I have come to the realization that I will never finish all my books. Well maybe in 30-40 years when I am retired, but not until then.

That's a great haul! Is it your public library that holds the sale?

so...being crazy pays off?
It is held at the mall near me, sponsored by the Children's hospital of Winnipeg. No trolley but did remember to take reusable grocery bags rather than using the plastic ones they get donated.

Lucky!! I'm quite jealous

Congrats Veronica!
I've as yet never won a Goodreads giveaway contest, but I keep entering them - hopefully one day!

Greg, keep at it. Your persistence will pay off one day. :-)

Nice one Veronica! I can't wait to read his new series.

I have read both of those twice. In my head I always heard them being read or performed by Monty Python....that was years before there actually was a connection.

That's why I'm planning to haunt libraries and book stores when I die. Hopefully, not needing to eat and sleep will free up a lot of time.

Happy Birthday too

Ha! ha! Wonderful plan Audrey! The true thought processes of a dedicated book worm :-)

Hot Lead, Cold Iron
Space Knight
Assassin's Apprentice
The Lies of Locke Lamora
Mistborn: The Final Empire (was initially reading a copy from the library, decided to just buy the ebook)
The Confession of Brother Haluin (I tried really, really hard to like the audio book but the narrator was horrible. I don't understand the people that loved it)
The Relic Guild

Poe narrated by Basil Rathbone sounds like it would be great!
With a good narrator, I really enjoy audio books.
Tim Gerard Reynolds does a great job with the Riyria books. Simon Vance usually does a good job with the classics. Martin Freeman did a great (and hysterical) job with the Hitchhiker's Guide series. David Tennant or Richard Armitage could read me the phone book and I'd be happy...
But this one was terrible. I have an audible subscription and have returned books because of poor narrators a couple of times. Usually I can tell by listening to the preview but sometimes one that sounds good for a few minutes becomes grating after 5 or 6 hours.

Love that feature of Audible Sarah! - I rarely return books, but I really appreciate knowing I can if I accidentally end up with a clunker.

100% agree Raven

Years ago Richard Burton was asked to do just that...it was so cool and funny at the same time.

The Hitchhiker's Guide stuff is funny enough to begin with. But the way he does it had me laughing so hard I cried more than once. His tone manages to convey that he is not amused with your shenanigans or this insanity you have dragged him into thank you very much and you can seriously see the disapproving look he must be wearing. Though the funniest thing from that Hitchhiker's Guide (definitely in the movie, I think in the book too but can't remember for sure) is his statement (when faced with a queue line and baffled aliens) "Leave this to me. I'm British. I know how to queue."
Simon Jones narrates the Bartimaeus trilogy very well. (He narrates the original Hitchhiker's Guide miniseries--the book entries.) Tim Curry does "Sabriel."
Do NOT listen to "Uglies" or "City of Bones." They will make you hate those books.

Wait....they asked him to... read the phone book?
I must find this."
I have looked and I think it was either on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson or The Today Show. I have not found it yet. Sadly many of the Tonight Show tapes were deleted by NBC years and years ago because they needed the shelf space.

My copies of Stranger in a Strange Land and Retribution Falls arrived today. Looking forward to reading both. :@)

Tim Curry was awesome as Mogget. The latest book, Clariel, had a different narrator. He was good, but Mogget was definitely lacking.

Around the Coast in Eighty Waves by Jonathan Bennett
The Fish Ladder: A Journey Upstream by Katharine Norbury
Italian Ways: On and Off the Rails from Milan to Palermo by Tim Parks
Didn't buy it but I am planning on reading The Aeronaut's Windlass so I can give a synopsis on four of the five Hugo books

I picked up a lightly used copy of Fairyland by Paul McAuley in a charity shop yesterday which looks interesting.

Also snapped up a few bargains at the local 2nd hand book store Why Call Them Back From Heaven?, Time Is the Simplest Thing and The Raven Boys
