OK, sounds like a good book. I will have to give it a try.

Kathy, just got back from the festival. I got to hear Garth Stein speak, author of "Racing in the Rain" (which I of course bought there). He is a very charasmatic and interesting speaker. Can't wait to read the book. I especially wanted to see the UK crime fiction author R.J. Ellory. His new book "A Quiet Belief in Angels" was recently published in the US (which I of course bought there). Unfortunately according to the cashier he never showed up. I know he planned on going to Bouchercon, maybe he got hung up there? Other authors there included Jennifer Weiner, James Braziel, Jeannette Walls, and a host of children's book authors. Fun was had by all! Hope you make next year's festival!
Maybe someone can help me. I clicked on reply under Chris' comment and the post seem to just go to the end on the thread instead of replying to Chris. How does this Goodreads suppose to work. Seems extremely awkward. Or maybe just my old age?
I loved that poker game, too. Fun show. My new fave of this season is Flash Forward and I'm getting into N.C.I.S. Los Angeles, too. I absolutely loved "Jericho" a couple of years back, but it only ran one season. Also love Dr. Who - all of the different Doctors. The spin-off, "Torchwood," was fun with great characters, but not enough shows for me. Made me want to travel to Wales, though.

This shows others what post you are referencing.
Never rated The Lost Symbol last nite, cos I couldn't get into it. Maybe his last 1 I just can't understand. Might need to read it instead of listening to.

I go to the Southern Kentucky Book Festival in Bowling Green each year vowing to limit my book purchases, and then, after talking to the authors, end up buying way too many books (is that possible, too many books?).
Okay I feel danger in this thread... I've heard of two Ohio book fairs (something I've never done) within driving distance... how do you find out about these things ahead of time? I'm intrigued (and worried)... lol.
Heidi, I originally heard about "Books by the Banks" on a poster in a local bookstore (which I haunt regularly of course). Since it's now an annual event I keep track of it via the website. You should come next year, it's really fun!http://www.booksbythebanks.org/index....
Heidi, if you just google "book festivals" you will find a lot of different ones. I'd like to plug the one I mentioned, The Southern Kentucky Book Fest held in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I love it! I have met and heard some fantastic authors there, such as Pat Conroy, Scott Turow, Harlan Coben, and Kathleen Kent. If you live close enough to go, it's held every April.
I really liked the Lost Symbol (I read it the day it arrived in the stores), but then I liked Dan's other books as well. I do like the research that goes into his novels and that he lets the reader know up front what is true and what is fictional. The only thing that bugs me is the continuous trail of evidence which gets to be a bit trying after a while.
Thanks for all the book festival information... the one in Cincinnati is definitely something I'm looking forward to next spring!
Hello I was wondering if anyone here reads Stuart Woods??? What is a good series to read by him and a good place book to start with?? Are his books good murder mysteries??

Hi LobsterGirl, I am sure you will enjoy the Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha it was my favorite of all her books.
Still reading Language of Bees... this month has been so crazy busy that I've hardly had time to read at all... hate when that happens... hope the cold weather of November slows down life and finds me bundled up with good books!
TThanks for the recommendation of Chiefs. I put it on my to-read list. The description is very intriguing.i>Barbara wrote: "Sakura wrote: "Hello I was wondering if anyone here reads Stuart Woods??? Thank you very much Barbara I am gonna have to try Chiefs. Also, how is the Stone Barrington series??? What is the best one to start with from that series.
Listening to Nevada Barr's "Borderline" and reading J. A. Jance's "Fire & Ice". Two of my favorite authors.
Sakura, I have read a few of Stone Barrington series, not much on mystery but much sex....he is one hot dude.
How is Borderlineby Nevada Barr? I finished 13 1/2 lastg week-end but did not like it at all of course it's not the Anna Pigeon series which is wonderful!! Also read Fire and Ice and J.A. Jance is one of my favorites too.

Anna's very reflective in this book about the shooting, about marriage, about the NPS, and I'm anxious to see what conclusions she arrives at. And of course, it's a gripping story which I'm really not sure who are the villains!!
Just finished "Brass Verdict" and started on "Finger Licken' Fifteen" and will be through that one today. I am trying to decide whether to read "Faceless Killers" or "World Without End" or "The Magicians." I'm thinking of flipping a coin to decide. Of course, I will waste an hour tonight watching "Survivor," thanks to my bff's dragging me into the soap opera of it. Now I'm hooked. Hope everybody has something wonderful to read.
Finished reading "Birdman" by Mo Hayder. Not my cup of tea. To graphic and somewhat drawn out. Not sure I want to attempt any other books by her?
I just finished The Woman in Black A Ghost Story by Susan Hill, a great classic ghost story for this month. I've started Sherlock in Love A Novel by Sena Jeter Naslund, one of my favorite authors (Ahab's Wife and Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette).
I just started Murder on the Eiffel Tower and so far I am enjoying it. It is a much lighter read after Girl with the Dragon Tattoo so it is a good change for me.
I'm about 2/3 of the way done with Nicholas Sparks' The Guardian, which, on top of being a love story, is a pretty suspenseful thriller. I can't put this book down without wondering what's going to happen next!
Susanna wrote: "#1,735. The mind boggles."I was pleasantly surprised to learn I'm in the 400s now... that seems reasonable... :) Of course that gives me time to read Angels and Demons before the new one.
I'm starting The Secret Speech by Tom Rob Smith, his follow up to 'Child 44', which I really enjoyed. The first couple of chapters of this book were great and I'm totally hooked into the story now.

The Wrong Mother by Sophie Hannah and The Monster of Florence anxious to start one or the other. Finally finishng the Shadow on the Wind it's very good but long.

Janice. I read "Church of Dead Girls" quite some time ago. Excellent book. Beautifully written. It is one of those books that makes you go back and re-read whole paragraphs, if you know what I mean. It is not gory, as the title might make you believe, just well written and enjoyable.
Donna and Kathy, that's too weird! I just bought that book this weekend as well. Great minds all thinking alike. I'm not getting to read it too soon though, so I'll look forward to hearing what you think of it.
Dorie wrote: "Donna and Kathy, that's too weird! I just bought that book this weekend as well. Great minds all thinking alike. I'm not getting to read it too soon though, so I'll look forward to hearing what ..."LOL! Yes, Dorie, great minds indeed.
Hi All,I just finished All That Remains by Patricia Cornwell and flew through it in a day which was a nice change after reading The Templar Legacy A Novel by Steve Berry that dragged on for me for a week or so.
Looking to read Relic by Douglas Preston next before it has to go back to the library.
Lobstergirl, that brackety book link thing doesn't usually work, if that's the way you made the link. The easiest way to make a link is to click the "add book/author" link above your comment box.

Lobstergirl wrote: "I'm reading The Water's Edge by Karin Fossum."And having finished this, I think I'm done with the pedophiliac subgenre of Nordic police procedurals.
