I'm voting with Halvor. It looks like a few Burroughs series have been combined together.

I am in the middle of Barsoom series. I do not think they have anything in common with Tarzan.

Fixed the series, as it should only contain part 1 and part 2 of the edition(s) published in two parts.

I'm the worst with non fiction series, but those books do seem to have a common style & theme?

Since these are popular novels I'm hoping someone can confirm. Don't appear to have characters in common, I'm not sure about the setting.

These actually do share characters. One of the MCs in the 2nd book is a cousin of one of the MCs of the 1st book.

Hi T.A.,
Next time please post your request in a new thread.

How long is your book in the anthology, and could you provide an estimated page count for book #4?

Ajda | 86 comments Hi,

there is a serie BLANCHE that was published 2 times and the books have different titles although it is 2 x the same story - I was told by the Author that she has bought the rights back from the publisher and has published the books again.
one story, one name of the series, 2 book titles and 2 publishers

Should this books be combined or not?https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=bl...

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2318 comments I think this is an imprint rather than a series.

https://www.goodreads.com/series/2585...

Thoughts?

I also can't get the changelog to open for some reason

Edit; I'm wondering if it is the weird numbering on this series that is causing it not to open.

reviews say that these are stand alone short stories

message 780: by Asteropê (new)

Asteropê (21tauri) | 151 comments I don't know about this series specifically, but books can be "stand-alone" and still be part of a series. It just means the storyline is contained after each book. Most romances are stand-alone, where each book focuses on a new couple and each gets their HEA. But they're still part of a series.

For one book is says in the blurb: "In a magical kingdom far away, there lived cursed princes, warrior women, and mighty magic."

I wonder if they are all set in the same universe/fairy tale kingdom?

message 781: by ☕ Lachgas ♿ (new)

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Olivia wrote: "reviews say that these are stand alone short stories*
Well technically most of my Jeffery Deaver thrillers are stand alones too. Case closed at the end of the book, new one in the next - although they do have reoccuring characters e.g. the detective.
And as it hasn't even to be a main character which is the same there might be plenty of possibilities in a fairy tale...

message 782: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (livka) | 7926 comments All true, I was just pointing out that the reviewers consider them stand alones, and do not mention characters in common, but there is still a slight chance of this being a series.

IIRC I came across one of them with also editions in a different language where nothing was mentioned of "very short introduction" which is why I thought of an imprint...
e.g. dutch edition https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... where the "series" is Elementaire Deeltjes and spanish where there seems to be none https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
And if it's not a series should the "a very short introduction" be removed from the title?

Looks like no characters in common or overarching storyline. You could ask about the setting.

I would vote for no, but I would get opinions from librarians that work regularly with series.

Emily | 17612 comments #801 In response to a request, the first thing to do is ask the person if the books have anything in common (characters, setting) besides the theme. Sometimes it is not obvious just from the book descriptions.

message 794: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) | 530 comments I'm pretty sure these are both collections with only a theme in common (I've done research and can't find anything about a shared world or characters), but I'm still wary about deleting an entire series:

Series of short stories, each by a different author:

This one was deleted several months ago by annob and then was created again a couple of days later:

Linda Cotter (lskywlker) | 18 comments Hello, the author I work for was asking about having this series deleted:
https://www.goodreads.com/series/2730...
The series was never released, and a lot of the authors have decided not to participate in the series/ release the intended books. I don't know if the books themselves can be deleted, but can the series attachment be removed?

message 796: by Emily (last edited Jan 07, 2020 05:25PM) (new)

Emily | 17612 comments #805 You're right, it is not a series. If someone is feeling productive they could remove the outside links from the books' descriptions before deleting the series. (I am working on something else.)

#806 I deleted the series as there were no details on any of the books. The individual authors would need to ask for their own books to be deleted through Goodreads Support, providing the relevant details of the situation.

Thanks, Emily. I’ve been working on getting rid of those links in the descriptions for a couple of days. I’ll finish with the rest of them and let you know when I’m done. Or if it’s okay, once I get them all gone, I can go ahead and delete the series.

How about this other one?

If I get the go ahead, I can delete it as well. Thanks!

You can put Girl Power Collection in the edition field.

Thanks, Emily. I'll delete the series and do as you suggested with the edition field.

Question--I've dealt with several of these collections that are set up as series lately. If the series is deemed "not a series," should the name of the collection be put in the edition field from now on? I didn't realize we could use the edition field for that purpose, so I'm learning something new.
