You might be right JG and I didn't look for a book through the eyes of an autistic boy!

Finished The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland last night and loved it! If you enjoy the medieval period (1300's) and strong women who have to deal with stupid, brutal men and religious hypocrisy, then you will enjoy it, too. Throw in superstition and some supernatural, and it is an intriguing story of mystery and survival.Starting The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie tonight.

I agree JG. The perspective of the autistic child is what made the book a good read.
Just finished Soulless by Gail Carringer (the cover continues to crack me up). Fairly entertaining. Now I'm starting A Quiet Belief in Angels A Novel by R.J. Ellory.
I'm reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I'm curious if anyone else here has read it and what they thought (without spoilers because I'm quite done)!
Saving faith by Baldacii seems to be good but a bit slow for the moment and you have different characters in different parts that I am not linking them well for now.
Jeane wrote: "I always saw his books but only now finally reading one! I hope it gets really good!"Read Wish You Well. It was a different kind of book for him.
I'm reading The Fitzgerald Ruseby Mark deCastrique. It's the second book in the Sam Blackman series and I'm enjoying it.
Hayes wrote: "Started the third Russell/Holmes book A Letter of Mary, which I think is my favorite. "Oh, Hayes, I just love the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series by Laurie King. Alas, I have read them all and must wait for more. Enjoy all of them.
Donna wrote: "Over the weekend I started An Incomplete Revenge the 5th in the Maisie Dobbs series."Faith, I have read both Gillian Flynn's novels I do think she is more off the edge than I like to read I will probablynever read another novel by her.
Donna, I really like the Maisie Dobbs series I have all Jacqueline's books and do pass them around to friends. Would'nt you love to see this series on PBS sometime in the future?

Oh yes, that would be terrific. I think of the Maisie Dobbs books in the same category as Foyle's War - not the same time period but the same feel.

Just finished Pelican Road by Howard Bahr..Lame.Going to start Lieberman's Folly by Kaminsky. Looking forward to this!

This is my third read through of the series... just love them. I decided to send them on a book spiral, so I'm reading them one last time before I send them off... then I will read The Language of Bees.
Has anyone read that one yet?

It was a bit different then his usual fare."Wish You Well was supposed to be a faux memoir of his ancestor. The writing was beautiful but the plot was not terribly original and reminded of a Lassie film.
Faith wrote: "I'm reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I'm curious if anyone else here has read it and what they thought (without spoilers because I'm quite done)!"The librarian I work with said she had trouble sleeping after reading it. And she warns everyone before she lets them borrow it.

Wow, Hayes, your third time through! I want to read them all again, too, but I'm not sure when I'll get to do that. I've read The Language of Bees, and it is, of course, an excellent read. However, I have to admit to being just a little disappointed in it, not my favorite in the series. I'm thinking maybe I should read it again and see if it was just not a good reading time or something like that.
Finished The Colour of Heaven - James Runcie. Now I am gonna read Poor Little Bitch Girl - Jackie Collins.
I read both of Gillian Flynn's books and you would do well to heed your librarian's advise. After I read her first boom Sharper something or other (I'm still trying to forget that book) I picked up her 2nd. now I know I will never read her again. To violent, to weird I really thought she (Gillian) was losing her mind to write such books.
I finished 'A Quiet Belief of Angels' and thought it was very good, although the book jacket was clearly inaccurate so the story wasn't quite what I anticipated. I've never come across that before. Anyway, the story was pretty dark and disturbing but by the end I was thoroughly engrossed. After finishing it I felt like I was waking up from a long sleep.
I have finished THE TREATMENT by Mo Hayder, what a very strange mind to write such creepy scary books!!! Now reading a calming down book by M.C.Beaton Death of a Macho Man, another Hamish Macbeth murder mystery.
REading All the Great Pretenders, which isn't thrilling me, but it's entertaining enough.
I have a few better things coming up, so this will clear my palate so to speak...

Okay, just about finished Dark Places and agree with what everyone said. I actually skimmed parts - I got the idea and really didn't need to read it. Ultimately I was more bothered by it being depressing than graphically violent (though that bothered me too). Now I'm moving on to The Unquiet by John Connolly. I may be sorry - I think I'm getting too old for this dark stuff. Maybe I should stick to Evanovich!
Just finished Flesh And Blood-Jonathan Kellerman. It was pretty good. I like the Alex Delaware character and Milo Sturgis.

Recently finished Greedy Bones by Carolyn Haines and enjoyed it very much. I recommend this to cozy fans. Sometimes you just need an easy read - one where you can figure out the ending early in the book. Good light entertainment.
Chris wrote: "I have finished THE TREATMENT by Mo Hayder, what a very strange mind to write such creepy scary books!!! I like the nice, easy-going read that they give me, too. Unfortunately, I started this series way out of order (read 2 so far), but I'm planning on going back and picking up the others. I think Dreamer was #22.
Started The Black Tower yesterday, but I'm not sure my muddled mind can focus on it right now, as I have the flu (not H1N1). The M.C. Beaton one was nice because I didn't have to think too much with it. I might have to find another like that for now.
Reading THE UNQUIET by John Connolly. And recently re-read BLACK SUNDAY by Thomas Harris (the quintessential high concept thriller!)
Finished up All the Great Pretenders, but just... skimmed thru the last part. Wasn't at all interested in whodunnit.
Am now starting I Am the Cheese, which really isn't a mystery, although it is mysterious. I read it eons ago so I thought I'd give it another go. The beginning is certainly gripping. *peddle, peddle*

Just read Killer Weekend by Ridley Pearson. Fun light book. Turned into a page-turner about midway. Nice break from heavier/intense stuff.
Finished reading Poor Little Bitch Girl - Jackie Collins and now deciding to read Housewife In Love - Alison Penton Harper

I simply pounce on one as soon as it becomes available and don't think it has spoiled the series, although I do sometimes think 'Oh that is a pity I wonder what happened' Then find the reason in the next book!!!

I liked this one. Havn'et read anythings else of his, however.

I thought it was really good. Actually I could not put it down and I guess I'll have to read his others now.
