I'm with you on the love triangles thing...it doesn't bother me if a woman can't choose between two guys, what I find ludicrous is that two hot men will get hang up on a woman and not move on if she doesn't show an interest.
It sounds like you are actually looking more for Urban Fantasy than PNR.Here are some suggestions for UF; I put the first book of the series
Urban Fantasy series
Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
World of the Lupi by Eileen Wilks
PNR series
Psy- Changeling by Nalini Singh
Demonica by Larisa Ione
Elder Races by Thea Harrison
Andrea, have you read
? You know technically the Fever series isn't over. It's going to continue for quite some time. At least 4 or 5 more books. My recs (in addition to agreeing with Leslie, with special attention to Mercy Thompson and Psy-Changelings) are:
Georgina Kincaid Series by Richelle Mead (completed, so you don't have to wait for books)
Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh (the cover turned me off because it looks incredibly cheap and cheesy but it's now one my favorite series)

I love the epic romance thing, where the girl/guy sets their heart on one and it evolves from there (hence Mac/Barrons, Charley/Reyes).

I chose to post under the paranormal romance title because I'm into vampires too, so I thought it'd fit more, but you're right! Maybe I should look more into Urban Fantasy than Paranormal.
Thanks for the suggestions, some of those titles are actually a few on my TBR list. I just keep putting them off because of the cover. I'll check out the rest :)

I actually have Georgina and Guild Hunter on my TBR for a while, so I may check them out. I started reading Angel's Blood but it seemed like I was right in the middle of some Angel initiation or something like that and it put me off.
The difference between UF and PNR are not the creatures in it - UF has tons of vampires - but mostly that PNR focuses on different couples per book in the series while UF has the same couple over the series. I think this series has only one couple in the whole series
- although I think the last book is yet to be published.
Also, in PNR the focus is the romance with a story on the side. In UF, the focus is the story and often also includes romance. I second Night Huntress and all the others.
Since you liked Charley Davidson, I'd also recommend the Jane Jameson books, starting with
. I'd also recommend the Chicagoland Vampires
and the Guild Hunter series
.
Thanks for the clarification! Been reading books my entire life but never realized the difference between each, go figure LOL.
I understand your sentiments about love triangles. Good to know there are more of us :)I recommend Black Dagger Brotherhood
, Night Huntress
, Chicagoland Vampires
. They're all longer series so you'll have a lot to read :)
If you like your PNR with humor, shifters, and sexytimes, you might like Shelly Laurenston (G. A. Aiken). Laurenston's Magnus Pack series is three books long. Her Pride series is longer (and some of the characters from the first series show up in this one, too). Her Aiken series has dragon shifters.
I forgot to mention my favorite UF at the momentElemental Assassin series
It takes a few books to really get into it but it's awesome once you do. There is a minor triangle at the beginning of the series, but it is resolved.
C.C. wrote: "I understand your sentiments about love triangles. Good to know there are more of us :)To be frank I'll never understand why anyone at all can enjoy it. That's why I try to stay away from YA, unless I find the premise VERY interesting.
Does Night Huntress get any good? I started reading it a long time ago and just had to put it down. The dialogue was so ridiculous and the situations so absurd that I was unable to keep reading. Not to mention how awful writing wise the male protagonist was.
Thanks! I've actually had Elemental Assassin on my TBR list but had totally forgotten about it. Will definitely check it out :)
Have any of you read Grave Danger, Dead Spots and Mind Games? They sound like very interesting series, but a love triangle seems to be very prominent.
Love triangles should be banned. Sorry, but I have the urge to beat all 3 of them over the head if I happen to be reading a book where one is going on. Well, except for Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. But the triangle in that series isn't really "serious." Or at least, I can't take it seriously, so maybe that's why I can read it. Altho at 19 or 20 books, I'm starting to tire of them. Not sure if I'll buy the next one or not.
Touched by an Alien is more Sci-fi than UF--altho it has elements of UF in it. It also has some humour, and I've enjoyed the series thus far.
If you like time-travel, might I suggest 1632 and the rest of the novels in its series. Basically, instead of one or maybe two people being thrown back in time--an entire town is thrown back. It's a thick book--almost 600 pages long, but is a very well done one. The history is spot on (which makes me think that Mr. Flint spent a LOT of time on research.)

One of my absolute favorite series is The Gaurdian Series by Katie Klein. The Guardian The way it is written just flows so you aren't scratching your head trying to remember what means what in this unfamiliar world. You fall in love with the characters and when it is over you are sad like you lost some friends. I feel like its worth the read. I have actually read them multiple times. Hope this helps! Good luck on finding something to fall in love with!
I loooved
but I didn't recommend it to you because the love triangle is very prominent (I mean, really, really prominent). The world is very unique though.
- has a sort of a pseudo love triangle but it's so mild it's almost non existent. One guy is from her past and the other one is her future and she's never with both at the same time (don't pay attention to the cover, Mercy doesn't dress like that AT ALL.) She likes the one she likes but in the first few books there doesn't seem to be anything between them.If you didn't like the first book in the Night Huntress, then you probably won't like the rest. I didn't think the situations were more ridiculous than in most UF but to each its own (I'm not a fan of Charley Davidson AT ALL.)
One of my favorite UF series is
but the romance here is very mild - no love scenes at all. The books are ridiculously funny and full of action though!
Love the "Experiment in Terror" series by Karina Halle. Dex is so hot and sexy and I absolutely love Perry. I recommend these books and enjoy the mix of live, sex and terror.
The wolf series Betrayed, Bonded, The Finding, The Keeping and The Mating by Nicky Charles are also at the top of my PNR list
Vamp City by Pamela Palmer
Awakened by Blood by Marie Treanor
And it's spin off Blood Hunters
Graveyard Queen by Amanda Stevens
Elemental Mysteries by Elizabeth Hunter
I'm going to be writing a blog post where I'm supposed to list five vampire books that have influenced my writing. My dark secret is, I've only read three vampire books; Interview With A Vampire, Lestat, and Dracula. I loved Interview and Dracula, not so much Lestat. (Though I was wild about Buffy.) Can anyone recommend a few vampire books that would be in that league?
Author H.T. Night just released a new Paranormal Romance... I'm not sure how to share things on goodreads and whatnot so here is the Amazon link... http://www.amazon.com/Witch-Choose-Tr...
I double the recommendation for G.A. aiken dragon series. Though it is completely dif world ur not just thrown into it.Dragon Actually
Dianthe Rising looks promising and is free. I plan to read the rest of the series as it becomes available.http://www.amazon.com/Dianthe-Rising-...
I just put the first book of these series to get you started, but all of these series I enjoy! Eyes of Ember
Fast-Tracked
Weavers
Wander Dust
The Doorknob Society
Just started the Elder Races recently and so far, I like the ones I've read which are
&
.Currently reading book 3
Hey guys! I'm looking for a new series to read. I'm really into the tv show on SYFY called 'Haven' and would like to find something along those lines. A little mystery (paranormal is fine) in a small town, a little touch of a love triangle and a strong lead female character. Any ideas?

Hum, does it HAVE to have PN elements? If not, try the
Lily Bard series. It's set in the small town of Shakespeare.
Shakespeare's Landlord is the first book in the series.

I'm looking for books that are similar, with an entire plot and worldbuilding, and the epic romance on the side. I have looked everywhere on goodreads, all recs and suggestions but nothing seems to spark my interest.
There are 2 things that turn me off a book completely:
a) Love triangles. I honestly cannot bother myself reading a book where the heroine can't choose between two hot guys. I just find it so ludicrous and feel like it takes away from the story. That alone has brought down the number of books a lot. I've seen so many interesting series totally ruined by a love triangle. I don't even bother reading them :(
b) Being dumped right into the middle of a world that is completely unfamiliar to me. One of the things I love about Fever and Charley is that the supernatural is slowly introduced as the protagonists find out about it themselves, while the supernatural elements are completely unknown to the general population. Being suddenly dumped right into the middle of it throws me off so much. I just can't connect with the story (I've been trying to read Kate Daniels for 2 years and have barely reached the middle of the first book).
I know it sounds like I'm very picky and obviously I'll never find a book to read this way but it happened with Charley. I know it can happen again! lol
So if you guys have any suggestions I'd love to see them! :)
