Judithe | 6566 comments And just did my team's card on behalf of our captain since I was already here "working" on this.

Team 3 OK.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments Team 6's card looks ok...though I'm not sure what would be wrong

message 111: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Thanks! I input the shelves by hand, so sometimes there are "wrong" spaces on the board (on the google drive link, not the team thread official boards) which would make for some confusion as we are all scouting for who is going to get Bingo...

message 112: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Team 8's card is OK too.

message 113: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 977 comments Team #1 captain reporting for duty: I'd already verified our card when they were posted, all good there.

I'll get back to you with our team name. ;)

Steph (angel4492) | 32753 comments Thanks for the spreadsheet, Judithe! So nice to see 'um that way and see where everyone stands.

Yes, Christina, play along :)

Sorry about the fuzzy bingo cards. I'm not sure why, but I'm just happy they're showing up at all at this point.

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments Team 3 looks good the card matches up.
We have no name yet. I'm also trying my hand at captain scary I know.

Steph (angel4492) | 32753 comments ;) You're doin' great, Cap! We'll should decide on a name soon though. I'm cool with whatever everyone likes.

Thenia, are we talking about the same card? I'm referring to the spreadsheet (link on page 2). Just confirming, THANKS!!

Checked again just to be sure I didn't miss anything and everything is as it should be with all our cards.

message 127: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32753 comments Thanks, but actually, for this round, we said in advance that drop outs would not be replaced. But, I'll keep ya'll in mind if that changes.

Yeah, I just read the sign up thing. This would have been perfect for me, wish I knew what happened to my notice! Good luck to all, and I love the read or get booted idea...;-)

message 129: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32753 comments Sorry, Deidre! Hate ya'll missing out on it. It came together rather quickly. Promise more will come in 2014. :D (many have mentioned liking the 3-book-boot idea, so that may stick around)

message 130: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I love that rule too. Thanks for constantly improving this game.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Maybe for the regular round of BINGO, with the 3-book-boot idea, a sub can be called in to finish.

message 132: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Yep, distinct possibility Debbie. For this round as it was designed for speed we thought it would be inappropriate to add players.

message 133: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Wow. No pacing yet? Having two books to read must be slowing down the pacers :DDD

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 228 comments Shelf! Shelf!!!

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Shelf! Shelf!

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

ok. so if someone only does one review before the next set of shelves are called they are already one book behind right? so if they wanted to catch up they would have to read that shelf plus the ones called before the next set is called...did i understand that correctly?

message 141: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Yes, Delmy. You got it.

message 142: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Nov 09, 2013 10:17AM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Personally I think, due to all the timezone differences, there should be a 24-hour from shelf call leeway rule on that one. (I'm caught up but it's Saturday afternoon here for me and will still be Saturday when the "Sunday morning" shelf call happens.)

message 143: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I don't think it matters because we can start reading as soon as the shelves are called on our time zones, we don't have to wait until it's Sunday morning our time. And anyhow, we have 3 strikes so a player can be consistently behind two books and it won't matter.

message 144: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Agreed.

message 145: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Nov 09, 2013 10:32AM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments I just meant that for some members it's the wee hours of the night; not everyone will wakeup at 3 or 4 am to post a review to make the presumed deadline.

If this round is like other BINGO rounds, the shelf call doesn't always happen at the exact same time of day. And if the call isn't an exact time of day, it's unfair to make the cutoff rule the same time as shelf call or an exact time on the same day as. A 12-24 hour leeway let's everyone wake up and attend to their postings.

Or if it is going to be an exact cutoff hour, then that should be posted (specifying Sydney timezone, GMT or whatever).

message 146: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments But it isn't a true cut off. You can still submit the review after the shelf call. There is no penalty.

message 147: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Nov 09, 2013 10:39AM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Regina wrote: "But it isn't a true cut off. You can still submit the review after the shelf call. There is no penalty."

I missed that in the rules. I just read that 3 books behind and you were out and wasn't really sure when the cutoff was.

Then Delmy posted on message 140 asking "ok. so if someone only does one review before the next set of shelves are called they are already one book behind right? so if they wanted to catch up they would have to read that shelf plus the on..." So I got confused and suggested that maybe it should be a leeway/cutoff that gave all timezones a chance to post same day as shelf call. Day as in daylight hours.

message 148: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 09, 2013 10:35AM) (new)

I just wanted to make sure i understood that particular rule. Finals are coming up for me and i wanted to have good understanding in case i fell behind. Thanks for everyone clarifying it for me!
:)

message 149: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments We can behind a certain number - right? Am I wrong?

Both correct. The shelf announcement is what I'm using as a guideline/deadline for myself. It is universal for all teams. The announcement does happen at different times depending on where we all fall on the map, but it's still a week later for all of us (give or take a few hours either way). For some (same hemi as Sandra & Judithe), the week runs from Sun-Sun others Sat-Sat, etc.
