I'd prefer the weeklong ones, but I'm also good with any of those days for a 24-hour. Do you get points for pages in books not completed during the 24 hours or do you have to finish the book(s)?

You must finish books to be able to get the points.
Jacquelyn, i'm on my cell phone so I can't read the dates that you're thinking about for the read-a-Thon unless I click back to the very front page and scroll down which is what, probably hundreds or thousands of messages? LOL can you tell me the dates that you are considering for the it? Thanks!
Okay, for me the best date would probably be the 27th but I will be on vacation so I could probably do the other days as well but I have church on Sunday and then on that Monday I don't really know what's going on yet. LOL but as of right now the 27th looks best to me
That's what most people are saying as well. As of now, it seems like that will be the date but nothing is for sure yet.
Unfortunately I won't know my work schedule until really close to the dates but the 29th would probably work best because I usually work a lot on weekends. But if the other dates work better for everyone else I could probably fit in some reading. Have you considered maybe doing a 48 hour readathon or will it definitely be a 24?
I think it would definitely be a 24. 48 hour readathons are awkward to set up and I think people may be more motivated with half the time to read. Unfortunately, it seems that most people like the 27th more though so we shall see.
Alright. Most people are saying 27 so maybe we don't need a poll. I am starting to think 27th may be our official date.
:o) I know you do. I feel bad when it doesn't work for some people, but that's unavoidable. I've been in week long readathons where I only read one book because it was a bad time for me. LOL I say just read what you can during that time period, if possible to read at all.

I always feel bad when people can't participate but it's impossible to get a date that works for EVERYONE.
Alexa wrote: "Thinking of actually PARTICIPATING in a readathon :-D woop, 27th works for me as well!!"YAY!
Any day is fine with me. I'm off of school from Dec 11th all the way to Jan 20th and my work correlates to when school is in session, so whatever works for everyone else is fine with me!I just have to hope that my Aunt doesn't ask for me to babysit on that day...
Danni, that's great! :D Jessica, awesome. Crossing my fingers for you!
It looks like 27th is the date. I will be posting more information and maybe some challenges soon. ;)
I just stumbled upon this and im extremely frustrated. Im on a long-time-no-see holiday with family on all three days, plus one after. :(I really would want to do/try this.
Aw, I'm sorry you can't participate! We have one every couple months or so so just keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

Sorry, Dory, but I hope you enjoy your family event!
Yeah, Ill probably still do it, but do other stuff too. Sign me up, Ill still read :) At least i can try :)
Dory wrote: "Yeah, Ill probably still do it, but do other stuff too. Sign me up, Ill still read :) At least i can try :)"YAY! That's the spirit! :o) Even if you read one short book you'll still feel part of the action. Good luck! :o)
You too!Just an idea. What if there was a Read-a-thon where groups compete against one another? That could be cool.
Cant wait for the next one.
Dory, please officially sign up here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... with your time zone. Also, that's an interesting idea but would be pretty hard to organize. I'll see what I can do but if it does happen, it won't be for a few months.
Hmm, I would say maybe another month/month and a half? I am really busy with school right now but I think it would be better than. Maybe around spring break which is at the end of March.
Most likely either very late April or May. April is very busy for me so I will update you when I have a better idea on when I can host.
i would also enjoy a read a thon! i need help reaching my goal of 100 books by the end of the year! wednesdays would work best for me if possible
When you participate in read a thons do you have to read nonstop the entire time or can you stop when you ever you need too. This sounds like so much fun, but I just don't know if I can read nonstop. I read a long time every day, but I usually take breaks in between. Is it okay to take breaks during a read a thon?
Linsey, you can read as much or as little as you want to! There are no rules concerning breaks or anything. So whenever you feel like reading during the readathon, read. :)
Jessica wrote: "Linsey, you can read as much or as little as you want to! There are no rules concerning breaks or anything. So whenever you feel like reading during the readathon, read. :)"Thanks for responding to my questions. I can't wait to participate in my very first Read a thon!
Erin wrote: "Is there a limit on the number of pages the book has to be?"No, no page requirement
if you are going for points, only matters if it's a sequel and/or prequel!
Linsey wrote: "When you participate in read a thons do you have to read nonstop the entire time or can you stop when you ever you need too. This sounds like so much fun, but I just don't know if I can read nonsto..."Yay! I hope you can join us Linsey!
Yes, absolutely! Breaks are encouraged! I think you'll read more if you snack, take breaks, walk around, chat with us :D
