Finished God's Bits of Wood by Ousmane Sembene of Senegal (west Africa). It was particularly interesting to me because it's a novel about a railroad workers' strike in Senegal, and my father and grandfather were union representatives. I think many people would like it, well-written.
A double-week for me with now Good Morning, Midnight by Jean Rhys (Brit). Four star read for me. Somewhat grim, but that's what I seem to like ;) Short, which I also tend to like.

I got my copy today...I've been told it has the highest Goodreads average rating (at 4.65) of any book in the Boxall list. It's in the later editions. And it's short!

Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne
Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe

So March is "Adventure Month" for you? Fun.

Finished Love's Work: A Reckoning with Life by Gillian Rose and The Talk of the Town by Ardal O'Hanlon. Not sure why they are on the List, I didn‘t see anything special in both of them.

What did you think of it? I loved this book -- it was so delightfully humorous and fun.

I really liked it. I loved the author's use of the hare as catalyst for action and as partner in Vatanen's adventures, as well as comic relief. It was a lot of fun.

A quick read and I did like the entwined fates, but other than that mehh - 3/5 stars.

That was a little hard for me to stick with when I read it a couple years ago, and not one of my favorites of the year, but I appreciated its cultural history to Russia.

The Museum of Unconditional Surrender by Dubravka Ugrešić and A Ballad for Georg Henig by Viktor Paskov. Both very good.
A Ballad for Georg Henig by Victor Paskov of Bulgaria. Five stars from me. Short and sweet (but not too sweet). Not very readily available in English, at least in the US.

I really liked it when I read it. Did you know there's a PBS series based on this book series?

I know. There are two versions - Swedish and English. I was watching the English version with Kenneth Branagh as Inspector Wallander. There are some differences between the book and the series. I prefer book.
