NBRC: Tower Teams Read 2013, Round II discussion
By my reckoning, we only have authors U and X and Titles, O and X. Is that correct, Monsieur Mango?
Barb, what did you think of The Fault in Our Stars. It was well written, but a sobfest. I'm tossing up whether to brave the movie, next year.
Sallie, I'm a Virgin River fan too. Not my usual thing but the place and characters just suck you in. I'm up to Bring Me Home for Christmas- perfect for this time of the year.

If I see the movie, I'll probably wait until it's out on DVD so I can watch it in the privacy of my own home :)
Anyone have a series #13? :D I've got my hands on the X author book I've been talking about, I just need to read a couple of the new release books I have before I can start it *sigh*
I could read no 13 in In Death series.. Should be able to get to it next week. Was somebody reading a J title? I think I may have an O.
Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Was somebody reading a J title? I think I may have an O."I have a J title on my list for December, but I'm not sure how soon I'll get to it. If someone else fills in that spot first, I won't be upset about it :)
Finished Tethers by Jack Croxall 228 pages.I am sometimes annoyed that I just have this need to finish all books I start. It took me 7 days to read this 228 page book as I kept putting it down.

12/5 - finished No Place Like Home (Camilla Randall #3), by Anne R. Allen - 267 pages
fits series #3, N title, A author
12/5 - finished Christmas Bliss (Savannah #4), by Mary Kay Andrews - 294 pages

I wonder if Mango Tango has reached it's target for the tower teams challenge. We must be close if not finished.
Well, if
this
is accurate, we're still about 300 books away from finishing. That doesn't seem right, though, so I hope I'm looking at the wrong thing! Is everyone still tagging their books for this? That would make a big difference ....
I'll do a check and update our team spreadsheet tomorrow and see how far off we are.I doubt we've finished, as we had a LOT of BAPs help push us to third place too!

I know but I don't think I can LOL
It's hard to learn to do, that's for sure! But when you finally do, it's really nice not feeling obligated to finish every book you start :)
Okay, so I've updated our team spreadsheet, based off of what has been tagged to the Mango Tango shelf. I know Sallie has quite a few she's read since she last tagged a book to the mango tango shelf on 11/21, so our total will be a few books higher.Without ANY BAPs, we're at 1100 books before Sallie tags those few extras.
Keep on reading everyone! :)

I just thought about this thread yesterday, Steven, so I'm right there with you. I think one of the books I've read since my last update fills a gap -- the X author -- but I don't think any of the others fit any of our blanks but here they are: 12/10 - The Colony: The Harrowing True Story of the Exiles of Molokai, by John Tayman
fits C title, J/T author
12/10 - Unbound (Booklover’s #2), by Julie Kaewert

12/13 - Blood Eagle, by Robert Barr Smith
fits B title, R/S author
12/14 - A Killer's Christmas in Wales (Penny Brannigan #3), by Elizabeth J. Duncan
fits series #3, K title, E/D author
12/15 - The Trinity Six, by Charles Cummings
fits T title, C author
12/16 - Sky Burial: An Epic Love Story of Tibet, by Xinran
fits S title, X author
12/17 - The Secret of Zoom, by Lynne Jonell
fits S title, L/J author
12/17 - One Imperfect Christmas, Myra Johnson
fits O title, M/J author
I didn't look at the list, so I didn't see that we still need an O title -- but I just finished an O book last night, One Imperfect Christmas! My J title has been put on hold, but I don't know for how long. Didn't someone else say they had a J book on tap?
I said I had a J book. I started Just One Year by Gayle Forman, but I realized that I had forgotten key details of Just One Day, so I put it on hold. Then I had to return Just One Year. I now have both books and will be reading them soon.
Ohhhh, so good to know my memory isn't *totally shot :) So I guess the only letter we need to finish our titles is X ... yikes! Are we going to go for an actual X as the first letter? Or will we cut ourselves a break and take a title that has an X in it?
I say give ourselves a Christmas present and just go for an X somewhere in the title. Is there an actual book starting with an X..(goes to check)
I have one called X-Dames, but I can't read it till after January 1 or I'll mess up my A-Z title plan for 2014 :)
It may be awhile before I get to it, but if we're still working on this when I read it, I'll happily fill in the spot. In the meantime, if anyone else reads a title with an X in it, feel free to claim that line in the challenge :)

fits series #10, C title, S/W author
12/21 - Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen

Welcome back Sallie and Happy New Year to all.I meant to do some dishes today and to take the Christmas decorations down, but what happened?
I started reading Magic Bleeds last night and finished it today around noon.I then went for a walk with intentions to do my chores when I got back.
When I got back I thought I will just sit for a minute before starting and I can read the first chapter of Magic Slays. Now 6 hours later I have finished the book but the house still looks like a disaster zone! I totally blame you Steven. lol
A good thing I am still waiting for the next book from the library!
