Just started one of the older titles, The Adventurous Simplicissimus. Reminds me a little of The Pilgrim's Progress with the same style of language and heavy religious themes, but I'm thus far enjoying it quite a bit more than that one.
Started Kidnapped and Smiley's People which will finally allow me to complete the Smiley series. Yes, I'm OCD, I've been reading them all in order.
Started A Gate at the Stairs a couple of days ago. Not sure what I think of it yet, though the translation I'm reading seems to be pretty bad.
I also started Freedom by Jonathan Franzen on my kindle and 1001 Nights on Audio.

This is one of my favorite books. It could be that before Jerry Garcia died, I did follow the Dead around (and the remaining band members after his death). I love Kesey and the Pranksters. :)

Banville's THE SEA. I was super exhausted when I read the first 20 pages last night, so I'll see if I like it better when I get back to it this evening.
Linda wrote: "Don Quixote on audiobook."Is it good "reading" Don Quixote on audio book? I'm reading the actual book and as it's obviously translated and quite old it has lots of footnotes to explain the gaps in language and unfamiliar translations, being that it's an audio book you're listening to i suppose you don't get footnotes? Does it make it difficult to understand? How long is the audio book? I've been reading this book forever now and can't wait to finish!
Started The Baron in the Trees, the final part of Our Ancestors: The Cloven Viscount, The Baron in the Trees, The Non-Existent Knight.
I'm about a third of the way through Mrs. Dalloway. It's my first Virginia Woolf (I heard it was the easiest to start with) and I'm really enjoying it so far!
I'm about halfway throughThe Art of Fielding. I'm in college and an athlete so it's really appealing to me so far. I just discovered the list and I'm having a blast.
Colleen wrote: "Just started The Secret History by Donna Tartr."I am currently reading this one, too. Very intriguing!

I love her as well! I've read all of her books except for Mansfield Park. So far, Pride and Prejudice is still my favorite book of all time.
Just started Howards End by E.M. Forster. I've read both A Room With A View and A Passage to India and I really enjoyed both. I look forward to this one as well.
After the Quake by Haruki Murakami. Oddly dreamlike, similar to 1Q84 but much, much shorter. Also, The Pleasant History of Thomas of Reading, which I do not have high hopes for.

Maybe it would be easier to catalogue which of us do not like Austen. Probably for another thread. I too love her work.
I just finished The Bell Jar...and needed to decide on my next book...then saw that Doris Lessing died today...and I just happened to have her novel The Grass is Singing nearby...so, I'm going to start that now.
Today I started The Art of Fielding. I wasn't intending to read this one quite yet but I found it on the staff recommends table at my local bookstore yesterday and they haven't let me down yet.
Intimacy - KureishiIntimacy: das Buch zum Film von Patrice Chéreau
I'm reading the English version of this novel, not the German.
I started Dracula today. I am actually still reading Don Quixote- I can imagine I'll be reading it for the rest of my life- just renewed it from the library for the 4th month! But i was at work and on a break with only my phone for company so decided to read a book on my phone which happens to be Dracula. It's pretty good and readable so far :)
About 90 pages into Crash by J.G.Ballard. Was not sure about it initially but am getting into it now.
Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying.Since the main character works in a bookstore, there are a lot of literary references, and I'm terrible at keeping track of these for my Group friends. One notable so far has been our recent Group read: The Forsyte Saga.
