Cherene | 4 comments Heck yes, I'm ready for a challenge. I figure - since I can't find any rule saying I can't - that I'll combine this with the Goodreads challenge. Someone stop me if I'm breaking an unwritten etiquette rule. ;)

Started: July 1, 2013

Books completed: 3/26

A - The Age of Miracles
B - Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk
C - Canada
D - The Dog Stars
E - Escape from Camp 14: One Man's Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West
F - Flight Behavior
G - A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty
H - How to Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You
I - In the Shadow of the Banyan
J - January First: A Child's Descent into Madness and Her Father's Struggle to Save Her
K - Kiss the Dead
L - Legend
M - Motorcycle Man
N - Not Taco Bell Material
O - One Breath Away
P - Pushing the Limits
Q - Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
R - Running the Rift
S - Slammed
T - Telegraph Avenue
U - Under the Never Sky
V - The Void
W - Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops
X - Xenocide
Y - Year Zero
Z - Zombie Fallout

Er, do these have to be read in order? if so, I might need to fix this. lol

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I have some of the books from GDCA challenge incorporated into A-Z challenge as well :), I don't think there are any specific rules on that, to be honest I think it is totally your call whether make more or less difficult. My challenge is as simple as possible, books by titles, read without any specific order :)

You have some interesting books on your list here, I may use for recommendations :)

Have a great reading time :)

Sarah | 1467 comments I just bought The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker and The Dog Stars by Peter Heller :)

I tried to diversify as much as possible. lol My dream is to write young adult fiction - once I actually get the self-confidence to finish a novel, but, when I read, if I stick to one genre I get bored easy. Haha.

Sarah, definitely let me know how they go for you. I hate both those covers. So, I'm hoping the stories are better than their outsides.

Sarah | 1467 comments Well I have heard really good things about Age of Miracles. I really want to read both of them but they are my favorite genre.

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I keep my fingers crossed for your success with the novel. I have such a dream myself, although not YA.

I feel the same about diversifing my reads, and I included various genres into my A-Z challenge :)

Sarah | 1467 comments I didn't realize you both are writers. I second great success to both of u. My daughter is three but she got this fortune thing for my baby shower that predicted she will grow up to be a romance novelist. Hee hee

message 8: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments To say I'm a writer is an overstatement, I aspire to that name :), but thanks Sarah, I hope one day I can call myself that and truthfully :)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments And all the best to your daughter, looking at Daniell Steel for instance, it is not such a bad job to do :)

Welcome to the challenge Cherene! Some book clubs are more strict with this challenge so that things can not overlap, but we set it up so that everyone can make it as difficult or easy as they want. Feel free to use books from other buddy reads, BOTM reads, etc for this challenge. :)

Good luck with getting your YA book published. You should definitely give a shot and put yourself out there. (You too Anima!!)

Cherene | 4 comments I had an art professor once that swore the best way to become an artist was to always announce yourself as one.

Sounds good! I am taking on less reviews now because of the overwhelming amount I had, so hopefully I can get more time to read my TBR list - it's over a 1000 by now, I think. Yikes!

ElvenRaven | 244 comments Hi Cherene, we're doing a buddy read for Legend, which is your L book, starting on July 25th. I'll leave the link to the thread here, hopefully you can join us :)
