Steph (angel4492) | 32770 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week (Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace)
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

Rachel if you wanna captain, go for it.

As most of you know I'm in Sydney, Aus.

So we've got 4 different time zones - though the 3 of you aren't too different. Wednesday 1pm pacific is 6am Thursday my time, so I'll probably be around @ 6.30am after hubby goes to work.

Has anyone picked out their Free Space book yet?

And Alisa, if you have any Qs don't hesitate to ask, as the rest of us are seasoned veterans at this game :)

Shelf: Strong Heroine
Date: 17/7/15
Rating: ★★★★★

Our Hero, Phoenix Pack Enforcer, Marcus, and our heroine, Mercury Pack Enforcer Roni, who is also Alpha Nick's sister.

Both have twisted dark childhood traumas and seem to be equally dysfunctional but in totally different ways. Whilst the sexual tension when they see each other is off the scale, neither of them think it is anything other than sex. Boy are they wrong!

It's always good to catch up with previous couples and to have both packs working on a Jackal problem was inspired.

Lots of action, lots of Dominic's one-liners, lots of fun and snarky humour, and the fact that Roni has Greta wrapped around her finger was hilarious.

Meg is still feeling her way and trying to understand what it is to be an adult woman who has choices and can make decisions. That is not easy when she has been locked away her whole life.

She has now been at the Courtyard for 2 months, and Simon Wolfgard is thinking of Meg as my Meg but not in a sexual way, just a possessive way, at present. He and the others who live at the Courtyard are thinking of the other human women who also work there, as Meg's Pack.

We get an understanding of how The Others think and feel about most humans when Talulah Falls was entirely cut off, partially destroyed and anyone attempting to leave - disappeared. Talulah Falls got everything it deserved however the innocent population also suffered. The Elementals were extremely thorough, however they didn't go in and make wholesale destruction and wipe the place off the map as they want to use the town for other humans such as the intuits.

Really looking forward to what happens next.

Alisa Free Space
Date Finished: 07/18/15
★★★

Of Blood and Passion (Vamp City, #3) by Pamela Palmer

This was the conclusion of the Vamp City trilogy. I loved book one. It was dark and gritty and really different. The second book was not as good but I still enjoyed it. This one......not so much. It was much lighter in tone and while I wasn't loving it it was moving along ok until about the 60% mark. Then all of a sudden the heroine becomes TSTL and makes one ridiculous decision after another which results in one ridiculous plot change after another. It seemed to just go on and on and on AND ON. I couldn't wait for it end. Very disappointing end to what started as a great series.

I am taking care of a friend's cats while she is away at a wedding.Friday evening one of the kitties was howling in pain when I walked in and could not stand up. A trip to the vet revealed a "saddle thrombosis" She had to be put to sleep. What a terrible phone call to make! I am just sick. Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by Darynda Jones

Read: 7.17.15
Rating: 4 stars
Review:

I sat watching the Buy From Home Channel with my dead aunt Lillian and wondered what my life would've been like had I not just eaten an entire carton of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Therapy with a mocha chaser.

Grim Reaper, Charley Davidson, has been holed up on her apartment for two months following the horrors that occurred in the last book. She has filled the space with things from home shopping channels. It takes a new case to get her out of the house. Harper Lowell thinks someone is trying to kill her. Charley is intrigued enough to take the case.

Reyes is out of prison and fully corporeal. His full time job seems to be protecting Charley. I am so happy to see him present as a man even if he is still the Son of Satan.

This series makes e laugh. I enjoy the craziness of everything Charley gets into. She is so often at the wrong place at the wrong time. The bank robbery is just such an example. I was happy to see Donovan again even if it was brief. And I love Artemis, the ghost dog that protects Charley as well.

Charley learns more about herself and Reyes in this book. I'm glad that she is branching out and growing into her special powers.

All of the characters in this series intertwine so nicely. I feel like I am with friends when I read it. Crazy and slightly unstable friends, but fun all the same.

Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between by J.A. Saare

Read: 7.18.15
Rating: 3 stars
Review:

Rhiannon's Law #27: When you're working in a gentleman's club and one of your dancers takes off those heels, alert the big guns, an ass kicking is on the menu.

Rhiannon Murphy is a bartender in a strip club, a mouthy chick and oh by the way, a necromancer. Suave vampire, Disco, wants her help in finding missing members of his family. He has a necromancer "on staff" but Rhiannon's ability to see twice dead is very important to him.

Rhiannon's ability to see vampires the second time the die is instrumental in finding the person responsible for a run of deaths in the vampire community. The buying and selling of vampire blood may be the key.

This was an enjoyable book even though it leaned heavily into the dark side. Lots of brooding and angst. I actually liked Disco. Sometimes master vamps are portrayed as such all knowing snobs. Although he is clearly powerful, he doesn't flaunt it. A plus for me.

The ending of the book was a huge surprise. I must read the next one to see where the story is going.
