Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 69 comments I just finished reading 11th Hour

This book is so good. I love how the book ended. It was a fantastic ending.

Leslie | 16369 comments I finished Our Mutual Friend today. You can read my review of the book itself here but I will add here that the free Librivox recording I listened to (by Mil Nicholson) was absolutely amazing! I gave the book 4.5 stars but the audiobook 5 stars.

I really want to read this.

Just finished Stoner. It was a bit slow to start off with but towards the middle I didn't want to put it down. It seems like a straight-forward, simple book in terms of its plot but its one of those that makes you think a lot - it did me anyway. Think it'll be a book I end up re-reading.

TKAM is my husband's favourite read of all time - we discussed whether or not we would read it, I wasn't going to, but after reading your review, I believe I'm open minded enough to be able to detach the two.
I'm going to give it a try after all the hype falls ...

My reveiw > https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Rising (Darkness Rising, #3) by Kelley Armstrong

message 5616: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 16369 comments I finished Fish Tails, the last book of a trilogy, which I found sadly disappointing. Most of my problems with it were due to poor (nonexistent?) editing...

I also read a GB Shaw play The Doctor's Dilemma: A Tragedy which I quickly recognized I had already seen as a Leslie Caron film (1959 I believe).

message 5617: by Angela M (new)

Angela M I finished rereading To Kill a Mockingbird 10 stars - 5 for the first and 5 for the second time around . My review :https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

OOooooh, I loved the Body Farm series, was on TV for awhile, but in BBC style, didn't realize it was based on clandestine location in Tennessee....it was very well done, I thought! maybe I should be reading more non-fiction...

I thought the book was so interesting that I looked it up online. The first Body Farm outside of the US will begin construction in Sydney Australia 2015.

Alice Poon (alice_poon) I've just finished Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace. It was an intriguing read and I loved the writing - there was certainly a tint of dry humor!

It's been on my wishlist for a while. I'm trying to read only books I currently own, but I might simply have to buy this one of these days. Thanks for your review!

It could lose a bit as movies often do compared to books, but if a movie gets other people to read the book, that would be a good thing.

Absolutely agree Dale, a nice story for people to read about our beautiful country, also.

message 5640: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments I just finished The Orenda. This book was narrated by three different characters; Bird,a Huron war bearer; Snow Falls, his Iroquois adopted daughter (he kidnapped her); and Christophe Crow, a Jesuit priest. It is set in the Great Lakes area of Canada in the mid 1600's. I was struck by how the words and actions of the three were so easily misinterpreted by each of them. It is very easy now to see why we are where we are today. It was short listed for the Giller prize, excellent book on Canadian history.

GeneralTHC Finished Bradstreet Gate: A Novel. It's drawn comparisons to Donna Tartt--which is why I bought it frankly-- but I think the comparisons are bunk. However, it turned out to be a really good book. Definitely a must-read for literary/contemporary fiction fans in 2015.
