Kaje Harper | 17377 comments The gay Young Adult novel Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan is one of the initial candidates for the Goodreads Choice Awards in the Young Adult category.

While at this stage you can write in other books to nominate, it's generally the case that it takes a dedicated campaign to get a write-in on the final ballot. Despite there being other wonderful books that deserve recognition, I'd like to see the Levithan get enough votes to continue. So I would urge you to consider voting for this book. It would be very cool to see a book with this topic and this cover win the award for all of GR this year.

You can click on the banner at the top of your homepage to find the vote, or use this link: https://www.goodreads.com/choiceaward...

Now in the Semi-finals, so go vote for it again :)

I loved this book. So I'm headed over there right now to vote for it. I agree, Kaje, it would be cool to see this book continue and win the award.

Tara Spears | 85 comments Even though I had problems with the way David wrote this, I did cast my vote both in the semi, and final rounds. He deserves the win as much as any of the others that made the final.

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments So the book didn't win the category, but it got over 7000 votes. That's a lot of open minds :)

(and the gay romance Lover at Last did win the adult Romance category :)

Rainbowheart | 719 comments Even though it didn't win, that is good news.

Also, two of the other finalists, Fangirl and Out of the Easy have LGBT content.

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments Yes, I think so too. We make steady progress. Or sometimes unsteady, but this book would have horrified a lot of people as a Young Adult award nominee forty years ago when I was a teen. It gets better.
