Hi Steve, the only other Eliot I've read was Adam Bede. I give 5* to Silas, having just finished this weekend, but only 3* to Adam. I'm interested to see how Middlemarch stacks up.

Crud. I don't know why I had in my head that Foe was available for Kindle. Only a few Coetzee titles are. So while I wait for a paper copy to get to me, I'm taking up Wilkie Collins' Moonstone on kindle. I understand a character refers regularly to Robinson Crusoe, so at least I'll have some connection with the RC story while I wait for Foe in the mail.
