I vote for just leaving it as is -- of course, I have a bunch of series books coming up too, so that could influence my decision :)

Oh, okie dokie! Then maybe I'll put Allegiant where I originally intended it -- in the slot for #3 :D

message 53: by Karla (new)

Karla I have a couple series books coming up too.

Jane | 206 comments Finished Vampires: The Recent Undead by Paula Guran, 431 pages.

V for A-Z book titles.

It has taken me 1 year and 4 monts to finish this book. If it had been an ordinary book instead of an audio it would most likely not have taken that long.
even though it has taken me over a year, I have actually listened to 76 % of the book since October.

message 64: by Lisa - (Aussie Girl) (last edited Nov 09, 2013 10:11PM) (new)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Yep, I can read No 4 in the Sinners on Tour series up next...

And I'm half way through no 8 in a series, Guardian Demon by Meljean Brook so that takes out No 8.

message 65: by Barb (last edited Nov 09, 2013 10:17PM) (new)

Barb LOL I was just going to say that I have an 8 coming up too! That's ok - we can have duplicates, or maybe I can fit it in the title list :D

message 66: by Barb (new)

Barb 11/10 - finished The Civil War, Vol. 1: Fort Sumter to Perryville, by Shelby Foote, 856 pages - on approved list, qualifies for cutthroat cupcake

Author name: F

message 67: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Yay Barb!!!

message 68: by Barb (new)

Barb I have to decide whether to start Vol. 2 now or take a break from all that history! LOL

message 69: by Diane L (new)

Diane L That is an excellent series Barb. I read it many years ago when I was on a Civil War kick.

Finished Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain, 276 pages (300-some with endnotes and index), 10 Nov.

Cain makes an argument for the value of introverts in a society that idealizes extrovert qualities. She shows the importance of balance between the two in personal life and in business (with some harsh things to say about the extroverts who worked themselves into positions of power just before the housing/stock/bank crashes of 2008). She presents research from several fields of study and a lot of case study style interviews with strong introverts. I found this rewarding and affirming as a person who is an introvert with some thought provoking parts about what I can do to help myself in situations that I find draining or intimidating or simply difficult because something is asked of me that is so unnatural such as being forceful about my opinions and ideas in workplace meetings. When I tried reading it straight through, I found the ideas blurring together, so I switched it to a bedtime book with a chapter read each night and time to process it before the next night. This worked much better.

Title: Q

I am currently listening to The Book of the Dead by Preston and Child which will give us a #7.

message 70: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Oh, Book of the Dead is one of my favorites in the Pendergast series, Evana!!!

message 71: by Karla (new)

Karla I finished Notes from the Midnight Driver by Jordan Sonnenblick 11/8. I guess it can go under Tittle N since we already have and N title, J author and S author.

message 72: by Steven (last edited Nov 10, 2013 01:52PM) (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I just finished Death Masks by Jim Butcher. It looks like the D for title and the B and J for author name are taken already... but we can move Lisa's Jillian Stone book from the J author and put it in the M title spot (Moonstone and something or other) hehe. X)

(also this counts as a chunkster, so I'll turn this and Barb's Cutthroat in on Tuesday when I get back to work and my spreadsheet!)

message 73: by Barb (new)

Barb Evana wrote: "That is an excellent series Barb. I read it many years ago when I was on a Civil War kick."

Agreed, it is good. But I don't want to get caught up in something as long as Volume 2 if I'm not certain I can finish it before this challenge ends. If I can, that would be an added bonus for the team, since it counts as *four books, but if I can't ... then I miss out on counting maybe one or two others that I could finish 'on time' :)

message 74: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) if it's a cutthroat, it counts as FIVE :D (1 book + 4 BAPs) hehehe

message 75: by Barb (new)

Barb It is a cutthroat ... but how close are we to ending this whole thing?

message 76: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I haven't seen any update yet today, but i'd wager a week or two left, max.

That sounds like a really interesting book Evana. I think I fit into the introvert category too. I am constantly amazed by all these people who want to be reality TV stars... Each to their own but yuck.

Steven, move my books to where ever fits. Only a couple more weeks of the challenge, oh no, I'm going to miss you guys..

message 78: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I will miss you peeps too. We will find a way to stick together :D

message 79: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I don't normally read non-fiction, Barb, but after reading your description of the book, I think I'll add it to my list.

I am not socially introverted, but according to my MBTI (and experience), I lean towards the introverted side of things, preferred quiet time and alone time to recharge my batteries rather than being in a group!

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) I finished Sugar and Spite, g.a. mckevett...looks like the only spot it will fit is Author: M -
cant believe this game is almost over....so sad to be losing my group of reading buddies...we need a spot to continue to catch up with everyone...I know I have been remiss lately in posting with randomness but hubby is not well & with work there is not much time for play :( we had another emergency room run last Thurs night & they seem to be coming more & more frequent. He's home but still not feeling all that great but we are going to family Dr tomorrow to have things looked over & then we will decide what to do from that outcome.
Hope all have a good week & enojoy the day off if you are lucky enough to have that as a holiday...I unfortunately must work...hospitals never close lol

message 81: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) That comment about introverts was totally directed at Evana and I typed Barb. My Bad!

message 82: by Karla (new)

Karla Sallie, I hope your husband feels better soon!

message 83: by Karla (new)

Karla Finished Sleepover Stakeout by Kim Harrington, Sleuth or dare #2. It goes in the Series #2 spot.

message 84: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Ditto Karla's sentiments, Sallie! <3

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Thank you everyone for the well wishes

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments All the best Sallie.

If the tower team challenge ends this week, can we still finish this challenge?

message 87: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Of course :) if they close this thread I'll cause a stink to get it opened back up! Hehe

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments ... and that's why you're the Captain, lol.. Good one!

message 89: by Barb (new)

Barb Karla wrote: "Sallie, I hope your husband feels better soon!"

What everyone else has said!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments You know, I was just thinking, it's a pity the challenge is ending now, because if we kept going at this pace I think we could have just about won it.

When they start the next one if we are able to 'get the team back together' I reckon we'd be a real threat...

message 91: by Barb (new)

Barb We would certainly have given them a run for their money :)

message 92: by Barb (new)

Barb To the mods: Would it be possible for us to keep at least *this thread open until our self-imposed challenge ends on Nov. 23/24 (depending on where we're all located)? I'd love to see how close we come to filling in all the blanks!

message 94: by Diane L (new)

Diane L I rolled for the team for the third Ninja task. They will come back with a genre and we need one person to read a book from that genre by the 23rd November.

Barb Evana wrote: "I rolled for the team for the third Ninja task. They will come back with a genre and we need one person to read a book from that genre by the 23rd November."

Uhoh! I didn't see a post that anyone had rolled, so I did too!

message 97: by Barb (new)

Barb LOL The good thing: we both rolled the same number :)

So, has anyone on our team read a historical fiction book since November 1? None of my books qualify.

Since we've already used them for a different Ninja task, we canNOT use Hatshepsut's Collar (Steven), Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage (Lisa) or The Lost Art of Mixing (Evana).

message 98: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool is set at the end of World War II, probably 1945-46.

message 99: by Barb (new)

Barb And historical fiction is the first genre listed on the book's page, yay! I'll go post it in the Ninja thread. Thanks, Evana :)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Finished Guardian Demon. 576 pages. finished 11/12.

SERIES # 8 in The Guardians Series by Meljean Brook.
