Steven (gallifreyan1218) I don't Dee that happening, Barb! You're a challenge addict! :)

Finished A Vile Village by Lemony Snicket, book 7, and I'll have to think about where to put it!

message 152: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I know how you feel Barb. I still have 12 books I need to read in order to complete my 2013 challenges. A few of them are for the insane challenge (36 different genres) and of course it is some of the genres I normally don't read that I am still missing.

And it doesn't help I just bought #1 and borrowed #2 till #5 of Kate Daniels from the library and they have to be back in 30 days so I have to read them lol.

I also want to take part in Christmas Spirit Reading Challenge 2013 to read some Christmas books.

My goal is to read another 6 of my must read books this month and only have 6 left for December but it means I have to pull myself together.

message 153: by Barb (new)

Barb I like the idea of the Christmas reading challenge, but the last thing I need is to take on yet *another challenge LOL

message 154: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I don't read enough/have enough/have the desire to stop knocking out my series enough to stop and read Christmas books! haha!

message 155: by Barb (new)

Barb Before I discovered reading challenges, I used to devote December to reading Christmas-themed books. There are some good ones out there :)

message 156: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I have finished Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews # 1 in Kate Daniels series.
It doesn't fit any needed spaces.

I now have to finish an audible and at least read 5% of Titus Groan before I am allowed to continue the series.

I like your discipline! :)

message 158: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Finished Death of a Bore by M. C. Beaton, 272 pages, 15 Nov.

This is Hamish Macbeth #21.

message 159: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Finished Elidor D by Alan Garner approved in post 1049

The ending was unexpected, but the story was good.

Now I just have to read some Titus Groan and I can get back to Kate

message 160: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Way to go Jane! GO GO GO!

message 161: by Barb (new)

Barb Update: 11/15 - finished Acapella Blues, by Robert Bucchianeri, 212 pages
approved by LK, 11/12, 212 pages
msg #1043

Doesn't really fit anywhere that isn't already covered, so M. Mango can decide whether or not to add it to the list - A title, R or B author

message 162: by Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (last edited Nov 15, 2013 07:26PM) (new)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) Hi everyone...hold on to your hats but I finished 2 books today....The Eyre Affair, jasper fforde which was a little different read from what I have been reading but I liked it more & more about half way thru the book - I am placing this one in the Title: E spot & I finished New York to Dallas, j.d. robb...as usual I continue to love this series still have a few more books to read before I am completely caught up in this series. This one I am placing wherever it may be of the most use as most of our letters are taken.

Wow 2 books in one day that must be a record for me at least - but hey something is better than nothing.

message 163: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Terrific Sallie!

message 164: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I'll have to see if that JD Robb one is a chunkster!

Nice work Sallie!

Barb Sallie(Shuga) wrote: "Wow 2 books in one day that must be a record for me"

Yay Sallie!

And I just finished another one, Blessed Is The Busybody, by Emilie Richards, 272 pages

It's #1 in a series, a B title or an E/R author -- all of which are already filled in on our lists LOL

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments FINISHED Judgement in Death. 11/16. 480 PAGES. ****.

SERIES: # 11 In Death series by J D Robb.

message 167: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Finished Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews

I will try to read a bit more Titus Groan today and if I push myself I might be able to actually finish the book for TT.

I am not sure when we finish the challenge tomorrow but I hope I also will be able to finish the next Kate Daniels before then but then I need to get a life LOL.

message 168: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Awesome work everyone!

Jane if you can finish that triple threat that would rock! But don't neglect your real life!

We have until 1130ish Pacific Standard Time (which is 230ish in my time zone, Eastern Standard Time) to finish books and tag them and turn in cupcakes.

I'm going to go double check the In Death book, as most of those count as chunksters, and turn it in. Then try to finish City of Glass (another chunkster) by tomorrow so I can turn it in too!)

message 169: by Jane (last edited Nov 16, 2013 05:43AM) (new)

Jane | 206 comments @ Steven, Triple treat?

Mt husband is spending the weekend writing for NaNoWrMo so all I can do is read lol.

Time wise I think that means about 8pm tomorrow for me.

message 170: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Oh, You said finish Titus Groan for the TT and I took that as triple threat... but you meant tower teams. :D My B!

message 171: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Sorry about that. :-)

It is only 381 pages but it feels like it should be triple treat the time it is taking me to read it.

I will still try to finish it, I am at 69%

message 172: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Did you like the Kate Daniels book? We just read the third one as a buddy read. The fourth is scheduled for the beginning of December!

message 173: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Yes, I liked both of them and I am ready for # 3 which is right next to me, but I have decided I have to read something else before I am allowed to continue.

Last night I was tired and went to bed but thought I would just read a chapter or two of #2, three hours later at 4am I forced myself to put it down. I really like books that makes me forget how sleepy I am. LOL

message 174: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 476 comments Mod
Oh, yes! LOVE those kind of books.

message 175: by Jane (last edited Nov 16, 2013 04:20PM) (new)

Jane | 206 comments Finished Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake.
Approved as a chunkster which is the best part of that book! I really shouldn't read books that are classics as I find most of them rather boring. I will not be continuing this trilogy.

It fits both title T and author P

message 176: by Barb (new)

Barb On our way home from the game tonight, we finished Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong, James W. Loewen, 383 pages.

Again, all of the spots it could fit are filled, but I'm happy to add another book to our team total. I might just finish one more before tomorrow afternoon, but I'm not sure. It depends on how soon I fall asleep tonight!

Why is it that I'm so tired when all I did was ride in the car (to/from the game) and sit in the stands cheering on our team? We didn't even have our usual hike from the parking lot to the stadium and back again because we got a really *good (and close!) parking spot with our game tickets :)

message 177: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Because being on the road even if you're not driving can be exhausting!

message 178: by Karla (new)

Karla Sorry I couldn't help out more this month with the books. My mom, Kayla, and I have to move out of our place at the end of the month, so we have been doing a lot of packing. And we still don't have a place to live starting December first.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments That's a worry for your family, Karla. Hope you find a place real soon.

message 180: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Ditto what Lisa said! I hope you find somewhere ASAP and can get moved and settled quickly!

message 182: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Sounds awfull Karla, hope you find something soon.

message 183: by Barb (new)

Barb What everyone else has said! Good luck finding another place.

message 185: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Finished Burning Chrome by William Gibson 226 pages.

message 186: by Barb (new)

Barb And I'm done ... I didn't get to finish the book I was hoping to finish before the deadline, but I'm ok with that :)

Great work, everyone! Now all we have to do is wait for the official standings to be posted - hopefully later tonight. I'm sure the mods are VERY busy getting everything finalized ... and I'm glad it's them and not me :)

message 187: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I just finised Playing for Time by Barbara Bretton 260 pages. Hope it counts

Titel P

I had a very slow start to this month but have made up for it these last 8 days.

message 188: by Barb (new)

Barb It should count, Jane. I think the mods said they'd start verifying shelves, etc. right around now. We can still work on our November challenge until Saturday, but the Tower challenge is, for all intents and purposes, over.

message 189: by Lisa - (Aussie Girl) (last edited Nov 17, 2013 10:13PM) (new)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Finished my first book post challenge. It felt weird not to add it to NBRC Mango Tango shelf!

Fire And Ice. 379 pages. Finished 11/18. ****

TITLES: F

message 190: by Karla (new)

Karla Thanks, everyone!

message 191: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Lisa... I feel the same way. I have no idea what to do with my books anymore! No sense of urgency to read faster and more more more! X)

message 192: by Barb (new)

Barb You need to join more challenges, Steven :)

message 193: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I might... soon. :P

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Steven, when you are able would you mind doing an update so we can see what letters we have to do before Saturday. Thanks.

I'm working on authors Q and Z at the moment.

message 195: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Unfortunately I'm preparing for a business trip and leave bright and early in the morning so the earliest I can update it will be Thursday. I didn't have time the past few days either. I'm sorry I'm so behind.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments No worries, Steven, that will be fine. It's only for fun.

message 197: by Monsieur Mango (new)

Monsieur Mango Tango (mangotangoNBRC) | 99 comments Found a few minutes to update. We have a chain of 11 consecutive series books and need higher numbered books, 12 and up, to continue the chain.

We have 22 author spots filled and 19 title spots. Go us!

Do we still want this to end on Saturday? Or do we want to keep going until we fill in all the blanks?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Steven, you must have read my mind. I was so hoping we could continue until we filled all the spots. If you can find the time and don't mind updating I say we keep going..

Thanks so much for updating with your busy schedule. Hope the business trip is a good one.

PS I've got the next In death in my TBR - that's series No 12.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Finished Skies of Fire. Finished 11/19. Author: Zoe Archer.

AUTHORS: Z

message 200: by Barb (new)

Barb I'm all for keeping this challenge going too. Can you tell that I hate for things to end? LOL

None of the series books on my list for the rest of the year are higher than #7, but I might be able to sneak in something higher eventually :)

I *do have an X author that I 'need' to read before the end of the year, and I'm working on a Z title right now.
