New version of It?

I would hope so...The Sci Fi channel has marginally better CGI :)

I just re-read the book, and it's so great! I really hope the new interpretation will work out. And I hope they make it really unsuitable for american television family viewing! ;-)

A lot of live action King movies don't translate well to the screen, BIG or small... Can't say it's true of Misery or Rita Hayworth & the 'Shawshank Redemption' or The Body (Stand by Me)I hated that title by the way but the Movie made up for it.
Now 'THE SHINING'.. the live-action version was much scarier than the book & who can hate Jack Nicholson? He totally made the movie.

Really a re-do of Pet Sematary??? I think that movie is just as freaky and good as it needs to get! Oh boy!

I totally agree. They would have to leave out soooo much! It would have to be at least 3 but closer to 4 in my opinion.

Really? That's interesting. Scary too, I don't want it messed up it's one of my fave books ever.

I agree that was a fantastic scene. Pennywise always use to scare me to death!

Ehh I don't know if we got a better Joker, we got a new take on the Joker. Jack Nicholson nailed the performance as the Joker. The Joker changed throughout time, and Ledger reflected these changes through his anarchistic portrayal of the character. Pennywise will always be pennywise, unless King writes a new book to change his/her qualities around.

I personally will see this thing. I really enjoy the miniseries, even though it's clearly inferior to the novel in every aspect. I would definitely be open to seeing an interesting take on the book.
I, however, do not hope they cast a bunch of well-known actors. Quite frankly, the more well-known an actor is, the less people will see them as that character (especially if they're already type-cast as someone else). It works for T.V. movies, sure. I liked Pierce Brosnan as Mike Noonan in Bag of Bones (even though nearly the entire time I was thinking of Goldeneye). Horror is often scariest when we know the actors less.
Also, I think the miniseries missed the boat. While this actress was already somewhat typecast for her role in another show, I think Gates McFadden (known for her work as Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation) would have been a much better Beverly Marsh.
Although I probably think that because it's simply who I always pictured in the novel.

I would like one as scary as the book. I didn't think the original lived up to it.

Cary Fukunaga is out as the director of New Line’s two-part adaptation of Stephen King‘s “It,” which will not move forward as planned this summer and has been pushed indefinitely, multiple individuals familiar with the situation have told TheWrap.
... “True Detective” director Fukunaga repeatedly clashed with the studio and did not want to compromise his artistic vision in the wake of budget cuts that were recently demanded by New Line, which greenlit the first film at $30 million.
... Another source indicated that New Line was getting cold feet about the project in the wake of the less-than-stellar opening of “Poltergeist,” which featured a clown in its marketing materials.
... It’s unclear whether New Line will hire a new director to immediately take over the project or go back to the drawing board for an entirely new approach, but one insider told TheWrap that “It” was dead as currently constituted. A studio insider acknowledged the film has been pushed indefinitely but did not go into the specifics of Fukunaga’s exit.
Also New Line wanted one movie, whilst Fukunaga wanted two.
Absolutely gutted about this news as Fukunaga was one of the reasons I was hyped for this (True Detective). :(
Looks like the project is dead - again.

Stephen King @StephenKing
The remake of IT may be dead--or undead--but we'll always have Tim Curry. He's still floating down in the sewers of Derry.
Haha. :-)
I'm leaning towards optimism here, since the first attempt was so ghastly. I mean, it can't get any worse, right? They should at least be able to come up with a better cast in my opinion.
Any thoughts on this?
