it was not laced with flowery language. pretty concise, which the story demanded. I am surprised someone can hate that. a wonderful book if you understand it

BlaiddDrwg | 39 comments oh come on guys, everyone have right to like and dislike what they want. And I really get that Rawan may not like the writing style of 1984 (oh I love George Orwell) it's up to her.
Like, I deeply hate Paulo Coelho's writing style. I've read like 10 books written by him and I think they could be pretty good books if someone else written them. And I know that there's a lot of people who love Coelho. Yeah. Not me.
Just don't judge ;)

yeah, it kinda sounds like you're judging, especially when you say " a wonderful book if you understand it" are you suggesting that Rawan didn't understand the book? 'cause it sounds like you are. and that's what i meant by judging.
oh, and how about you not telling me what i should do and what i shouldn't do? and that's just an opinion.

we are not judging. when did I say she has to like that book . I just expressed my surprise and since you love orwell you might know why. is that judging?
and please don't put anyone on the defensive . really uncalled for

I deleted the previous comment cause I felt bad for offending you in some way but I guess that was not needed. it could very well be that she didn't understand it cause she specifically said she didn't like the WRITING. and what I felt was that this book is not something people like for it's writing, it is the content, the powerful message that it holds. we all are entitled to our opinions so yes how bout YOU not telling me how to react to something.
I'd like it if you end it here cause this is really making my gr experience shitty tbh

message 206: by BlaiddDrwg (new)

BlaiddDrwg | 39 comments oh i know why you like that book, I really loved it. And I was quite surprised when I loved the book that was my required reading for school (i was going to school in a country where they were giving us books that would make any kid to hate reading) so yeah, all I want to say, pretty clumsily, that I liked the book, I think I should reread it soon.
Okay, let's just stop it. I'm not really the one willing to fight over such a silly thing. Okay, maybe "fight" is a bad word. "exchange opinions"? aah, nevermind.
there are better stuff in this world to argue about. Like books for instance ;)

message 207: by BlaiddDrwg (new)

BlaiddDrwg | 39 comments your previous comment didn't offend me actually, it is really hard to offend me, so yeah, no offence taken. (too much offence in one sentence, but what the hell)

Elysia (lysees_pcs) | 25 comments Fallen wasn't all that good. I read it and will finish the series because I feel like I have to but it was just not a challenging read.

I also didn't love Beautiful Creatures that much

Yeah, I couldn't really get into "Beautiful Creatures", either!

message 210: by BlaiddDrwg (new)

BlaiddDrwg | 39 comments what's so wrong about Fallen? For a while I was thinking about reading this series (even though after reading the description I think it's rather a naive book) but now... well...

I've read about 30 pages of Beautiful Creatures and gave up. I guess I didn't lose anything then...

message 211: by Elysia (new)

Elysia (lysees_pcs) | 25 comments Fallen is okay it's just kinda predictable in my opinion and by non challenging I mean it was written simply. Which isn't bad just I like reading more advanced level books

The Hex Hall series. Ugh. Hated it. i have no idea how so many people loved it so much.

message 214: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Brasher | 40 comments Couldn't read the Mazerunner. Didn't love Percy Jackson as much as the rest of the world. But then there are books I LOVE, like Fall of a Kingdom, by Hilari Bell, that no one knows about or that get mediocre ratings.

Fall of a Kingdom (The Farsala Trilogy, #1) by Hilari Bell

I hated the Percy Jackson series. I couldn;t even go beyond the third book.

Haha Jane Austen books! Yes, I dislike them all, except P&P ofc. In fact, I loved P&P so much that I even consider Austen to be one of my favorite authors :P But...all other books she has written...they aren't that good, as people make them out to be. Persuasion is probably her second best. Emma was frivolous and stupid and irritating. Sense and Sensibility I couldn't even complete.

message 219: by Ana (new)

Ana (hellish_charm) I hate Gone with the Wind . I hate the main flighty character. I could not read more than 3 chapters.

message 220: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Choueifaty | 332 comments Ps i love you by cecelia Ahern. Everyone loved it but i just wanted to punch the main character in the face. I gave up and watched the movie... (Weak i know)

Omg totally!! I hated that book SO much! That book is so famous and so very praised but I didn't like it one bit. In fact, Cecelia Ahern herself is pretty much over-rated, I feel.

message 222: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Choueifaty | 332 comments Totallyy! I read 3 of her books and i just wanted to kill myself ! Her style is just so normal and her ideas really boring

message 223: by Malisa (new)

Malisa (jaygatsby) The Fault In Our Stars
Sorry, just couldn't like it. Too cheesy and pretentious. It did have a few funny lines, but they didnt quite make up for the mess the rest of the book is.

The Shiva trilogy
Frankly, Amish's writing style doesn't appeal to me. Didn't feel like continuing to the 3rd book.

Sangar Sdiq (sangarsdiq) | 34 comments Rawan wrote: "1984!!! It could've been THE best book in the whole world but the writing SUCKED!! HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT"

The writing style is formidable.

message 225: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) I was totally unimpressed with The Great Gatsby. And I find Hemingway tedious.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I haven't liked what I tried from Jane Austen so far

Dislike Nicholas Sparks, but that's not surprising because there's a large group that dislike his books, and a large group that does, so he's one of those in the middle fanbase authors

Popular books most liked but I didn't -

The Bookshop - won an award and good ratings; I thought it dreadful

Requiem for a Dream - rated 3 stars, not too bad, but the movie was much better for me since I couldn't take the writing style for this book

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) And I agree with being disappointed a little with 1984. I found it had too many dull lapses. I liked the book, but didn't love it

message 228: by Booksyes (new)

Booksyes Rick wrote: "I have never liked anything by Dean Koontz. I have nver been able to get into any of his works."

I agree, I read Odd Thomas for a book club and I was the only one who hated it!

message 229: by Brittney (new)

Brittney I hated The Fault in Our Stars. The only John Green book I liked was Looking for Alaska. I know a lot of people like The Fault in Our Stars but I didn't because it felt like it was too repetitive and frankly it bored me, plus I dislike sad endings.
