First timer here - I have only an idea of the game - Can't wait for it to start.

I will be around to see what the word of the week is. But I won't be around at all on Thursday, sporadically on Friday and not at all on Saturday.
Since everyone is new but me, I will make a couple of suggestions.
First we need to come up with a team name.
Second we need to pick a captain. Since I've done this several times I will be happy to do, it will just be difficult this week, but Jenne has said she will help. But if someone else wants to do it I will be happy to give pointers!
Third start looking in books for the WOW and the BOW. You should have a book for each word. Remember that the WOW has to be exact but not the BOW.
I will friend everyone and if you will send me the names of books you found for each word and whether it has the bonus in it or not, I will create a spreadsheet to keep track.
If you want to win, you must read the book within the week and it must have the bonus word in it. Teams that have won in the past (my last team came in third) have always found all the bonuses. Think about how competitive you want to be. I'm okay with all different levels of competitiveness.
I'm sure I will come up with some more suggestions, but it's time to go bet my nails and toes done!!
I'm excited!!

I'd offer to be captain but it'll be like walking in the dark. And you know how competitive I am :)

The only thing that comes to mind is Luck o' the Irish or we could just be known as Roarke's Team!! Which makes me happy LOL!!
We can all post where we live and time zones.
Vi is in Singapore (she's on opposite time I think)
I'm in Louisiana and on CST

Search for book (can't be ebook). Once you are on the book's amazon page, run cursor over cover image and a small box will appear that says "search inside this book". Put in word (exactly for WOW) and hit enter. All instances will appear in a box.
There are a very few books, that for whatever reason, this feature does not work. I read ebooks - if you need a lookup for a word, please don't hesitate to ask.

I forgot to mention that when you are looking for books to be sure and match the letters in the word. It's best to have at least one book for each letter to start the challenge. As we move through the weeks, we can let the team know if we don't have a particular letter because we have read the book.

For example
Look for any books you have that have the letters B A B Y in the title, series title or author's name. Then search for the word baby in the book. If you find it, make a note, then look to see if it has all the bonus words in it and make a note of which ones it has. You will then have a big list of books. You can send me the list PM and I have set up a spreadsheet. That way when the word is called we will know who can read which letter. It makes things go much smoother and quicker to do this prep work. Does this make sense?

So excited for the word being called tomorrow. Hope everyone will be able to get on and claim a letter. I will be on sometime tomorrow morning and check in!

1. We can use the title (excluding A, An, The as whichever works)
2. Author First Name OR Last Name
And I can't use Nestled for Nest, correct?
Thanks for answering!

And Nest must be nest only.

So, I'm good for all the letters except E. I can do either N, S or T. Just let me know.
ETA: I found a book for E too but Laura can have it.

Hope you had fun with your cousin!! Where do you live BTW?
At this point we should do first come, first served! So this is what we have so far
N Vi Now You See Her(both WOW and BOW)
E Laura
S Leslie Running Scared (both WOW and BOW)
T Marty ?
If I could have S it has both Nest and the Bonus word.
Also if people will post what they are going to read and let me know if it has the WOW and the BOW it will help alot. So at this point, Vi - you can pick what letter you want and we will wait to hear from Marty. I will PM her and let her know to check the thread.
Great work Team!! And thanks Jenne for all your help.

Yep, it has both WOW and BOW.

I finished my book and I'll have a review up tomorrow. We're meeting some relatives for lunch and I'll be out all day.

Oh, I like Leabhair Grá. It's an unusual team name. Let's see what Leslie & Laura say.

And I love Leabhair Gra!! Great team name.
I will look forward to your review, Vi!! I haven't started my book yet, but I should soon. I am finishing one up and then I'll start.

Book:Now You See Her by Linda Howard
Date: 20 July
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review:
Really, Linda Howard can write such unusual stories. Paris Sweeney is an artist who sells her paintings in a gallery nearby. Candra is the owner of the said and is on good terms with Paris. Candra is also currently in a divorce proceedings with her husband Richard. Who is also her male lead.
Paris really is an oblivious person. By her musings on Richard, we know how the story would proceed albeit uncomfortably. And Richard reciprocates this which Paris takes some time to understand. Howard manages this awkwardness little deftly and the pace of the story is good. The Paranormal aspect is handled fine even though I could tell who the murderer was way earlier.
All in all, a good fast read.
WoW & Bonus Word:
Nest: Page 57 (Amazon) - She moved quietly as a ghost, back to her bedroom and the warm nest of her bed.
Newspaper: Page 330 (Amazon) - He flirted with the waitress in the little restaurant, pretended to read a newspaper, dawdled over his pasta....

Marty, you need to post your review on this thread. Look at the format that Vi used and you can follow that. You need to put the page number for where you found the words. Thanks so much!! I'm so glad you liked your book. It looked like an interesting book when I looked it up.

Book: These Granite Islands: A Novel by Sarah Stonich
Date: July 21
Rating: Five stars
Review:
Isobel Howard is bedridden in a St. Paul hospital, suffering from the aftermath of a stroke. Failing physically but still mentally sharp at 100 years old, she begins to recount the events in her life to her only living son, Thomas. The plot alternates between her present situation and her past, a past that Thomas knows little or nothing about.
It's 1936 in Cypress, Minnesota and young Isobel is at an emotional crossroads in her married life. Her husband, Victor, has purchased an island without telling her and taken their two sons camping on it for the summer. As she and her daughter, Louisa, work to create enough space in Victor's tailor shop to accommodate her new millinery business, they meet lovely, disturbed Cathryn Malloy, wife of a mine manager. Cathryn helps Isobel get the new business off of the ground. The two quickly become close friends.
Cathryn, as it turns out, is having an affair with a young forest ranger, Jack Reese. She confesses to Isobel, not realizing that Louisa is in the room and has heard every word. Isobel is drawn into the couple's clandestine activities, serving as lookout during their meetings on one of the islands of the title. She even overcomes her paralyzing fear of water in order to paddle out in a canoe and watch for Cathryn's husband, Liam. As the summer passes, Cathryn's strange moods become darker and Jack becomes more desperate to find a means of escape for them both. Events take a tragic turn, leaving Isobel devastated and the town in an uproar.
If I have a criticism of this otherwise excellent novel, it's that the ending is given away rather early in the story. It was also a little bit predictable. Still, it was good enough to overcome these issues. I still think it's worth five starts.
WOW and Bonus Word
Nest: (Amazon) page 25 - "Page 25 …with time enough to sit and watch a bird build its nest ..."
Newspaper: "Page 20 …left ages ago." "That was yesterday." He lowered his newspaper …"

Bonus Word: Newspaper

Book: Running Scared
Date Read: 7/23/13
Rating:**** stars
Review:
I really enjoyed this installment in the Sentinels series. I am beginning to understand this world that the author created and the unique characteristics of the Sentinels and why they need these women is beginning to seem normal. Lexie and Zach are an interesting couple and though not alot happens in the story, it is moved forward by the storyline and by the inclusion of a few other peripheral stories.
