Well that's why sometimes I don't go to school when I don't want to. If there's too much work, I won't go to school or sometimes I'll just ditch school halfway through the day. There's no harm in skipping once a while. WOW LOOK AT ME. I'm such a bad influence, telling people it's all right to cut school. For shame.

Sometimes I fall behind but I catch up quickly. Sometimes. I skip classes that are of no importance to me or if we're reviewing things. Mostly, I skip Phys Ed because the coach and I don't like each other.

We were on page 30 something when i said we would reach 50+ pages... we are currently on page 72.

10 or whatever grading thing you have. I hope it's not the same as the British school thing HOW old ARE you????
@Niecy, yes of course. I have a magical realm. no joke
The same reason I don't like it is for the same reason I don't like ANY of the "love" in any of Rick Riordan's books.
Friendship suffices in all the cases.
Nico admired Percy like a hero. Big deal. That doesn't mean he's "in love."
Admiring, liking, looking up to, or being attracted to someone is NOT love. Love is NOT a feeling.
Love is a conscious choice to do what's best for someone, even if it's not what they want. Romantic love can produce feelings of attraction, but is not attraction itself.
Nico's pity party about "I couldn't tell anyone. I'm such a freak, boohoo," is irrelevant because what do feelings matter in the first place? Are we so weak that our feelings define us in any way, shape or form? That we HAVE to dwell on them anyway? They don't HAVE to be "romantic" unless we want them to be.
So he liked things about Percy.
How awful that we aren't allowed to like people without being told we're "in love" with them nowadays.
Because what does that even mean? That we want to be committed to and have a future with them. That we therefore agree to show physical displays of affection.
Does admiring someone imply we want that? If not, it isn't romantic. It isn't "gay." It isn't a "crush." There's no such thing as a magic feeling that forces us to be romantic toward someone. It's a choice, choice, CHOICE.
Liking someone is okay, and has NOTHING to do with romance.
Rick Riordan severely under-values friendship, and that's the thing I've always hated about this series long before I knew anything about Nico. All the pairings and love triangles are ridiculous and trashy. Very immature understandings of love, but portrayed as reasonable and normal.
Ugh. Barf...
(That said, "being gay" doesn't mean you LIKE the same sex just as being in love never meant merely liking a person. "Being gay" means being sexually attracted to the same gender. Frankly, I'll say it. Acts people engage in for that reason are horrific and perverted. Straw men like Nico's pity party about wanting to be "accepted" don't phase me, sorry. Don't like bullying? Neither do I. How does that mean I have to support disgusting sexual acts becoming the norm?).

Love PRODUCES feelings. Love is NOT a feeling itself.
This article explains it really good: http://www.deviantart.com/art/How-Not...
I'd be pretty interested to hear you define it, but I get the feeling your answer isn't going to be very deep.

That seems sarcastic Avalon..... and love is kinda of a choice, you can't help but "FEEL" for someone but you get over it in time, its just hormones, kill those and see if you still have the feels.

Is this just because I used the word barf, or are you prejudiced because I said I don't support gay?

I know why you're confused. You think I mean "love" as in a FEELING.
Love isn't a feeling you can turn on or off.
Love is choosing to be selfless toward someone despite changing emotions. Love CAN produce feelings, but doesn't always. Did you ever hear the expression, "You can love them, but you don't have to like them?"
If you chose to be mean to your sister, yes you're choosing not to love her in that case.
Seriously, read the article I put up. It explains exactly what I mean.

I did.But i still disagree with your views on not liking the "love" parts in percy jackson and others for that matter. But, i get what you are saying even if i do not like it that much.

Why would you tell me that you disagree if you're not going to explain why? Don't cop out now just because it's the easy thing to do. It misses the point of discussions.

More like, I don't see a point of being in relationships if lovey dovey stuff is all they're capable of. I don't expect them to get married since they're kids, but that kinda goes back to, "then why do they insist on being in relationships at all?"
Why is everyone desperate to have boyfriends and girlfriends anyway?

I suppose that I do agree with the fact that love is a choice. But it's a feeling first. Love usually starts with all those hormones and such, like Kevin mentioned. They make you FEEL something for an other person. And once you start to "feel" something for a person, you choose to love them. But I believe that love being a choice is in most cases. Sometimes, for others, it's all hormones. They are drawn to the person, whether they want to or not. The person they are drawn to can have many flaws and yet they still love them. So I disagree that love is a choice but I also agree. It's weird.

Can't control themselves? I refuse to believe that.
Can't control their feelings maybe, but those are a small part of love. An ingredient. Not the thing itself.
We can control whether or not we want to kiss, hold hands, get married, etc, etc, etc.
Full-blown romantic love is a choice, and not one we should feel like we HAVE to make just because of mere attraction.
We can be attracted to things that are bad too, you know. It doesn't mean we're "hiding part of ourself away," if we choose to ignore it.

I have a connection with my mother and I don't have to be in a romantic relationship with her.
Same with my friends. Why are you telling me people have to be in romantic relationships because of that?

I wasn't trying to be rude.
I read these books for other reasons. Why am I forbidden to have a negative opinion on one of its aspects?
Isn't it a little baby-ish to be offended by someone for not liking something?

well it is one of the main parts of the book. sersoly it is like a fifth of the books and you talked about how all of them are unrelisic and it always have to do with love. when is it almost all the relationships start as friendships the closest love that makes no sense is nico and even that makes some sense

So then I suppose that every time someone brings up an opinion that opposes yours, you would find it "rude."
