Tracy Parker | 5 comments I have asked a few librarians and other posting boards. But here goes - I have very limited information, therefore I do not know if anything is a spoiler for sure...

I was born Dec 1973 (I think I read this around 14-16). That is the only timeline I know, so I know the book is not newer than say 1990. I don't think it was written any earlier than 1980 (that is a guess).

Two sisters (I can't remember even if that is right now) were traveling on a limited budget (I remember them counting change and planning what they would do as far as eating etc...). I believe they hitchhiked, I am not sure why, but they seemed to be traveling on their own and they are under 18. I believe they rode in a station wagon (not sure on this. I remember the oldest liking a boy and they were at the beach together. They were near water - my thinking was east coast - like North Carolina or something.

That's it. I know its not much as all. But, I thought I would try. The problem is I have read too many books and can't remember the details of all and they mix together. Things I am sure of 2 sisters, near water, traveling on limited budget.

If someone solves this - please know you are amazing! Hoping to find it, it was one of those books that really touched my life and want my girls to read it.

Maybe a few questions will jog your memory.

Do remember the age difference of the girls? Were they close in age or was it a teen with a 5 yr old, for example?

Did you read this book for school? Did you check it out from the library, buy it, borrow it, etc?

Anything about the bookcover?

Was it a historical setting or was it set in the time the book was written?

About how many pages?

Did it seem more like a book geared towards teens or grade school students?
