Exactly H99 ^^ We've had heterosexual "dirty laundry" shoved in our faces and no one says anything. But when it comes to homosexual "dirty laundry" shoved in our faces, people suddenly want to complain.

You don't want people's dirty laundry shoved in your face, huh? Why then did you not stop reading when Percy and Annabeth got together? What about Frank and Hazel? What about Jason and Piper? Leo and Calypso? Now all of a sudden a character has a homosexual crush NOW you don't want the dirty laundry? Haha okay Kevin... And you try to make it sound like you don't have a problem with homosexuality. xD ridiculous... crushes in this series have been happening since the beginning. Annabeth had a crush on Luke, Percy had a crush on Annabeth, then Annabeth liked Percy back. Reyna had a crush on both Percy and Jason. These things have been happening! It's not a brand new thing to see relationship drama and unrequited crushes, quit acting like it is because all of a sudden one of the crushes is between characters of the same sex.

Times i wish there were a like button... lol

I can see you guys have faith in the Percy Jackson Movies

I am anime freak so I really want an anime for it. I also have been waiting for a Harry Potter anime (which I know will never happen). At least Maximum Ride has a manga... Okay you guys probably have no idea what I'm talking about xD

>"Development "
As i said before this is Rick's pander and I'm homophobic because i read the story for the actual story and not some romance book?
I can't remember how i started Percy Jackson(i think it was a fill for the void that Harry Potter left me) but i was fascinated with the Gods, that is why i continue to return, the Gods and Percy's use of his godly power.
Then it turned into the typical "all for Annabeth" cliche that is in every other book(my said "all for the girl" in my previous post), i still continued reading because as i said i'm here for the "mythos" then Rick introduced "Lord of The Winds" didn't really like his character... still don't for some reason, still read because of the gods.... NOW we have Nico's "secret" i could have turned a blind eye to this too like the other stuff... but it didn't merge well with the story, it felt like a later addition to the novel after he finished everything else and the Gods are drying up this book was very lacking in the God department(yes they all in turmoil with their other half but still), the book was very dry didn't merge well but you know what? I will still read the last one because i invested all these years already and i have hope that Rick will get back on track... maybe i got too "big" but these seemed "childish" to me and i thought this was suppose to be an advancement.

So doing the same to other people is ok but when someone else does it it's wrong? because this person was "impolite" it's ok to be two folds impolite and rude?
All i am seeing is people justifying their attacks on other people all through the thread.

Cherie i like how you skip some of my comments then respond to one later where it can be taken out of context, read up i expressed my feelings on that romantic crap already and i do have a problem with the "hetero" but i just glanced over it and put it out of my mind because people doing stupid self sacrificing things for someone they will break up with is stupid. I read for the "mythos" as with a lot of books i read, they have a great plot sometimes great use of magic but they like to focus on romance... its like you can't sell a book unless you have a couple in it. You Cherie and the rest here might be reading these books for the character development(romantic shipping and romance) but i am reading it for the Gods what they do, how the influence in the modern world and how people deal with it.
And before someone goes back and quotes my post with Leo and Calypso, i just want to see how Leo would get back on the Island i don't care for the romantic overtones.

I was thinking of leaving a post on Brandon Sanderson's facebook page suggesting they make an Anime for some of the books he wrote, yall could probably do the same thing for Percy Jackson... the movies put me off seeing anything anyone makes, i will just use my head as a reference when i read.

I do, and if the Maximum Ride manga is successful(which i doubt because of what Patterson has done to the series... i dropped it by the way), they would probably make an anime for it. Supernatural has a Manga too and Artemis Fowl.. i think
But Kevin, what is life without love? I would find a book strange if there was no romance. Romance is found basically anywhere. Whether it's a simple crush or some deep feelings, love is love. The PJO series would be weird without romance. Percy and Annabeth obviously had an attachment since book one. If they never got together, I would've been puzzled. The main plot line of the books is about defeating Kronos/Gaea, I totally get that. But love would've formed one way or another. You can't say that you didn't like when romance appeared in the story because it was going to happen so you should've expected it. I'm the type of person that is all right with romance, but I don't like too much of it. I like romance in the books to be mild. I think Rick is doing a good job in keeping the genres all about adventure, mythology, etc. Compared to some other books I've read, the romance in this series is pretty mild. To call it "dirty laundry shoved in your face" is kind of an overstatement. You knew that Percy and Annabeth would sooner or later fall in love so I wouldn't say it was "shoved in your face."
And I also think the Maximum Ride manga wasn't that great (Fang has long hair wtf?) but I really liked the art for it so I read it. The Maximum Ride series wasn't that great overall anyways. The ending pretty much sucked. But I still hope for an anime idk why.

Also, I agree with the whole romance being the dominant subject of some books but that's not really the case in the PJO and HoO series. I mean, when Maximum Ride was starting to become a romance series all about Max and Fang I felt like dropping it. When romance becomes dominant in a series, the books start to really suck but I don't think that's what's going on in the HoO series. Romance is not really taking over or whatever. It's still the same adventurous series.

It's because of the sucking part that they will never make an anime for it, the Maximum ride series is like a tutorial of what not to do with your books... i forced myself to read the last few books but it just went crazy, i couldn't read 6(that is the last one?)... if i did i think i would have strangled Winnie the Pooh.
Also Avalon when you turn 18 read the Anita Blake Series to see how romance ruins a good thing, that series had like 5+ successful books without any romance... then the author went shoe on head retarded with the stuff..... i only read that series now because of the magic and the world she built.. but if she continues down this road(more than she has) i will drop it. A bunch of other already dropped the series because it's like a romance novel more than anything else.
Yeah I agree, the Maximum Ride series is definitely a perfect example of what not to do with your books. I also forced myself through the last few books. It became all about romance that I felt like dying inside. I felt like killing Max and Fang. It would've been a better book without them and their stupid romance. Also, I've heard of that Anita Blake series before. I'll try reading it. Hopefully it won't be as painful to read as the Maximum Ride series was. I really do hate it when authors completely change the series.
LOL I would be the happiest I've ever been if they make a Harry Potter anime that isn't screwed up <3
And yeah Syd, I also think Nico and Reyna might develop something.. Even though she's like 5 years older than him. And Nico still likes Percy too. And there's only one book which is not enough to fit all this drama and stuff unless it's like 900 pages (which would be awesome!)

Like i said when you're 18... it's pretty intense, the first couple books are ok no problem there... but after Obsidian Butterfly.... yyyeaaaaaaaa

Nico is 70 years older than her... you forget.
Its like Aang in Avatar: TLA, he was 100 years older than Katara... is Aang and Nico pedo if they take a girl in her teens?
Yep he's like 14 right now. He hasn't aged when he was in the Lotus Hotel.

He hasn't age doesn't change the fact that when i look at his ID card is he 70 years older than Reyna or the fact that Hazel is a zombie.... because if you look for her info it will state deceased.

OMG they have a Clockwork Angel manga??? I need to buy it ASAP. And the Maximum Ride manga is ehh but the art was pretty great. The art was the reason why I read the manga.

This is how the artwork looks like

a;lsdkjfal I love the artwork holy crap

... so you stopped Maximum ride but you still read Cassandra Clare?... this does not compute.

I totally agree! It would have been perfect if City of Glass was the last book... Now it just seems like there's no point in the last three books.
I love the first three books of The Mortal Instruments. After that the story just got.. haywire I guess. Every one obsesses over Cassandra Clare's books but I don't see what there is to obsess over. It became all about romance just like every awesome series is like. First, epic. Then BAM! Dominating romance. But you know, just like you said H99, to each their own taste. (Nobody kill me please).
I forced myself through the last two books even though I was dying inside. I'm probably going to read the last book that's coming out this May, only because I don't like not finishing books. It better be at least better than the last two books but I know I'm asking for the impossible.
Same here. I've read the 4th an 5th books and I'm going to read the last one. I just need closure I guess. :)

Clary was pretty annoying but I just could NOT stand Jace OMG. I wanted to put my hands through that book and strangle the sh*t out of him. I think the only good character was Simon. He was pretty cute. Then he turned into a stupid vampire and I got pissed. I liked him better when he was that nerdy cute kid not the annoying Edward #2.

It really bugs me when people say, "Let's not talk about things like sexual ori..."
We automatically "teach" kids heterosexuality, because as much as people try to ignore it, heterosexuality is what our bodies are made for.
As regards the book, I was mildly disappointed that Riordan felt compelled to add NICO's sexuality into the plot, but I am also not such a fan of the teenage heterosexual love angst that pervades the books either.

I actually liked Clary which is strange but oh well. Though to be honest I like the Isabelle and Simon love better than Clary and Jace

... so you stopped Maximum ride but you still read Cassandra Clare?... this does not compute."
awks bc I did finish the Maximum Ride series!!! (despite its degradation). I just didn't read the manga.
And yes, I read Cassandra Clare. I've read them since I was like 11. But yeah, I mostly agree that the original trilogy for TMI was much better than the new 3. But really, it is a matter of taste, you know? I grew up with TMI, and looking back, there are definite flaws in that series, but I loved them when I was younger and I'm not gonna dismiss that, though I do agree with you guys on some points and I do see why people don't like her. I guess when you've grown up with a series, you have this sentimental connection to them.
But I unabashedly adore The Infernal Devices series to death. #sorrynotsorry

Kit if you read the previous pages we discussed the topic to death, what you are currently seeing is some of the older posters going off on tangents about topics that relate to the discussion.
An e.g of this would be Nico and Reyna's "dating" and how some say because she is older it might not happen even though Nico is 70 years older than her(i don't support shipping btw) OR how if an author carries a series on for too long he will be looking to fill the pages with romance or useless information that does bot relate to the plot i.e Nico's "crush/gayness". As someone who reads for the story and not character development Nico "crush" has no merit on the story what so ever. And before the naysayers come out in force, unless Nico will kill Mother Earth because he has a crush on Percy it holds nothing of interest for me, thus it's filler and should not have been placed there same with the the rest of relationships. If you want to mention it go ahead but making a big deal about it.... yeaaaaa.
These romance/crush things are full shoe on head potato, its like how Max and Fang were fighting a war but "we need to go on a date", "whoops they caught us lol".
tl;dr The discussions are on topic and relationships are just filler and ruin a good thing.

Don't really care about the relationships its how most(some) Authors make a big deal out of it like the world will end if these "DETAILS AREN'T KNOW!!!11!!", if the two persons in the said relationship are world leaders of the two most powerful military nations in a world and the peace/continued survival of the world' inhabitants depend on their union... of course that is of the utmost importance.... we don't want a war... but 2 kiddies(or teens) crushing on each other will not make a difference.
Unless Gaea is allergic to gay or something Nico crushing on Percy would come up nought in the end, we've had Percy's POV for most of the series we all know he likes girls and loves Annabeth, all i see Nico's crush adding up to (view spoiler)
That is probably it, the best books in my opinion is where the focus little on romance crap, i like character development but that usually includes some romantic development... and that gets me mad and puts me off it. There a series(one that i can currently recall) that did the right amount of romance/love, development etc etc thing perfectly it's called The Night Angel Series... 5 out of 5 stars, it even had gay characters( or one of the minor main character was gay) and the book was great i had nothing to complain about, there is a way how you do these things and Brent Weeks is great at it.... like i said it felt forced from Rick and out of character.
