How did you like Rebecca Lianne? I really enjoyed it when I read it in the summer.

I loved it! I like Gothic fiction, so this was right up my alley. I didn't really know what to expect and the first chapters were a bit slow, but after that the story got better and better. At the end I got why the first chapters were written like that: (view spoiler). Daphne du Maurier has a beautiful way of describing things. This is easily one of my favorite books of the year.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I finished the Monthly book, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Mrs. Peacock with the lead pipe in the study.
This is book 2/3!

I found it slow in parts too but I feel like (view spoiler) I thought it was a really smart story. I am glad you loved it.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
@ Lorelei I have you updated. You are almost there!@ Laura I think you meant to post this in the fourth quarter challenge. This is just an October challenge.
2. Colonel Mustard with the Wrench in the Study - The Traitor's Wife: A Novel of the Reign of Edward II by Susan Higginbotham. Impressively written and with a good historical background! Apart from the confusing repeated names and titles, which any author would have difficulty with, the story was entertaining and the historical characters made quite real. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars2/3
Guess #3: Mrs. White with the wrench in the ballroom
Read 10/14/2013
Guess #4: Col. Mustard with the lead pipe in the hall
Read 10/17/2013
Well done Natalie! How was Wuthering Heights? I have it on my kindle but never seem to click on it to read.

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper
"What an interesting title Erika! It looks funny.
Jodi wrote: "Well done Natalie! How was Wuthering Heights? I have it on my kindle but never seem to click on it to read."
I ended up listening to it as an audiobook because I also tried to read it years ago and didn't enjoy it. It was okay, but much easier to get through as an audiobook.
I think I liked this challenge best of all the monthly challenges so far this year. Partly because it's so much fun and partly because I read some books I really loved. I have met my goal of five and added an extra because I decided to do one book for each character/color. I am consolidating the six I have done so far here -- if I read more, will do another post later in the month.
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth
Colonel Mustard in the dining room with a candlestick
Kieran & Drew by L.A. Gilbert
Miss Scarlett in the lounge with a knife
How to Love by Katie Cotugno
Reverend Green in the conservatory with a lead pipe (okay the cover here is probably technically aqua, but I decided aqua can go either way and I assigned it to green).
This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
Professor Plum in the study with a wrench
Intensive Care: A Doctor's Journey by Danielle Ofri
Mrs. White in the dining room with a candlestick
Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield
Mrs. Peacock in the study with a lead pipe
Seriously, I gave all of these books either four or five stars. I think my favorites were This Song Will Save Your Life and Love is a Mix Tape. Best run of excellent reading I've had all year.
Congratulations to both Sibyl and Julieschreiner who both completed their goals! There is still a couple of weeks left for everyone to keep reading and meet their goals.I am glad you liked the challenge Sibyl! It really is an interesting one. I loved the game growing up and it is fun to find books that fit with the game.
I've finished 2 more books that fit this challenge, so here are #6 and #7:Crime and Punishment
by Fyodor Dostoyevsky 10/17/13Miss Scarlett with the Candlestick in the Dining Room
War Brides
by Helen Bryan 10/19/13Mrs. White with the Wrench in the Billiard Room

3. Reverend Green w/ the Lead Pipe in the Study - Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. Much better character development in this book and an interesting twist in the series. Worth reading! 4 stars3/3 - Challenge Complete!
I'm going to fail my "at least 5" ambition, haha. Was a bit harder to fit my imminent to-reads with the author name requirements than I initially assumed it would be!

Karina wrote: "I'm going to fail my "at least 5" ambition, haha. I loved this challenge but the books I read couldn't fit the criteria. I am going to try to read one more before the end of October. I also had to make sure all of my books fit my Every Year Challenge. It was more important. Good luck and let me know what you do read.
Way to go Megan and Cathy. Please let me know if I have missed your updates everyone! I am going to try to get one more in before the end of October. I am not sure though.

Just a few days left everyone! Read, read, read away. I started a new book but I don't think I will be able to finish before the 31st. Good luck to you all.
Jodi, I just started The Shadow of the Pomegranate, which I hope to finish by midnight on Halloween. Assuming I do, that will be my 16th book read in October, but only 7 fit this challenge. Still, it's been fun. Thanks for leading!
Wow! That is a lot of books to get through. I think I read 4 in October and am on my fifth but I don't think I will get through it. I have a killer headache right now and don't think I will get much reading done. I found it hard to find books that fit this challenge because I was also trying to fit them into my Every Year Challenge. It was a fun challenge though. I love Clue growing up.
Ok. At this point, I think only 3 of the books I read this month qualify. If I finish my 4th, I will come back and update. Fun challenge!
