Nice! I believe Freya has a signed edition too and has met him? I wanted to go to the event but wasn't able to :(
I remember talking to Freya about that event. Sadly I didn't get to meet him but he was in Dublin for our fantasy con last year.
I think its one of the first times I've read books by a husband and wife in the same month.

Jeez, gonna have to shell out some cash soon. Final book in Brian Staveley's Chronicles of the Unhewn throne trilogy comes out as well as The Spider's War the final book of Daniel Abraham's Dagger and Coin Quintet.
Both series I would recommend.

Richard I absolutely loved Heroes Die, read it a few months ago. Such a unique idea. I will eventually get to the rest of the series if I can find them used. If not I will get them first hand because I definitely want to continue the series.

Still, there's a lot of great books out there to keep us occupied in the meantime :-)

I agree and disagree on this statement, I don't mind a little waiting since it builds up the excitement for the book. If I have to wait too long then I just give up...
Speaking of waiting....I'm pretty excited that Fire Touched comes out today, will be at my house tonight! I'm a huge Patricia Briggs fan. She writes good urban fantasy with a female protagnist and it doesn't just become a romance novel, I definitely recommend her series to anyone that likes paranormal urban fantasy.

Very true Roger , a reasonable wait between books can be a good thing , its when it moves beyond that that its painful.
Pratchett was great for a steady flow of books and theres a few trilogys I've read over the last couple of years released in nice timelines.

Yup, that's what I was thinking, the wait between Stormlight Archives books is almost too much for me, but Sanderson does offset it by writing entire trilogies in between...

I think I can forgive Sanderson. Its authors producing nothing but rereleases and guide books for years that annoy me .

I think it;s pretty much cliche to say it but the only time it has made me give up or stop caring about a series has been with A Song of Ice and Fire. Brandon Sanderson has at least released steady material in the interim and its only going on a few years for Stormlight,
GRRM on the other hand may never finish the series, has not released anything other than stuff like what Paul has mentioned and in my opinion has chosen TV fans over the book fans that made it possible for the show to happen. I believe that the first book came out around 1996 so with 5 books released so far is an average of 4 years between books. A lot of authors with big gaps between books will at least have periods where they release some very close together. I may be in the minority here but to me ASOIAF boks 4 and 5 have been mediocre at best on top of that.
I don't mind a longer wait if it means the quality of the end product reflects it. But when you wait that long for a "meh" result it stings even more.
sorry.... im done ranting

I didn't really like book 1 of Unhewn Throne, but I seem to be in the minority.
I've been reading the Michael Vey series as it comes out (a top favorite). They've been coming out a year apart, which I guess is reasonable. If I can, I try to stick to series (serieses?) that are completed before I start them.

And last time I bought the Spanish editions of The Shining (Stephen King) and The Pillars of the Earth (Ken Follet).
Just picked up The Spider's War which is book #5 of Daniel Abraham's Dagger and Coin Quintet. I've really enjoyed the series so far an am excited to see how it wraps up

...*terribly red-faced and silent, I go back to my tiny home.*
I got Something Wicked This Way Comes for 50 cents at the library book sale and The Stone Bearers for $1 on Kindle. I think it's a new release. I seem unable to pass up dollar Kindle books.
I bought Steal the Sky and am waiting on The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet to arrive in the mail. I'm impatiently checking my mailbox every day...

Started this one last night!

It's been a while since I read it. One of top Bradbury favorites.

So once again the guy that sets up the used book tables once a month or so ar my University has snagged me. I can never resist because his prices are great and he has a great selection.
This time I grabbed:
- Thud by Terry Pratchett. I am nowhere even close to getting g to this book I haven't even started the series, but where I am it is very hard to find used Pratchett books so I generally grab them when I see them regardless of whether I'll be reading it this decade.
- Full Moon by Jim Butcher (Dresden Files #2) I haven't started this series yet either but recently grabbed books 1 & 3 at a used book sale so was nice to find #2 for when I get to them, also heard the first book isn't the greatest and that #2 is much better)
- and finally The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas. Been watching the recent BBC series on Netflix and it got me in the mood for that time period and ha e always wanted to read it.
It all only costed $8.00 and they are in great condition so I'm happy

The second one is better, but "much" might be a stretch lol They're both entertaining, and short, pulp though. They are not chores by any means.
I think book 3 it really starts to find its footing, and introduces us to some really unique concepts and important characters. Then each book after gets better and better. It becomes a great series that I need to get back to eventually. I stopped around book 11 I think.
Great haul for a great price :)
O don't mind buying ahead, I have a friend that I trade books with and if I don't like them I donate them. I would never do it if I was buying them new but I o Ly paid a couple bucks for them so it's Ok.
