I am a fan of his Castle Rock books, so I would add Needful Things to this list.

Kristine Schmidt (kknits) | 1 comments My first Stephen King book was Insomnia. It was not the fear factory that some of the others were, and I still love it. As I read through the rest of Stephen King's books, I was able to see links between books that very much were evident in Insomnia, and I was able to enjoy it even more.
Although, the short story collections rock too. Four Past Midnight or Different Seasons are quite quick and good reads.
