I'm behind the game on buying morning star, just bought a ton of books at a used book sale but will hopefully get to morning star in the next couple months
Still waiting on my copy of Morning Star but thats fine. The signing isnt until the 23rd and it will be posted after that.
I got an ARC today of Sleeping Giants which looks like a very interesting debut.

I just started Morning Star, got it from the library last week but needed to finish up a Malazan book, that took a bit...

My brother brought home an ARC of Sleeping Giants from a Comic Con - I may have to take a peek at it. The premise does look good. :)

Yay Calamity arrived today!!
I'm so far succeeding in not buying any other books other than Sanderson... Not sure how I'm managing it.

I finally won a Goodreads giveaway!!! I won Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep! I'll be seeing her at the Vegas RT Booklovers convention in April as well.

Well done Shawnie!

Too true. Isn't it wonderful!!

Ooh that reminds me... I'm just about to post a giveaway. Not sure how popular it'll be though haha... plus I'm going to make people answer a question to enter :P

Congrats, Shawnie! I won an October Daye ARC through GR Giveaway last year. That was my first time winning so I was glad it was for a series I really like.

Bought a copy of The Eye of the World. People in this group keep mentioning this series so I figured it was worth buying it.
Big Wheel of Time fan here! Good luck with embarking on the adventure :) let us know how you get on with the first book!

It must have come a bit early. My copy arrived by post quite early as well. Might start it tomorrow

I'm glad we're not reading it until next month, though, because I am SO behind in reading a lot of prequels that I've received in the mail in the past two months like Morning Star (I'm most excited to read this one!), City of Blades, A Criminal Magic, All the Birds in the Sky,and Winged Histories. And of course I have two library books out now (a short story collection called The Unfinished World, and a YA book called The Girl from Everywhere), as well as probably close to 100 unread books on my shelves and Kindle. Sigh.

Tehehehe :D
I have been trying to be good in not buying any new books except tracing down second hand Tamora Pierce books. There is a particular edition I like, Scholastic Press c.1998-2000 ish, which have nice illustrated covered (not cartoony) and are the first ones I read. On the whole I can get them second hand for approx £2-3 (postage included), but there are a couple which presumably due to low number of copies are £9+ which is pretty expensive for what they are, so I am collecting the cheaper ones first :)

I have such fond memories of reading the Song of the Lioness books from when I was about 11 onwards. I definitely wanted to be a knight for a while after reading those!
They're also one of the few series that I still regularly go back and re-read, and I love them all over again every single time I do :-)
A bit of googling informs me that my original copies are the Red Fox UK paperbacks, although for ages I couldn't find a copy of book two - I read 1,3 and 4 and then hunted it down years later - so I have the Random House paperback of that. It's a shame to not have a matching set, but I was delighted to find *any* copy of it when I picked it up!
I keep meaning to go back and read her other books, but last time I looked (a while ago) it wasn't particularly easy to find them. Maybe it's time to look again...

1) The Marble Collector by Cecelia Ahern( completed it)
2) The Complete Father Brown stories by G.K.Chesterton(reading it slowly story by short story)
3) Irene by Piere Lemaitre
4) Martin Chuzzlewit by Charles Dickens
5) The Storyteller's Tale by Omair Ahmad
It's going to take me forever to get around to reading them as I re-read some old novels in between :)

I keep meaning to read the Father Brown stories. There's been a tv adaptation of it on the BBC recently with Mark Williams (who plays Mr Weasley in the Harry Potter films) as Father Brown and I think it's brilliant!

Idk, but after Sherlock Holmes, every other detective character seems less interesting to me. Father Brown didn't impress me so far. But seeing that I've read only two shorts, I guess I'll reserve my judgement till later.
And Mr.Weasley as Father Brown is definitely worth a watch :)

So true Vinca! They were just perfect to read aged 11-13, and I definitely wanted to be either a knight, rogue or wild mage for ages! :)
I enjoyed the Mark Williams Father Brown adaptations, but I confess that the stories remain half-read on a shelf somewhere, waiting for me to get back to them and continue!

I couldn't hold off any longer and went in to buy Morning Star and to my surprise it was on special and I saved 13$ :-)
It moved directly to the next book I will read spot.

I also broke down and bought a signed copy of Gathering of Shadows. It's much more fun to buy the books than deny myself the pleasure. :D
I just got The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell for free from some Amazon promotion (you can see how to get one here, hopefully)
