The price you pay for books is more than money.

rin (rintroversion) | 162 comments I decided to get The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher on audiobook, especially when I saw she narrates it herself! I'm into the third chapter and loving it. x

Who knew reading is a form of keep fit?! Great buy but kindle books are much lighter 😄

Maximum Beans (maximumbeans) | 521 comments Yeah, but I need to keep in shape. I might go for a walk today - to the pub.

Dawn | 1250 comments Finally! Lies Sleeping arrived. The last book in the Rivers of London series and the Waterstones edition has an extra short story. I'm tempted to read it first but I'm worried it might have spoilers.

Last as in latest or last as in he's not writing any more? I'm just reading The Hanging Tree so am a bit behind, but really enjoy the series :-)

I found The Lie Tree in a charity shop for £1 and a couple of local archaeology 'magazines' from a couple of years ago (actually bound and about 200+ pages) for £2 each

I read a book on Chernobyl last year and it was fascinating.

Phillip Murrell Bloody Rose (The Band, #2) by Nicholas Eames

was my last book purchase, though I'm not enjoying it as much as

Kings of the Wyld (The Band, #1) by Nicholas Eames

It feels like a clone of the original novel.

Last night Erin Hunter (one of them) came to a local bookstore, so I got my daughter Into the Wild and Broken Pride. Since I was there, I ended up buying for myself Spinning Silver, Promise of Blood, and a pretty edition of The Princess Bride.

CrowFox Mischief (crowfox) | 22 comments The Murderbot Diaries are wonderful! I'm excited that a fifth one is coming out in 2020, because I was so sure that the series had ended with the fourth one.

I can't really claim on how many books I bought since I've pre-ordered a few throughout the year :P. The most recent one that came was Middlegame. It's pretty good so far!

I have only read the foreword and first chapter but so far it feels easy to read but hasn't got to the "sciencey stuff" yet...I don't think.

I have put it aside a little till I finish Heroes or Ready Player One as I don't like to be the headspace of more than two books at a time. I can update once I get into it more if you want?

message 1742: by Vinca (new)

Vinca Russell (vinxlady) | 1566 comments I'd definitely be curious to see what you think of it once you're a bit further in, though I suspect at some point I need to just bite the bullet and start it :-)

I have just finished chapter 4 and it is very readable but does bring many concepts and theories in quickly: relativity, quantum mechanics, theories of everything, gravity and more.

It explains mostly everything but it demands your whole attention to wrap your head around everything.

Good so far, have a go with it, it is super interesting.

I just splurged on an autographed hardback copy of The Sword of Summer. It’s in pristine condition, so I think I’ll put it on the shelf and never touch it again.

I THINK I read A Brief History of Time (I know I saw the documentary), and if I remember correctly, it was quite accessible; not all technical stuff.

rin (rintroversion) | 162 comments Dropped a book off at the Oxfam bookstore 5 minutes on foot from my workplace ... and left with:

Elven Star (The Death Gate Cycle, #2) by Margaret Weis
Fire Sea (The Death Gate Cycle, #3) by Margaret Weis
Serpent Mage (The Death Gate Cycle, #4) by Margaret Weis
Skallagrigg by William Horwood

These are authored by writers whose other books I read some of when I was a teenager.

Just had my hard copy delivered :). The 2nd hand purchase was cheaper than kindle and my library doesn't have it. Looks beautiful, with inserts I'm sure wouldn't have looked half as good digitally. Ok, I feel justified breaking my 99p rule now, just hope it was worth it.
