Hi I'm Dana. I am married and I have 6 children ages 23, 18, 9, 7, 3, and 1. We live in Texas and I homeschool my 4 youngest children. I love to read and want to instill a love of reading in my younger children as I have with my older ones.

Hi, my name is Marleny and I love to read historical fiction, realistic fiction, the classics and fantasy though I dabble in YA and children's books as well. I'm a stay-at-home mother of two and we live in Brooklyn, NY. I have attention issues so as much as I love to read, I'm v e r y slow at it so my challenges are usually very low. This year I hope to read 28 books :)
Hi, I'm Cynthia. I'm from Quebec, Canada so my mother tongue is French. I've loved to read since elementary school but now that I've graduated from school I've got more time to do so. I'm currently in a YA phase and I read about anything in that category. I also like thrillers, mysteries and everything that includes magic.
Hi, I'm Lori and I live in California. My goal for 2015 is 20 books. While I am in a bookclub, I would like to read a variety of other books. I like history, historical fiction, general fiction and chicklit.
Hi, I'm Sydna! I can't remember my reading goal off the top of my head for this year. 50? I haven't met it the last 2 years but I'm hopeful this year. I'm only 5 books behind. I just started reading All the Light We Cannot See. I'll read most anything. :-)
Hi everyone! I'm Alicia. I've been using Goodreads for a couple of years but I've never engaged in forums and groups, I thought it was time to try it out! My goal for this year is 50 books and I'm just winding down on my 16th. I'm currently reading Love me back by Merritt Tierce. It's definitely outside of my comfort zone (usually stick to scifi, fantasy and 20th century lit) but it's definitely consuming. I'm looking forward to talking books with all of you!
Hi, Dean from Brisbane, Australia. Love reading but haven't had much of a chance of the last few years and really want to get back in to it. Huge fan of Stephen King (especially his earlier work) and Matthew Reilly. Looking forward to getting suggestions of new books to read that are different from what I would usually read and to see other peoples opinions. Also like the idea of a book of the month to read.
Hello there! I am Maria and I'm from a city called Hull in the UK. I love reading and books and hearing what other people think so I look forward to reading all your comments and hopefully make a positive contribution myself :-)

Welcome everyone.
Nice name, Niamh. It's also my daughter's name! The number of different ways people try to spell it though (Nev, Nima, Neev, Nimah)is baffling!
I know Hull, Maria, I used to have friends there. I'm from a bit further up (Middlesbrough) but I now live in London :)
Thank you! It always amazes me when people have actually heard of Hull. It's good to see people from UK here too!
I guess I should start in order. sorry guys Hi I am Sammy, I am 27 originally from Europe living in new jersey and i love movies and books. I have a part time job in telemarketing and no worries I am not calling anyone here its for a college!
Hello everyone! I'm Cindy. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself over here. I have been an avid reader my whole life, but I am just now starting to use goodreads due to my recent Kindle purchase. I am a college student on summer vacation right now, so I am hoping to get as much reading in as I can before I start school again in the fall and don't have near as much free time to read as I would like (well I guess I do plenty of reading for school- but I don't count most of that as enjoyable!).
I am excited to get started and I love the group read for next month. I will definitely be reading The Goldfinch with you guys, it has been on my tbr list for awhile.
Hi, my Goodreads name is Bookworm with Kids because that is what I am! I am 45 now with 3 great daughters (14, 12 & 11) and a terrific husband. I live in Ireland. I read a lot of different books but I'm not great with Mills & Boon type romances or chick-lit-cocktails-and-shopping style books. I like a lot of classics and crime and historical novels and histroical crime novels and classic historical crime novels.... Do you see a pattern here??Anyway, I look forward to completing some of the challenges here, I find them quite interesting. Talk soon!
Hello everyone! My name is Clare i'm in my 30s and I live in Central England. I love nothing more than spending my evenings with a giant mug of tea and a good book. I'm looking forward to joining in some reading challenges here with you.
Hello all! My name is Katie and I'm a voice perf major in Kansas. I used to be an avid reader, but when I graduated high school I got out of the habit. Now that I'm in my mid 20s and reevaluating my goals, I'm starting to find passion for reading again. Some recent reads include Where'd you Go Bernadette?, Bridget Jones's Diary, Etched in Sand, Bossypants, The Help, and A Vintage Affair. My favorite of those has to be A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff. I picked it as an impulse buy on my Kindle, but fell in love. I think it was the way the author described vintage clothing that made me want to open my own little shop! :) Look forward to adding more books to my shelf. Oh and my goal for 2015 is 50!
Hi Clare and Katie nice to meet you both welcome to the group. I am fairly new myself but everyone seems to be very friendly and the range of tastes in genres you are bound to find something you haven't read and want to read!
Hi everybody, I'm Catherine, I just joined the group. I am in my 40s and I read lots of different kinds of books. My favorite genre is mysteries but I also read a lot of popular fiction, historical fiction, historical biographies and some non-fiction depending on the topic. I look forward to discussing great books with all of you!!
Hi! I'm Patricia & enjoying re-discovering my love of reading. Currently more light reading works for me, to ease me back into it ;-) I don't have one particular genre that I like or stick to, but I definitely enjoy a bit of humour, magic, creativity, love, suspense, travels, baking...and nature & animals, it seems (just started My Family & Other Animals). My bookshelf contains a mix of fiction & non-fiction, but certainly more of the former. I read mostly in English, but would welcome suggestions also for Finnish & French books. Looking forward to discovering new books with you!p.s. Would anyone have suggestions of poetry for a beginner?
Hi, I'm Susanne, 26, German and I love the English language! Hence, I read in German and English. Right now I'm trying to complete the Rory Gilmore reading challenge.
Hello,I'm Kris. I'm from Los Angeles, CA pursuing acting. I haven't really read for leisure in a very long time. Maybe about 2-3 books a year. Now I'm trying to challenge myself to read more and expand my horizons in this aspect. I enjoy mostly fiction as well as biographies.
Hi all! I've joined good reads a few months ago and this is the first group I've joined. I enjoy reading any and all kinds of subjects. scifi, horror, mystery, chick lit, classic...the list goes on. Right now my favorite author is Jojo Moyes. Reading her books is like finding a treasure. I'm looking forward to this challenge and reaching my goal. Happy reading!
Hello :)My name is Ana and I´m from Romania. I really enjoy reading and I try as much as possible to keep reading on priority list, it does not always work. I am looking for new ideas of books to read, even if my TBR shelf is quite big.
Have a great day!
Hi I'm Sherri. I've been on Goodreads since January. I have been reading books since i could read. Most of the time I have kept up with the books i read. I find that Goodreads is a good place to keep track of my books and add my past history with books. I've been looking for a group to follow since I joined.
Kara wrote: "Welcome, new members! Come on in, and tell us a bit about yourselves."Hi, I'm Rakhahari. I like to read books from different genres. For the next six months, i would like to concentrate on Indian contemporary fiction. I like to mention that Indian writings in English mostly deal with nation and its various aspects. I would like to get suggestions of books, which are not primarily about nation. thanks
Nice to be here, thanks for existing on Goodreads. My reading is mostly graphic novels, fiction, and spirituality-oriented, with a bit of politics, history, philosophy thrown in now and then. I set my goal this year for 70, which I thought was a lot but because of the graphic novels/comic books, I wanted it to be a large number. Now I see that some of you finish a couple novels a week! That's a bit fast for me, so I doubt I'll get THAT high, certainly not this year. But I am about 14 books ahead of my goal at this time. Anyway, I'll start a post thread thingie and backdate my books as early as this evening (three or four hours from now). This is a perfect group for me, as I'm on the FB too much when I could be reading books instead. Motivation!
That's a great goal, David, and I love your philosophy. I agree that it's important to read books that stretch you and make you think new things.

Hello Rakhahari. Not too long ago, I read a book about an Indian-American family with a gay theme to it, and I really enjoyed it. Blue Boy by Rakesh Satyal
Hello, My name is Toni, I am 50ish and a working mom. I love to read, cook and do my photography. Most of the time, work is in the way, but I still get some reading done. I just went and added my goal of 25 books, but how do I set the name of hooks I have read into the challenge? On my way to see what is new at amazone now!
Wish my luck

Hi guys! I'm Libby, I'm a 20-year-old full time student. I love reading and I'm always trying to make more time for it! I'm also an avid writer and gamer, and a lover of history (that's my degree subject). Glad to be here!

Hi Andrew,
thank you so much for the reply. I think it'll be a good reading.
Hi I'm Sherri.looks like I found a good group. I read a lot and will give up on a book very quickly. I read mostly general fiction, Suspense and romance.
Hey everyone !! I'm Ayush from India. I'm 21 .
I just joined the group . I know , I'm a bit late for the 2015 reading challenge .
I like reading books , any genre , nothing so much specific.
Hi I'm Jamie, I am almost complete on my 2015 personal reading challenge of 150 books! I mostly just like to read and I really want to get my TBR pile under 100 by the end of the year. Which would be easier if I didn't buy so many books!
Hey!
I'm Paks and well... I love to read just about anything, if you look at my bookshelves you'll find an overwhelming part of fantasy books. I do however enjoy crime books, drama books, historical fiction books and others, I suppose fantasy is just a way to really fall into another world that is so completly different from mine.
I decided to join this group in hopes of getting my reading back up. I set a goal at January 1st that I would read 20 books in total this year and up until today I have gotten through 6 books so I will set my new goal to 14 in the other thread.

Welcome to the group, everyone!Paks, this group definitely helps me stay on track with my goals. I hope it works the same for you! Let us know if we can help in any way. :)
Hey, I'm Riley, I'm 19, I like to read almost any genre, but recently I've been into dystopian novels :) Since I've been away at school my reading has sorta slipped so I'm hoping this group will help me to have more reading goals again :)
Hi! I'm Emily :)I didn't used to like reading because I found it hard with learning disabilities but I got help so I am able to read now. I'm not a very advansed reader so I'm trying to read 3-6 books this year which is a big challenge for me. I also like reading because it is treatment for my emotional problems.
My favuorite authors are John Green and Louis sachar. I love the fault in our stars, perks of being a wallflower, the curuios incident of the dog in the night time, to kill a mockingbird (we read it at school) and dash and Lily's book of dares. Because I'm a beginner I'm not sure what my style is but I often catch myself browsing thru YA and contemprary novels. I'm exited to share my fav books with everyone and be part of such a passionate community!
