan's upcoming rifle deer hunting season - so important around these parts that Big 3 auto workers are given opening day off - here's the Nuge in full-on carnivore mode, dripping chunks of quivering carcass in tow and a still-steaming gutpile at his feet, political correctness about as far from his wheelhouse as nuclear fusion.

Of course he’s full of shit - still needing the spotlight like tomorrow needs today - but who amongst us could seriously blame him for that? Not I. Loving the sound of your own voice, and in his case, your own guitar, is part of the job description.

I’ll bet some of you just choked on the bong water.

Ministry may be a one-trick pony, but I say that pony is a Triple-Crown winner here.

Gibby Haynes. Rhymes with "insane." Sort of.

Authentic 70's chug, BTO commandeer the assault on your inner ear, grunting, growling, and belching themselves into your heart. Randy Bachman may not have invented the power chord, but he signed the birth certificate (see "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet").

Plug in, tune up, and leave your cerebral cortex at the door.

There was a fair amount of hype surrounding young (he was 16 when his debut album "Pictures for Pleasure" dropped) Austin, Texas wunderkind Charlie Sexton, who shared many a stage with the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

No small surprise then that once producer Keith Forsey got a hold of him, the results sound like the great, lost David Bowie album that should have linked "Scary Monsters" to "Let's Dance." Oh well... At least we got two great singles out of it. And one of the biggest 'do's of the 80's.

janine | 7709 comments i can't seem to find music to fit my mood so i'm giving the mp3 a try.

wolf parade - kissing the beehive
liam finn - remember when
the bird and the bee - phil
noah and the whale - rocks and daggers
band of horses - marry song
andre williams - i don't need marry
the unicorns - child star
david bowie - star man
department of eagles - waves of rye
elbow - weather to fly
radiohead - fog
jack peñate - run for your life
the flaming lips - thanks to you
tricky - pumpkin
the kinks - picture book
bright eyes - a perfect sonnet
gil scott-heron - a very precious time
david bowie - little wonder
the flaming lips - death valley '69
the unicorns - gut stains

that's (for the most part) more like it.

message 1792: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments remember when phil was kissing the beehive? rocks and daggers did the marry song, but i don't need marry. he was a child star, a star man, but almost drowned in waves of rye. it was no weather to fly, fog, run for your life. thanks to you, pumpkin, and your picture book, that perfect sonnet, we had a very precious time. little wonder it was followed by death valley '69, where we were covered in gut stains.

But if it doesn't contain "Headknocker" and "Women," it's not ALL the Foreigner you'll ever need.

And Lou Gramm's "Midnight Blue." Wish I'd written that one...

I think there could be a market for our title stories.
