Okay ttyl
Well, I've finished a second book for the month--but not one that fits into the category. But I HAD to read it (really, I DID) because it was the first book in a series of which book 2 IS in the first 20 pages. And yeah, I am that OCD. :o)
It was The Remarkable Miss Frankenstein Not a great book, but it was ok. I think the author was working too hard to be "cute" with constant references to pop culture, especially relating to Frankenstein movies, famous actors who played villians etc. It was still amusing, altho I DID figure out who the werewolf was long before the end of the book, and there really wasn't any "mystery" or anything. Altho I DID like that the Frankenstein monster was named Frederick and had been adopted by the baron--and even had fans in this book. Hey, I've always loved the poor monster. :o)

well, book 2 of the challenge is now finished.
1) Eternal Pleasure by Nina Bangs
2) Playing With Fire by Gena Showalter (that's if its available in a non-Kindle format)
2a) In case 2 isn't available) Morrigan's Cross by Norma Roberts
3) Dead if I Do by Tate Halloway
4) Angel's Blood by Nalini Singh
5)Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris
6) The Vampire who Loved me—Teresa Medeiros
7) Jacob---Jacquelyn Frank
8) Coyote’s Mate by Lora Leight
9)The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing by Minda Webber
Melissa, I too had read the reviews for the Miss Frankenstein book, so knew what to expect. And I do enjoy puns too. But I will admit--for some reason, I actually liked the Van Helsing book better. It was also filled with lots of puns, skewed quotes and humour, but I think it was written better. I laughed at a LOT more of this one than I did the Frankenstein (that's Franken-STEEN lol) one. And yes, there IS a Renfield in this one--just not with Drac. :o)
But I think that really there are more humourous puns and quips for vamp books than for Frankenstein. I mean, really, except for Young Frankenstein and The Munsters there isn't a lot of parodies for it. Now Dracula, and vampire books, there are about a million things you can skewer for that. (And yes, for all those inquiring minds who want to know, there are nods at all the "greats"--Chaney, Price, Lee--in these 2 books)

I've started (but am only like a chapter in) Charlaine Harris's newest Sookie, Dead and Gone. I gotta tell you I LOVED the start but that stupid pr0n True Blood has me envisioning those lame-o vamps... LOL

And another one bites the dust, (another one bites the dust, uh huh, uh huh) oops, sorry, but the song just seems so appropriate. :o)
Well, Dead if I Do aka book 4 of the Garnet Lacey series was the usual riot of friends, family, vamps and Goddesses (Lillith gets joined this time by Athena) that the previous books have been. This time the excitement centers around the forthcoming wedding of Garnet and Sebastian, the wakening (after 150 years) of Sebastian's ex (and the mother of his dampyre son, Matyas) and how Garnet's parents are going to react to having a vampire son-in-law. Fun, fun, fun. :o)

I'll second that recommendation. I just finished the trilogy yesterday and I loved it. I was a bit unsure after the first book, not convinced the series was going to live up to the hype, but it did.
