Its so sweet to see my sons face light up and him repeating "thank you mommy" when I give him a pile of used books I picked up while he was at preschool.

That's really nice, I love it when kids like to read. My son was like that Joycedale. When Nick was about 11 or 12 I gave him a set of Terry Pratcett books, it was 4 books with 3 books in each one. He still has them, and he's 26!
My 4 yr old son was eating string cheese last night, some of it was hanging out of his mouth. He stated he was an Ood.My 5yr old son, held up two crackers on the side of his head and stated he was a Dalek.
LMAO
My grandson s Christmas present arrived today, what a relief I thought it wasn't going to get here on time. I'd of been screwed if his boots hadn't of turned up!
Well, the Classic Who is great. Love Tom Baker, Patrick Troughton. Love the one with The Three Doctors and the Five Doctors.
My boys sat with me one day and watched the very first Dalek series, with William Hartnell. A whole Black and White series.
I thought Tom Baker was the best doctor, I remember him from when I was a kid. But my kids watched the original star trek, not the later series. The ones that had the Tribbles. The cat at the moment is purring at my side under the quilt with her head on my shoulder!! I remember when it was my kids that did this!

I was looking a Wikipedia though, and they say the show didn't start airing until the Jon Pertwee series. That doesn't seem right. Either way, my favorites were definitely Tom Baker and Peter Davidson. Peter Davidson, because I had enjoyed watching him on 'All Creatures Great and Small'.

I liked the Next Generation series, but I really got into the original series. 'The Trouble with Tribbles', was definitely my favorite episode. I used to have a book about the making of that episode, as well as some of the novels based on the original series that were written by James Blish! I remember thinking how cool it would have been to buy one of the tribbles they sold back then, especially a pregnant one:)
Something very interesting happened to me over Christmas: The two daughters (5 and 8) of my cousin stayed at our place for a sleep-over. When I told them to go to bed at 9 p.m. they asked: " Why doesn't Yanice have to go to bed?" My mum: " She is an adult, she can go to bed when she wants". The answer left my smiling lightly. They said: "No, she isn't an adult - she doesn't have a man!". Well, thanks for pointing that out!
I AM THE MASTER! Our kids broke the tv remote yesterday so my husband went and got a universal remote he messed with it an hr to trying to set the tv. He finally asked me for help, after 10 mins I had it set to the tv and dvd player :-D
I'm so crap at stuff like that, its took me hours today to just try to find out how to delte gmail message's.!! I think I've got it worked out now, lol
Everyone turns to me for assisstance with electronic gadgets. I kinda have a knack for figuring them out. I thimk some of us are born with that gift, Joycedale.
Yeah both my sons have the knack for tech. I'm always on the phone asking for help! They always sort things out so fast, lol
I'm the same way, Adam. My husband calls me GG - for Gadget Girl - because I want all the latest greatest gadgets on the market, whether for computers or my kitchen, it doesn't matter. And friends come to me with phones or whatever, telling me they need help all the time. I muddle through. That's how I became the Branch Technical Liaison at work, along with being the Operations Specialist/Manager. LOL! Yeah, I'd say some of us have it, and some of us don't. But usually those that don't, have other wonderful powers they can use.
Yeah, I've been fielding some bizarre stuff with my grandmother. And I was out of work for almost 2 weeks due to bronchitis and some other related stuff - did a lot of sleeping! Anyway, I'm slowly creeping back out. How are you doing?
I can bake, I make cakes that everyone wants as well as curry and soups. but I'd like to have a bit of tech know how!
Wish I could eat some of your delicious fixins, Angie! Brenda, I am barely able to move right now. Had a car accident and broke my back. Lots of crazy shit to deal with, blah, blah. If I didn't have my Nook, I would be insane right now. I haven't slept in days, so I am a train wreck right now. I am determined to get someone to grab some beer for me tonight so I can drink myself into oblivion. It sucks to not be able to go anywhere. Sorry, other than that ... I wanted to recommend an amazing book to you. It is by Tim Curran--Dead Sea. Woah! That is one horriffic novel. I can't get it out of my head. Anyway, I am rambling now.
I think you're allowed to do yourself some rambling. I only knackered my arm and I was of my head on the pain meds! The Tim curran book is so good, I'm 75% in and I can say I'm freaked. I hope you can get some sleep in tonight Adam, at least a bit anyway.
Glad to hear you are liking Dead Sea, Angie. Some of the scenes in that novel had me jumping out of my skin! I can't remember the last time a book had that kind of effect on me. It stays good, too. I am waitimg til our group finishes to write my review.
The book sounds great - I've just added it to my wish list. I'm so sorry to hear about your back, Adam, but it sure could have been worse. It sounds like you can still move - thank God for that! I hope your recovery is very quick, and as relatively painless as possible.
Hoping to build a snowman on Saturday. It's been too cold recently. I think we'll have good pack snow Saturday as the temps rise a bit allowing some melting to occur and allow the snow to stick.
We've got no snow, it must be nice to have a white Christmas! Good luck in your snowman building today:-)
The news said 2day is the coldest day in 30 yrs.My boys asked if the they could go outside and I said "no its the coldest day since your dads been alive." My 5 yr old replies to this "When dad's dead can we go outside?" hahaha

Wow!
Kids say some crazy things and your poor hubby! How much longer do you think the weather will be bad for, I can't imagine the snow lasting so long. We've only had that happen once were I live but that was years ago!!
idk I think its gona get worse. its supposed to rain wednesday but the predicted high is 24 so it'll most likely be ice
That all sounds so awful, its still raining here but we don't flood where I live so I can't complain to much. But all your bad weather ,I'd hate it! I've been waiting for 5 days to get my boiler fixed, my water is so cold it hurts!! But they've promised it will be done tomorrow. I just want a shower.
O no I can't imagine going that long without a shower. I called my sister awhile ago and she was packing up the kids to go to her inlaws because her water pipes had busted under her trailer. I swear with all the water problems she has in the winter I will never live in a trlr.
I don't think I could either. I did downsize last year from a family sized house and large garden to an apartment, but I love it. Its a new build so its all nice and fresh but this with the boiler!! I'll be in the shower for about 3 hours tomorrow, lol.
I don't blame you!Grandpa Joe ticks me off. He lays in bed for 20 yrs while Charlies mom struggles to support them but give him a chance to go to the candy factory and he gets up and dances!
Yep, all that got me annoyed as well. Poor Charlie's mom and dad!! Are you reading the book or watching the film?
School was closed today, and it's closed tomorrow (Tues).Wind Chill has us at -40. brrrr.
Yes, I am a geek!
Favorite Star Trek series has been Deep Space 9.
The whole storyline with the Dominion was great.
Loved Garak! very sneaky Cardiassian "CIA"
Odo and his history, Quark and his Ferengi ways, LMAO!
Jadzia awesome! Worf, love him!
Sisko was NOT my favorite.
Janeway was my favorite Captain, not because she was female, but because she seem the most "real" or "personable" and her love of COFFEE!
Seven of Nine rocks.
TNG is good, but if you go back and watch the first few season, it's "painful" as the series went on it got much better...
Q...love that character.
Firefly
Farscape
Doctor Who
Stargate
and others...
Out of your list there I agree withFirefly
Farscape
Stargate
Buffy
Angel
X files
I've got all of the Star trek movies except the last Chris Pine one. That was just wrong in so many ways. Yes, I'm a big geek as well:-)
But, a wind chill of -40. I can't imagine that, the coldest I've lived in was -25 and that was when I lived in Berlin.
Angie wrote: "Yep, all that got me annoyed as well. Poor Charlie's mom and dad!! Are you reading the book or watching the film?"It was the movie, the original one. My youngest watches it about once a week lol
Its a good film and my kids got hooked on films the same way! When they were about 7&8 there was a film called My Best Friend is a Vampire and that was watched weekly along with cartoon tapes. Then with my grandson it was Pirates. I got so sick of that film:D
I don't know how or why this started but you have to read the reviews for this book. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1852250...
Brenda wrote: "At lunch, I told my husband that we really need to defrost the upright freezer soon. The other day I opened the door, and Admiral Byrd waved at me!"I just joined this group, but Admiral Byrd.... that's funny!!
Brenda wrote: "Eons ago – okay, about 15 years ago – my husband and I were shopping. We’d been married about 13 years at that time. I’ve always fought weight, and at that point in my life, it was winning. Jim pic..."OMG... that's funny!
