I wanted to chime in and say I totally agree, I read
first and then I read on the prowl and I can honestly say it made the story so much better.

I was sucked in with the pretty cover. It is just as bad a a pretty label on a bottle of wine. LOL
Kayzee wrote: "I just finished reading

@Kayzee, like many comments here, I also loved the Mercy Thompson series! I actually started Patricia Briggs on the Alpha & Omega series, but I think I liked Mercy just a bit more.
I thought The Smoke Thief was a great book. I hope you enjoy it.I'm reading Inked, an anthology with Karen Chance, Marjorie Liu, Yasmin Galenorn, and Eileen Wilks.
(do you have to put the picture of the cover when you post here? I don't know how to do that, maybe someone can tell me. thanks! :-) )

I recently finished
and
. I did not like The Iron Hunt, but enjoyed both Any Given Doomsday & Red-Headed Step Child.Currently I'm reading
. It's good, but I wish things would start moving. I'm 170 pages in & they are just starting to figure things out.
Laura wrote: "(do you have to put the picture of the cover when you post here? If you'd like to add a link or cover photo, here is how:
When writing in the comment section, click the "add book/author" option, type the name of the book and select "cover" instead of the auto-picked "link" option, and click "search". After your title comes up, click "add".
Laura wrote: "I'm reading Inked, an anthology with Karen Chance, Marjorie Liu, Yasmin Galenorn, and Eileen Wilks. How is Inked? I've been debating whether to buy it or not. My library doesn't carry it and it has several of my favorite authors in it.
Jen ~ I ended giving that one up too, but did make it a lot further than Whitechapel Gods, around page 125. There was so much background stuff that it was info dump after info dump. The little part of the story you did read was interesting, I just wasn't willing to wade through all the info to get to the heart of the story. You may want to check it out, but don't buy it, get it from the library.
My last book was
. Now I'm reading
. Neither is uf, both are historical fiction. No Laura, there's no rule about putting the covers on our posts. I do it cuz it looks pretty and people can link to the book from there. See when you're writing a comment that it says "add book/ author" directly above the box? You can click on covers or links there.
@ Theresa ~ I thought Inked was good. A lot of times in these anthologies I don't read all the authors and skip those stories, but this time around I only ended up skipping one. @ Jen ~ I thought Viscous Circle was good. I liked that it was different, then second one is even better, packed with a lot of action.
I just finished "On the Edge" by Ilona Andrews, great book! Starting "Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs" By Molly Harper White.
I finished Dates From Hell. I loved reading about Kisten again in Kim Harrison's story. Lyndsy Sands story was okay. Kelly Armstrong's story was good - it shows the start of Hope and Karl's relationship. And Lori Handeland's story was very sweet. Now I'm onto another group's challenge book - HR.

Hi Theresa, thanks for the tip on adding a cover photo. You asked about Inked...well, the Eileen Wilks story was great but I've been following her Lupi series from the beginning and am a big fan. 4/5 stars
The Marjorie Lui story was cute. I read The Iron Hunt last year and, although I found it a bit boring, I'm glad I read it because otherwise I might not 'get' the demon references. 3/5 stars
The Karen Chance story was good. She was a new author for me. I've tried reading one of her books once before and couldn't get into it. Now I will check her out. 4/5
The Yasmin Galenonorn story I can't rate. I started it and stopped...will try again.
I got it from the library but would probably buy it just for the Wilks story...I'm collecting that series.
Currently reading The Devil You Know by Mike Carey. First in the Felix Castor series and it's enjoyable thus far.
I liked the smoke thief aswell when I read it. I ahve the 2nd book
on my shelf ready to read after I finish the Anita blake series. I am currently reading
Rebecca wrote: "I liked the smoke thief aswell when I read it. I ahve the 2nd book

~♡Katie♡~ wrote: "i have started to read Vampire Kisses"I've read all the Vampire Kisses books and while they weren't bad, they are definitely geared toward pre-teens and very young teens, IMHO. There are no raging hormones apparent in either of the main characters and that is something that just doesn't ring true for me. She has another one due out this year and I'll give it a pass.
Ok I've put aside
because so far it's kinda slow and I just got

from the library!! I'm excited to start it! It sounds hilarious!

I think after a few years, I will have so many going, that I will not need to start new ones, but get the next installment every month to the ones I already have going! wouldn't that be grand!
Valorie wrote: "Ok I've put aside

, although some of the fight scenes were confusing. It does take awhile for McKinley to develope the world too. But I love the writing style, very descriptive.
Lisa wrote: "Valorie wrote: "Ok I've put aside

I'm looking forward to opinions on Wild Ride. I have LOVED everything Cruisie and Mayer have written together. Sunshine is a great story....McKinley has a really different writing style from the current crop of UF/paranormal writers. Less focus on a central sizzling couple and more on really making the characters solid, believable and compelling.
Shera wrote: "I find that Mckinley's writing takes a bit to get into, but it's definitely worth it."OMG! Is Shera your real name? Pronounced like Cher the singer with a "ra" on the end?
That is my name--obviously spelled differently. I have never known another person with my name.
Yep, I've never met another person with my name either. I usually get called She-ra, you know He-mans sister, or sara and Shara. I like your spelling can't get that mixed up.

Bullcrap on the whole "people can't mess that spelling up" theory. You would be surprised at what I get called: She-ra, Shar-ra, Sherry & Cherry being among the most popular eff-ups. Then it really goes downhill from there, so I answer to just about anything that sounds close. My middle name is Starr...I have been asked many times if "Cherra Starr" is a stage name--as in "Share a Star with me". No, asshole, I am not a stripper--but if I was, that is a really nosy-rude question.

okay.. I would have pronounced your name as it looks, with the CH sound and the RA sound Cherra (chair-ra) or Shair-ra for Shera. I wold never have thought She-ra princess of power though....
Wow! That's crazy. I work a phone job. I could spend 30 min trying to get my name across the line. When they say "Is your name ______" I just say yes.Thank you Rebecca, I feel loved. It's a rare person who actaully hits the mark! The Princess of Power thing is old. Don't get me wrong I love She-ra as a kid, but some of the lude jokes people come up with are crazy. It also spawned a crazy nick name my fellow employees use one me: She-ra Princess of the Forest. I shiver every time.
Any who way of topic here. So, I'm reading
. It's so cute.

I just want to say before we get back on track...My last name is "Broomhall" - thank god Im getting married soon.

Im still reading what I posted like yesterday or the day before Danse Macabre but I am following the threds... Its friday afternoon at work, got 1 hour to go and was bored so I thought I'd join the conversation lolCherra I know how you feel, you would think they could get Broomhall correct... but they look at it and think..."nooo that can't REALLY be your last name!?!"

let me guess...new last name is something like Jones, Smith...I always swore I would marry someone with a normal last name--my heart did not listen. I went from one bad last name to another :-((
now I will get back to topic...sorry for derailing it.
it's KING!woohoo!!! i will literally have a normal typical no mess name
Rebecca KING, trust me I have all the paperwork in for everything to be changed over at work LOL

congrats! Surely there is no way to butcher your name now. :)

While it's obvious how my name is pronounced, no one EVER spells it correctly. And I won't even get started with my last name. My maiden name was Perkins. Everyone can spell that. With my married name even after I spell it for people they will STILL misspell it! And they'll say, "Oh, it's spelled just like it sounds!", while adding extra letters the whole time!
I just finished Leviathan and I thought is was really creepy. I did not like the universe or the graphic violent descriptions of the war. The long descriptions of the machinery bored me. The descriptions of the living air ship (whale like) and all the genetically altered beasties disturbed me. The interaction between the human characters was nice.I am continue to read Dead Beat and started Archer's Goon.
Shera wrote: "Wow! That's crazy. I work a phone job. I could spend 30 min trying to get my name across the line. Most people that haven't run across my name before pronounce it "THA-resa" or "THE-resa". I used to correct people and tell them the "h" is silent, but then they would usually respond with "then why is it there?" I don't know - why don't you ask my mom? :)
Don't get me started on my last name. Geez Louise! :)

I have a cousin named Theresa and her's is spelled the same as yours. I tend to spell the name the way you both do.
