Can non-librarians nominate a book? Can an author nominate his/her own work?
Any registered member of Goodreads can vote in the Choice Awards. If an author is a member, he or she can vote as well.

Graham, since there are no non-English editions of this book (nor any published before 2013), I'm not sure why you are asking for this one to have its pub date edited.
I've modified the original publication date for Quintana of Charyn to 2013 (US publication).Eleanor & Park also came out last year in the UK and this year in the US, so modified it as well. --- This one is a very popular book, so I hope that the fact that it's eligible this year was considered when selecting the nominees!! (Even though I suspect it wasn't, because the date would've been changed already then, right?)

I'm having trouble with Nenia Campbell's Terrorscape which is eligible, the year is correct, but won't show up. Perhaps because Amazon deleted it?
I want to nominate Calling Me HOme in Historical Fiction but it says it's not eligible. It was published in Februay 2013 so it should be eligible.

The Expeditioners by S. S. Taylor needs to be added as a book that can be voted on for children/middle grades. It was published 12/11/12 but I get an error message saying it wasn't published in the right time frame when I try to add it.
"Breed" by Chase Novak should be eligible for horror as it was published in September of this year.

Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler. Came out in February 2013 yet I got an ineligible message when I tried to add it as a write-in vote.
I'm trying to to write in a vote for Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures by Kate DiCamillo for the Middle Grade & Children's category, but it's saying it's not eligible but it's Goodreads page says it was published on September 24th 2013, which should make it eligible: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
I tried to vote for The Art of Simple Food II, by Alice Waters in the best cookbook category, but got an error message stating it wasn't published in the correct time period; however, it was just published Oct. 29, 2013 -- there is a note on the book's info page stating it was first published in Oct. 2012, but I cannot find an edition with this publication date anywhere and to the best of my knowledge it is a brand-new, first run book: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...Thanks for any assistance/clarification in advance!
Try to add this a choice for Best Book 2013 Humor: He's An Arsehole Anyway (Kindle Edition)Published December 12th 12 by CZK Publishing but says "That book is ineligible. Please try again!" when the book was published after and before the date to qualify so I don't understatnd the problem
I tried to nominate "Beverly Bronte Space Chick" in the science fiction category and got a message that it was ineligible. I think the problem is that no Pub Date was entered, but I can't seem to go back and fill that in. The correct Pub Date for this book is November 1, 2013. Could somebody pleas fix this? Thanks.
Hi, It says Inside Sorrow is ineligible (category: Poetry) but it was published Sept. 11 2013 and should be eligible for a write in vote. Can you please change this? thank you
The book Stuck In The Middle by Lara Frater was published October 18, 2013. It needs to be added to the Goodreads Horror category.
The print edition was published in July 2013. Many of us NEVER read eformats. This should not disqualify a book.
I'm trying to nominate Emma's Secret by Steena Holmes in the Fiction category and it says the book doesn't qualify. On the book's page it says it was published in June 2013 but then beside it says it was first published in 2012, which isn't the case. I know the first book in the series was 2012 but not Emma's Secret.

Whether it's on Amazon should not be relevant, and its pub date has been up since May. It should be eligible, as far as I can see.
Edit: Never mind, I see someone else took care of this one already.

The trouble is that the year needed to be 2012, not 12. Should now be fixed.

I am trying to vote for "Waging Heavy Peace" by Neil Young for Memoir and Autobiography. It was published July 2013.

We are launching the 2013 Goodreads Choice Awards on Monday, November 4, and voting will continue until November 25. Winners will be announced December 3, 2013.
During the Opening Round (November 4 – 9, 2013), voters can use the write-in option for any eligible book.
2013 Eligibility: Books published for the first time in the United States in English between November 26, 2012, and November 16, 2013, are eligible for the 2013 Goodreads Choice Awards. Books published between November 17, 2013, and December 31, 2013, will be eligible for the 2014 awards.
We limit eligibility to prevent books from being eligible in multiple award years. We hope to expand the Goodreads Choice Awards internationally in the future!
This creates a particular challenge for books from other countries (often works in translation) that have original pub dates before 2013, but a new U.S. edition in English in 2013. We will be directing voters who believe the book they want to vote for has an incorrect date to this thread for help.

For these books, we've temporarily changed the original publication year and would like to do the same for any other eligible books requested by voters. Thank you for your help! (Last year, we had about 20 requests.)
