I'm reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. No doubt I should have read it in German, but that would be rather laborious. A shame, as the book, so far, is fun.
I'm reading The Greengage Summer because I've liked some of Rumer Godden's juveniles. This one's a little odd, though. Reminds me a bit of the ones by Bill and Vera Cleaver - written in a more adult style, with mature ideas, absolutely no didactism, almost no humor. Have any of you read it? The Greengage Summer
Paula wrote: "I finished The Necromancer and continue to read The Golden Compass."The The Golden Compass is a wonderful book. I hope you enjoy reading it and the two following books.
Alan, I think the book is well written and the story is good. I just need more free time to read it. But then again, so what if it takes me months to read 'The Golden Compass'? I need to relax and enjoy the story and not worry about zipping through it. I think that I will continue with the series.
Yes it's definitely worth the time it takes. I really enjoyed the series.I'm reading a chick book, not YA. Just needed to clear my head with something fluffy.
Clear your head with something fluffy? For some reason that sounded funny to me (I was imagaining a head full of fluffy cotton balls, and you know the phrase "head full of cotton" - talking about a fuzzy head??)Probably just me - I have a weird sense of humor - but it made me laugh, so thanks!! :D
It made me smile too Arya. I had the same imagery. :DIt's true by the way, Princess Diaries was a sharp left turn from Dracula! haha, I think I would have been better off with Dracula. Princess Diaries was cute, but it turned out to not be what I was in the mood for. Maybe there are better books by Cabot? I liked the movie a little better actually.
Now I'm reading Love in the Asylum: A Novel, not at all YA, but I find myself in the mood for a more mature subject after Diaries.
LOL, poor choice of words I suppose. Probably should have said I'm clearing my head with a book that doesn't require concentration!
Just finished Catching Fire, now I am in the process of reading Mockingjay. I kind of don't want these books to end, Collins is a wonderful writer, really makes you feel like you are there or even am Katniss.
Katrina wrote: "Just finished Catching Fire, now I am in the process of reading Mockingjay. Not that you'll be happy when it does...
Paula wrote: "I finished The Necromancer and continue to read The Golden Compass."The Golden Compass is a great book. It is one of my favorite books. And the other two books are great as well.
I just finished The Adoration of Jenna Fox and totally loved it. Is there a thread around here for it?I'm getting ready to start a Jennifer Crusie book. Not YA but a fast read.

Sequel to Jenna Fox comes out in Fall 2010. Can't wait.

Rot & Ruin? Good in terms of the written language itself, I love zombies, but I thought the book was preachy and extremely predictable.
I'm midway through The Maze Runner, so far it is wildly entertaining, looking forward to finishing it and moving onto The Scorch Trials
Finished Very Merry Christmas Tales. It was a nice book with cute stories and a few stand out stories that I thought were wonderful. Now I am starting The Double Life of Pocahontas by Jean Fritz.
There's a sequel to Jenna Fox? How is that gonna go? Can't see how they would continue the story. Although I did say there was a bit of a surprise with Allys. What's the sequel called?
Amy wrote: "There's a sequel to Jenna Fox? How is that gonna go? Can't see how they would continue the story. Although I did say there was a bit of a surprise with Allys. What's the sequel called?"It is really more of a companion novel and it is called the Fox Inheritance. It will be out around Sept 2011. I am hoping to learn more about it in a few weeks at Mid-Winter ALA. I was invited to a publisher's event/sneak peek for it.
Finished The Exiled Queen and Vampire Academy - now moving on (back to) The Eye of the World. Hopefully I will finish it this time!
AngelaSunshine wrote: "What'd ya think of Rot & Ruin?"I really liked it. I didn't feel it was about Zombies at all, but that turning point in a teen's life where you take that step to being an adult. I loved how Benny's character developed how everything he thought he knew as fact suddenly gets turned upside down and he sees things different.
Finished The Double Life of Pocahontas. I thought it was a very good book. now I'm reading Elantra: Song of Tears, Lady of the Dawn by Christine E. Schulze.
I am reading Everlost well at least I should be but have been distracted by the Sanctuary Marathon on SyFy.
I just finished Entice by Carrie Jones, the third book in her series. It was good and I enjoyed it, but I was hoping the series would be wrapped up in this one. I'm guessing not now. :(
I started Unwind by Neil Shusterman this morning and I'm halfway through. I cannot put this book down. Loving it!
I'm still listening to Nightshade. This is such a long book! I'm not loving it, but am still planning to finish it since I've already invested 6 hours! Also, am just starting Holes, which has been on my shelf forever.
Amy wrote: "I started Unwind by Neil Shusterman this morning and I'm halfway through. I cannot put this book down. Loving it!"It's such a great book! One of my all time favorites.

Angela - I know a lot of people who loved Nightshade but read it. I wonder if it would be faster if read? Sometimes the audio for me takes too long.

Agreed. The book has 454 pages, but it's 12 hours of audio. Ugh!
I was listening to Fallen on audio and it bugged me to no end. Didn't like the voice of the person reading it. So sometimes audio isn't always faster.
Amy wrote: "I started Unwind by Neil Shusterman this morning and I'm halfway through. I cannot put this book down. Loving it!"I recently read this book and loved it. I can't believe that parents would sign their kids away like that. And storking babies? Wow!
I know right? I just finished it (like ten minutes ago) and now I'm dying to read book two. This was such a cool (and maybe cruel) concept. But I"m happy with the ending though.
Finished reading Smilelast night. That was a fun read which is about what I could handle at the moment.
