Title: Crimson Sin
Rating: 4 ★
Read: 8/5
Page: 246
Review: This was my first book from this author and I really enjoyed the good and dark angel theme to the book. Spike and her mixed band crew of a werewolf and humans. Talk about a mixed group but then there's the issue with Rowen who doesn't know that he is a Nephrilin like Spike and will also have to make a choice. It was a really entertaining book. I'm going to have to make it my business the read the rest of this series.

I'm going to read Hellhound which I tried to start previously and only got 18 pages into. I'll be rereading those pages since I can't recall what I started reading. :-)

Title: The Resurrection by Julie Plec
Rating: ★★★★½
Read: 8/7/15
# pages: 320
Review:
I really enjoyed reading these "prequel" books. The Resurrection picks up with the Mikaelson's sharing power of New Orleans with the werewolves and the witches have been run out of the city to the bayou.
Here is where we see the siblings as they are in the TV series. Klaus wants more...he can't have love so he wants power. Rebecca is still chasing the HEA dream that she is desperate to find and Elijah is fed up with having to always clean up his brother and sister's messes.
An evil foe is out to divide the siblings and turn them against each other, which is not that hard to do, and there is plenty of sibling fighting. Nevertheless, each knows that they have always been stronger when they are together and that is why they pledged a thousand years ago "family forever". Once they stand together, they are a force to be reckoned with.
I hope that Ms. Plec considers writing one more book to cover the gap between where this story ends and where the TV series picks up.
If you are a fan of the TV series I think you will really enjoy this trilogy.

The Heir by Kiera Cass
Finished: 8/8/15
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
I don't LOVE Eadlyn like I did America quite yet, but I think she's going to grow into someone I love as much, if not more. I knew by the end of The Selection that I loved Prince Maxon for America, but by the end of The Heir I'm really not sure who is best for Eadlyn.
There's lots of great options and that's exciting for future books. I think getting to know the suitors is part of the fun, so I won't talk about them here - but Cass created quite a variety! I also loved seeing glimpses of characters from the previous books all grown up and how they're part of America and Maxon's lives this far in the future. I did feel a bit of a disconnect from who some of them had once been and who they are now- I know they've grown and changed over the past twenty-ish years, but it still was a little jarring at first and took some getting used to. But it's super cool getting to see the family and world Maxon and America have worked so hard to build - and to see what has worked and what has turned out to be harder than anticipated.
My only regret right now? Reading The Heir when the next book isn't due out for a long while! I read the others back to back and didn't have to do this torturous waiting thing. And this one ended on a bit of a heartbreaking cliff hanger - I teared up a bit - so it's going to be a long wait! I think I might end up rereading just before the next one comes out so that all the suitors and details will be fresh- but I'm definitely looking forward to more of Eadlyn's story!

Also, I flipped the summary post around so the newest shelf is at the top and not at the bottom. Easier to edit that way for me.
I'm close to finishing my Free Space and am about 1/3 way through my Series Catch Up.

So I'm going to read

This week is just full of sadness. I found out that I have to go for a breast biopsy and then my brother is in the hospital because he was mistaken for someone and the person stabbed him. It's just crazy. SMH.

And, OMG Carmen...I am so sorry about your brother. I wish him a speedy recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you while you go through the biopsy...and the waiting for the results. It must be very scary.
I don't "know" either one of you but I feel as if I do. Please keep me posted about how you both are doing. Don't worry about BSB-there will be plenty of time to catch up and if not...well it's just a game. Your health, both emotional and physical, are what is most important.
Lots of hugs to both of you!!

Also Carmen, a very scary time both for you waiting on results and for your brother in hospital. Hope all goes well for you both!!
And a repeat of what Kim said above!

Shelved 166 times as Demons
By far the best series I've read in a long time and I've read a lot of good series lately. I'm seriously literally fixing to turn around and re read these books again right now!! It's not just about the love story and connection between the two main characters which is extremely HOTTT, but it's also extremely eye opening and enlightening. There's a lot of crazy deep issues that the characters have had to go through and the things they overcome and how they can see other people and who they really are and I love how the author describes the auras surrounding people and the intensity of them. This is really just an amazing series and I don't see many readers not enjoying this read!

Title: A Kiss of Shadows by Laurell K. Hamilton
Rating: ★★★
Read: 8/15/15
Review:
It wasn't bad but wasn't great either. This series may be a little too Sci-Fi for my taste - I had a hard time with the green people (or pink or blue)....why I can immerse myself in a hot scene with vamps, weres, or witches and not this I'm not sure. Then it may also be Ms. Hamilton's writing - not that she isn't superb. Her world building is exceptional. But I had a hard time keeping with the first Anita Blake novel also. I'm not giving up on either series but I've got other books I would rather start on right now.

Title: Hard Bitten
Rating: ★★★★
review:
I really enjoy the Chicagoland series. Merit is a strong female character. In this book I liked Ethan. He is usually a jerk but I really enjoyed his flirtation in this book. I found it fun :) I couldn't believe the ending so I really need to get the next book so that I can see what's going to happen. really enjoyed this book.

Read a book: featuring 'DARK' or 'STORM' (or any variation of either ~ IE: stormy, darkness, etc) in title, series or author name or a black or grey cover

I've looked through the books and it looks like the audiobook I started on the 15th is listed on the Demons shelf, so I will thank my lucky stars and use it for that one.
