NICO… YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT O.o

ihearthawaii See just because you do something, that doesn't make it correct. Intellectual failure.

ihearthawaii Also, the fact that a "grown" man would say hypocrite is... hypocritical.

ihearthawaii Quotation marks do not show emphasis, exclamation marks do though.

Why are all the comments personal attacks or about grammar? We're not enemies here.

I heartwaii, how do you justify Rick Riordan telling his young audience they must accept a character essentially engaging in perverted acts with someone of the same gender in the future? (That's what "being gay" means).

Do you have an argument that stands for itself or are you going to hide behind correcting grammar? Again, we're not enemies; honestly the only ones who assume that are the ones from your side who take much pleasure in seeing hate where there is none. If we're sincere and seeking truth we're on the same side.

ihearthawaii I would answer you, but I couldn't understand your question. Maybe you could rephrase it in an understandable way so I may respond.

O___O

message 4557: by [deleted user] (new)

I assume you don't like that I said it was perverted. Why don't you think so?

I'm not trying to attack you. We all need to be able to defend our beliefs.

Brown, didn't you learn long ago that their beliefs are built on the sand? Why am I still here? They don't have a leg to stand on if they can't throw insults back and forth.

Lol Matthew, this and not knowing that prowess is a word, just makes me think we are talking to an 8 year old.

They are spamming and talking about how educated they are, yet they ask for a simple enough question, to be simplified further.

message 4561: by Matthew (new) - rated it 5 stars

Matthew Yeah, I'm just getting tired of this. I know the thread is too long to read easily, but it feels like we're flagellating a deceased equine (view spoiler). Although I disagree with many of the more homophobic comments here, it's nigh impossible to change someone's opinion on the Internet, and it's just become cyclic, with the same banality coming from both sides. That's why I've not commented that much recently bar describing my facial expression at all the people talking to themselves.

message 4562: by Dora (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dora Tarani Yeah, besides, nobody ignores books where guys like girls. It's pretty legit

message 4563: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 27, 2015 10:56AM) (new)

Matthew's right.

I WAS literally talking to myself more than once. You can't have a discussion with people who only say meaningless phrases over and over. Time to take a break.
I hope for their sakes they actually examine their beliefs for once some day, and accept they're going to get challenged. They have the media and popular opinion on their side for now, but they can't cry "bully" forever.

The most hate I've personally witnessed has by far come from the pro-gays. (Just look above). I can count the very few reasonable discussions on my hand.

message 4564: by Dora (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dora Tarani True dat, don't like it, don't read it. Period cuz srsly guys this discussion is redicilously long.

Fed up of the circle jerk BS that is going on.

If they stayed they would be like a broken record, just going over the same points again and again.

Emily W So bloodyhell, what was the purpose of this comment. I know a few slightly younger kids who read this feed. They may know these words but you are basically just telling them its ok to cuss. They may take it a your a kid because of your profile pic but I am assuming you aren't. Description is important.

Yeah, while I'm still here, I try to avoid investing much into the central argument; everything to be said has been said.

You realize "bloody hell" is on par with the "F-word" in the UK, right? This is rather hypocritical.

message 4573: by Kevin (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kevin @Emily
Did you really have to post the same comment 4 times for maximum effect?

Kevin Matthew wrote: "You realize "bloody hell" is on par with the "F-word" in the UK, right? This is rather hypocritical. ..."

Just ignore her Matthew, Emily and Iheart are trolls.

If you read back, you would see them trying to double team me, and trying to school me in the use of "proper Grammar", while making some very horrible mistakes themselves.

You were here that night, right Matthew? Iheart had his friend(Emily) make an account to show he "had support".

I really thought he was saying he had irl suppose, not people to come and argue something that makes no sense and lost it's meaning 8+months ago.

Matthew is there a thread like this for the last book? Not going to complete it, so i won't see it.

Kevin, do you mean about Nico, critiquing The Blood of Olympus as a whole, or a rambling thread of childish exchanged insults? I should be able to find a few of the first two, I don't think the third kind exists… yet.

message 4577: by Emily (new)

Emily W Matthew and Kevin,

Ihearthawaii and I aren't being rude and critiquing everyone. We are simply doing this to make a better feed. We figure that if people were to eliminate bad grammar, punctuation, and basically text language, we will eliminate the texting language world and test scores will be raised, we will have a smarter world, and all the texting language will be is a memory...

And yet you use the term "will be is". Profanity is within the Goodreads rules, and I doubt one thread will eliminate "texting language". And this is coming from a self-proclaimed grammar cop (I don't like the term "Grammar Nazi", for reasons that are obvious once you think about it).

message 4579: by Emily (new)

Emily W I agree that one thread won't change the world but all it takes is baby steps. If one person changes then others will catch on. Yes when I said "will be is..." I know you know what I meant, but I am only in 8th grade so I make mistakes. As a matter of a fact all humans do, so you are making the mistake of discrimination. Not all the Nazi's and Germans were mean and against Jews. I'm pretty sure you don't know that a very large portion of Germans wore paperclips on their collars to say that they support the Jews without being killed.
You are basically saying that all Nazis are bad. It is very stereotypical. I being one close to German heritage know what Nazi's do. So go on and be stereotypical but know who your hurting.

message 4580: by Emily (new)

Emily W Although profanity may (or may not) be allowed, bloodyhell's response was irrelevant and useless. If she (or he) had given more description I wouldn't be as mad. But the fact that she just said it right there is very inapropros.

I don't think he was supporting the gay rights thing. I think he was just throwing it in there because heck... can YOU think of a better twist with Nico??

Kevin Emily wrote: " I am only in 8th grade so I make mistakes. As a matter of a fact all humans do..."

Not according to you and your buddy. If I recall correctly(you guys deleted your posts), you and Iheart were the "bestest Grammarist in the entire world" and everything I was doing was wrong.

Kevin Mgh101 wrote: " I think he was just throwing it in there because heck... can YOU think of a better twist with Nico?? ..."

He twisted Nico's head off. none of his character traits pointed towards being gay.

If I acted funny around one of my friends does that mean I am gay?

Nico had guilt towards Percy because he saved him(which he is thankful for) but didn't save/stop his sister(which he resents).
He was also lost in time and the only person other than his sister he could talk to was Percy(who killed his sister).

W/e if LKH can take character traits and dump them out the window, RR can do w/e he wants, it's his book.

If he wanted Percy to knock up Hera, he would do so.

OMG that is so freakin true....
but i follow Rck and he said Nico was gay but he put him in there because there are gay people in the world and should be recognized in books.

message 4585: by Emily (new)

Emily W The fact that you said that gay people should be in books more probably isn't true. Think about it. There are billions even trillions of books on this earth. Plenty of them have gays and lesbians. So it is probably some other reason.

message 4587: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that is pretty true. I think Rick just ran out of ideas for what to do with NIco. I mean really? What else could he have done with the poor kid?

ihearthawaii I feel bad for Nico. He was an outsider ever since he went to Camp. Then he learned his sister died, and I doubt he said a meaningful goodbye to Bianca. Then, he developed a crush and Percy, and he didn't think that he could be accepted because he liked a guy. Then Percy shows up at Camp Jupiter, and Nico had to pretend that he didn't know Percy. And to be rescued from a bronze jar by none other than Percy. Then Percy fell into Tartarus, and was responsible for leading an entire warship to the House of Hades. Lastly, he almost killed himself while trying to save Camp Half Blood by shadow travelling.

Imagine how difficult that would be. I feel horrible for him.

Imma have to agree. He did push himself too hard

ihearthawaii He pushed himself way too hard. Now imagine that being you...

I don't think I could handle it, and he barely did. But yet now he is actually happy.

Just imagine it.

message 4591: by [deleted user] (new)

I am...
OMG I AM TEARING UP
I think if Nico were here I would hug him and tell him that he was always one of the people I rooted for.

I am about to CRY

>_<

ihearthawaii See...
If I could, I would walk up to Camp Half Blood ( I would obviously be able to pass the magic barrier ) find all of them, give them a hug, and start crying. They would think I'm insane... but I don't care.

It makes you want to cry.

message 4593: by [deleted user] (new)

Same. I would tell ALL of them that Leo is ok and we would all be in a group hug.

I am Christian so I kinda had a problem with the gods and goddesses thing, then I reminded myself that it is fiction

message 4594: by [deleted user] (new)

But anyways, I think I would so kiss Percy, Nico, Grover, and even Leo. I don't care if they got girlfriends. I will deal with them LATER
