What do you think? I admit...I read the initial chapter/prologue and then skipped to chapter 11 read to the end and then went back and r..."
Seriously? Well I'm only on page 8, so will give it a go, and if that fails, will do exactly what you did!

I've seen so many reviews where the readers were utterly confused by the first part. I shall attempt!:-)

I'm on page 81 and it's difficult to really get into it so far. I think it's the way it's being narrated.

:(
Oh well . . . I wrote A LOT today so I know I can catch up!!

Do you know if there is already a group or a forum about the subject on Goodreads, Arya?

But I'm sure we could have more than one if you want to go ahead and start it!! :D

Here's the group, Arya.

Hmm. I have like 4 of his books on my shelf, one of them is Bruiser. I will have to get to it soon to see if I think it's difficult too!

Sorry to take so long to reply - busy week at the library.
First thing to bear in mind it that this community centre manager once remarked that libraries remind her of cemetaries, she thinks being quiet is just too creepy!!
For her reading is a trivial hobby strictly for free-time not for when you are being paid (minimum-wage) to do 'real' work.
edited to add: I won't hi-jack the thread with my opinions on attitudes to the library but if I get round to writing a blog post I will link it.

The plot halfway through the first book appears to be a massive trainwreck & a headache. lol. But I'm moving through it quickly enough. I've read some reviews for them all and they seem to be at 50/50 as far as good & bad go. Only time will tell!
It's awfully remniscent of Gossip Girl, however. lol. It's hard enough to keep straight who's interested in who!

Also just started the audiobook version of Flash Burnout

Nightshade
by Andrea Cremer
Took me a couple chapters to get me really involved with it, but now I don't want to put it down.

I didn't care for it. But I didn't care for The Perks of Being a Wallflower which most people really liked either. They felt similar to me. I didn't feel any connection.

I'm now reading Wedding Girl which isn't YA but one I've been wanting to read.

No Tess doesn't hurt my feelings either. I felt their relationship was so shallow and unbelievable. My favorite characters were Maria and Michael until the last season, where I actually started to dislike Maria and her deviation into stardom. That season my favorite characters were Kyle and Isabel. I loved his dry wit!

Isabel was always great!! I missed Alex so much in season three, but her husband was sort of cool too . . . though their relationship seemed sort of rushed.

I loved Roswell, too. My husband did raise an eyebrow. First Buffy then Roswell - why is a woman in her 30s addicted to a drama about High School kids? (He's got used to it now :0)
Couple-wise I thought Michael and Maria were most interesting but my favourite female character was Isabel. And I missed Alex so much. I also though Sheriff Valenti was pretty sweet, trying to help them out all the time.

Max and Liz, on again off again Oy drove me nutty, but I liked how they dealt with her reaction to his cheating.
Isabel was really awesome throughout. I loved the episodes where she got to mess around with her character, like the New York versions and the old school TV show. Not hard to see why she broke out into bigger things. Her performances and Maria's I think really stood out in versatility.
Same here Esther! Buffy is my all time favorite! My husbands been drug into it though. He's addicted to Joss Whedon mostly because of Firefly.

I can't believe I got so much flack over Buffy and now everyone is into YA!
My Hubby never warmed to Buffy but he did like Angel. On Doll's House he was so-so - he thinks Eliza Dushku is kick-ass - but there's not much enthusiam for Firefly.
I'm the Space fiend in this house, he prefers Horror.

Started reading Life As We Knew It

Kathy what did you think of the Replacement?
I was disappointed in it.

I hate how Maria's mom was sort of just moved off the canvas. She was quirky. My all time most hated Roswell ep was that End of the World one when future Max came back and Liz had to pretend to have slept with Kyle. So sad.

Haha at this rate I definitely need to get into the book series. This whole discussion has made me want more Roswell!

The main character, Rhis, seemed a bit weak to me at times but I enjoyed the supporting cast even though the plot was a bit too apparent. The ending however, threw in a tiny twist that made it all the more bearable. All in all, lovely book and would definitely read it again.

Did anyone every have the crisis like me where they thought that maybe Max didn't really come back from the future at all and the whole thing was just Tess messing with Liz's head so she could get Max!!
I thought of that one time and it just hasn't let me alone. What if Liz went through all of that for NOTHING!!
Anyway . . . I thought Maria was GREAT, but you're right, Isabel was THE BEST. I love the Christmas Nazi one!!

I miss Alez *sobs*. He was SO sweet, and he was about to catch Isabel I just know it . . .
I was really sad that Tess and Kyle didn't get together, I think that would have solved the whole "she gets so annoyed she leaves" thing that future Max was worried about, but noooo, let's torture the characters some more!
I wonder if there is some deeper meaning to the fact that we who liked Roswell also enjoyed Buffy and Angel? Don't know what it could be but . . . seems sort of interesting to me!!

I am reading Warbreaker (not YA)and let me just say it is one of the best books I have read in a long time! Maybe it is because I am new to the whole "epic fantasy" genre, but I am eating this up!

Kathy what did you t..."
I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it was a very original story in the field of quickly growing fantasy for young adults/teens. I think Maggie Stiefvater's strong recommendation of it influenced me, too.

I think for me Buffy, Angel, Roswell, Firefly, etc. have what I love in fiction most, an unlikely combination of individuals who are brought together to work towards, or keep secret, a common interest. Where no one individual is the hero, all have strengths that keep them from going belly up or losing hope.
On another note, I'm still reading Tam Lin, which is long, but I'm nearly done. It's been really good but while the first half of the book was the first year of college for Janet the main character, the second year has taken half that and I still feel like the plot has only been ever so briefly brushed against. There's only a quarter left and I'm feeling it now coming on like a stampede's rush. Yet the writing is excellent and I'm not sure that the slow lead up hasn't made the plot's eventual arrival all the more exciting. There can certainly be no argument that the characters aren't well known or understood.

Just started 13 Little Blue Envelopes tonight and I'm really enjoying it. It's a fast easy read. Plus it reminds me of my trip to London when I was in college.

Wow I cannot believe that someone else had the same thoughts about Future Max - that's great . . . well actually really sad (I wish I could un-think that idea) but still cool!!
I liked Angel better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer as far as plot and stuff. . . but then I started Buffy in the third season and the went right to Angel season one so I had perspective, whereas for Buffy I didn't really know what was going on.
I have only seen the third season and in it I didn't really like Spike AT ALL. A lot of people seem to like him . . . guess I will have to start Buffy up again!
Still reading Warbreaker - I am going to be SO SAD when it is over, it is SOOOOO good!
