I changed my Cover Love pick to

I've had the flu since Friday. Still had to work and go to class. Since I couldn't keep my eyes open much of the time, I laid down listening to audio books. Will post my cover-love review shortly and do an update on my stamp requesting post.

I love covers like the ones in this series, that are kind of like an animated cell from a movie. I love animated movies. This was a really good entry to this series. A little insight into Aidan and Lily's pasts. We get to meet Lily's father. I had hoped for about that but I suspect that's coming. Still hoping Graciela will finally make an appearance. So glad Sailor was brought back. I had worried that it would turn into book after book of "what happened so Sailor".

Elena is a vampire hunter who is hired by Archangel Raphael to track an archangel who has gone bad. Elena doubts that she will survive the hunt but no one says 'no' to an archangel.
The archangels are scary as hell, with god-like powers who see humans as disposable and Elena is dicing with death with her smart mouth and stubborn streak. She is terrified yet drawn to Raphael and he finds her intriguing and a pleasant distraction to the ennui of being an immortal.
This was a great read though I was scared for Elena most of the time as I couldn't see how she was going to survive this mission as the archangels were so powerful and cruel. She really was between a rock and a hard place. There was plenty of action, sexual tension, snarky remarks as well as the mind play of trying to predict the crazy archangel's next move.
For the Itchy Witchy shelf I have chosen
by Danielle Jensen. It has been shelved under both magic and witches, though its about trolls. I didn't realise that there were so many books with magic that I wanted to read - it was hard deciding (and I very likely could change my mind).
Hi all. I just finished my cover love book and it was good (and long). I'm going to browse around your shelves and look for a good witch book..unless you have a great one to suggest. I loved the discovery of witches and also have read all the rachelle Morgan's. Anyone read witches of east end? Is that the right name? I'll post my review in the morning..I had hibachi for dinner and drank two zombies..I can't feel my face :). I should probably call it a night.
"I can't feel my face when I'm with you"I'm not a huge Nora Roberts fan but I liked her Cousin O'Dwyer series. She actually has a few about witches and magic.
I'm enjoying The Witch of Painted Sorrows.
I think I did read The Witches of East End but I don't really remember it anymore.
The Harry Dresden series would also work because of the magic element.
Lisa, I enjoyed
by S J Harper. It is urban fantasy involving FBI partners who are a siren and a werewolf. It does have some magic in it and is shelves under magic 18 times. I suggest that you read the prequel
first as it gives a good background into the characters. I have changed my Itchy Witch book to
. I thought I should at least try to get in the Halloween mood.
I temporarily misplaced m IPOD so I am a little behind on my witch book. But I might still finish by Wed.

I was ready to hate this book. Boy, the reviews were wildly on the negative side. However, I liked it. I like Dani, I like the weird and slightly confusing/inappropriate relationship with Royden and Mac is back.
I think this book may have had a turn from Karen's original plan. My guess is that she made some changes in reaction to some people complaining that Royden had strange interest in young Dani. Whatever the reason, I was into the twist and enjoyed the book. I didn't love that it seemed that the relationship between Mac and Barrons felt a bit shallow - like they were starting over. I love the involvement of the other Beasts? in Barron's group.
Barron's is steamy and dreamy (if you like a bad boy that turns into what I envision as a huge hog with tusks) and this book starts with a bang (literally, and I don't mean like an explosion). This book tied up a few loose ends but also opens some new doors. I think we are set up for a great follow up to Burned. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Hi Team 13, Sorry for the silence again.. my life is ever eventful. Husband decided this weekend would be great to tussle with a kidney stone. I spent the weekend in the hospital sitting and waiting. While I was there I found this book left in the waiting room. It was meant to be:
The Witching Hour by Anne Rice
This book is responsible for my love of fantasy/paranormal books. I read it at least 10 years ago if not 15. I decided to re-read for the bingo. I've never done a re-read before (for the game). It has been so long that I remembered everything wrong. I'm almost finished. I will have my review soon.
I think that this was Anne Rice at her best. So inventive. The Mummy is also super good..
Sarah, I've been wanting to read the Grave Witch series. I can't wait to see how you like it. I was afraid it would be a bit like Rachel morgan.Mary, I've been watching the witches of east end on Netflix. It is so bad I love it.
Lisa, I just finished Grave Witch and loved it. I haven't read the Rachel Morgan series yet,(I think I'm the only one on the planet who hasn't) so I can't compare. I'll post my review shortly.Isn't The Witching Hour over 1,000 pages? You must have been at the hospital a while!
Sorry to hear about hubby and his kidney stone. I've heard that they are very painful.

Loved it!
Alex can speak with the dead and uses her skills to assist the police in a high profit murder case. She must begrudgingly work with the lead detective who does not follow police procedure and has a few secrets of his own. As well, she is good friends with Death, aka the Grim Reaper, who helps Alex whenever he can.
A thoroughly enjoyable read with plenty of mystery, romance, and action. Can't wait to dive into the next book in the series.
Everybody was quiet over the weekend. Not done with my itchy witch book yet. Maybe tomorrow. Looks like we just need one more to get our cover lover stamp. So we are doing great.
In looking at our card, we are set up pretty good for either the plus sign pattern or diagonal from top right to bottom left.
Just a heads up that you won't hear from me for a few days. I'm going camping until Sunday and won't have internet access, but I have my ebook loaded up and am hoping to get plenty of reading time. I will see what the new shelf is just before we head off so that I can choose a suitable book to read while I'm away.
Cheryl, the weather here has been so perfect. Hope you get the same. It always storms when I camp. You aren't wrong. This is one long book but it was there and because I sat with nothing to do for 3 days I am just over half done. I have another long day sitting today with my dad. I just might get this finished this week! There were about 20 random pages pulled out. Thank goodness the library had a copy. What kind of monster would do that?
Shelf! New2USeriesNot sure what I will read for this. I need to decide what kind of series I feel like starting. Kind of feel like I have too many going. So going to look for one that doesn't seem to similar to my others. Might be a challenge.
This shelf gives us one more towards the cross pattern.
Wow everyone is so quiet. I still haven't decided what series I want to start. But only have about 30 min of my witchy audio book left.
Itchy Witchy

This was just OK for me. For one thing, I tend to prefer 3rd person. But this book probably wouldn't have worked as well in 3rd person. The big reason that I docked it a couple of stars is that I wanted more magic, more witchy things. The ending just felt anti-climatic to me. I wanted some big magical showdown between Sandrine and La Lune. Instead I got a duel and one lackluster spell to save the injured hero.
Sarah, I loved Hounded - very funny and so well written. And I loved Atticus's dog. I listened to the audio and it was very well done. The narrator pronounces the Celtic names much better than I ever could and he does the dog's voice perfectly.I did get some reading done whilst camping, but I read two new releases for series that I already have going.
So I'm having the same trouble as you, Mary. I have so many series on the go that I am reluctant to start another one. I will have to see what piques my interest and find a series doesn't have too many books in the series - maybe a trilogy.
I picked Nearly Departed because it's a light type cozy that if I don't get to the next one for awhile, I don't be lost. It's the Urban Fantasy, Paranormal ones with ongoing plot lines from book to book that get me all jumbled if I have too many. I forget which vampires eat, which ones can reproduce, which supes only have destined mates, which set of bad guys each is continually battling etc..,

Review:
Things are definitely getting intense for Harry. As the series moves along I'm waiting for a lull or a moment where things just feel the same. While Harry is talented in getting in over his head, there is always some revelation or person or situation that happens that completely flips things on its head. I wasn't sure I'd love this series, but (as I'm sure you can see) I can't seem to get away from it. It's not bad, the books are usually a really quick read for me and I'm always entertained. I'd like to see Harry get some of the recognition I feel he deserves. I don't think the White Council really sees how much he does that's good. I'm excited to continue but I'm waiting for the shelf call to see if the next one will fit.

This was just ok to me. Normally books with crimes against kids bother me and I avoid them. But I kept going with this one. Violet was a little too bumbling for me. At first it was nice that she wasn't perfect where everything went right for her all the time. But that quickly turned into a bummer where nothing good every happened to her. I figured out who the bad guy was as soon as I met him. I also found Violet a little whiny and annoying. I also found her kids went beyond cute and precocious and way into very aggravating especially since Violet has apparently never said no to them.
Finally getting around to updating our read books. Lisa did you ever finish your witch book? If so can you post your review? So looks like we are just one book away from both Itchy Witchy and Cover Love.
Cheryl, I have seen a lot of great things about that book! I've been wanting to read it, but I don't have time to go to the library in person and check it out (I don't know if they have a physical copy either). It hasn't been available as an e-book through the digital library yet. I'm excited to see what you say about it.

Holy Cow! That was a bit more then I can chew!
When you count 1000 pages as 5 books it seems to be easier to speed through the pages. When you read one book with 1000 pages it is a task - or feels that way when you are on a timer. It was a hard job to squeeze it in a week (plus 5 more days) but it was worth it.
This was a re-read for me. This book changed my reading tastes in an instant. Someone lent me this book over 10 years ago and It sparked my love of this genre.
Some people find that Anne Rice can be too wordy and too descriptive. I find that is my favorite part of this book. I could feel how cool the mist was, smell the night breeze, feel the dust in my nose and I could imagine just what all the character might look like.
I love the middle part of this book the most. I would have been happy to read the history of the Mayfair witches forever and got annoyed to have to be brought into present day with Rowen and Micheal (I don't love these two).
It ends up I still love this book. I think Anne got this one just right!
Hi Ladies. Sorry for the silence. My dad was back in the hospital. I feel like a should move in and get my own office. Good News...I finished that long a$$ book!I started the New 2 U series. I should have it finished on Wed.
I am reading
Dark Descendant by Jenna Black.
I'm not sold on it. I have had to reread some chapters. I'll hold my judgment.
Sarah, I agree with Cheryl about Hounded. Super funny and I quit reading them and only listen to the audio books. The narrator adds so much. Thank God my dog can't communicate like Oberon. That is one of my top ten series.
Sorry to hear about your Dad Lisa. I hope he gets better soon. Going to request our Itchy Witchy stamp.
CONGRATULATIONS, Baker's Dozen! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'itchy witch'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Thanks Mary. Poor Dad. He just has a bad heart. Good news is that he is a fighter. Hmmmm...reader's choice. That might be hardest of all!
I have about 40 pages left on my new series pick. I will be done tonight.
Sorry that I've been MIA, but there has been a death in the family. My FIL passed away two nights ago. It was very sudden though his health had been declining for a while. Obviously I haven't had much opportunity (or inclination) to read, but hopefully I will be able to catch up in the next few weeks. I'm only about 30% into my New2USeries book so I will think about my pick for reader's choice when I have finished A Darker Shade of Magic.
My dad also has a bad heart. Too many years of scarfing down Big Macs. Every time he gets a cold or something it's a problem.

I did end up picking a book from a series whose covers I love and the covers were what original drew me to the series. I'm almost done with:
I have always like the drawn covers like this. Maybe because I love animated movies and cartoons.
