I've had this in my bookshelf for a while and for some reason, I keep putting it off. Maybe I should move it up the TBR pile just a bit.

I loved BAD GIRLS DON'T DIE. It was really well done. I really liked the characters and it was just scary enough. And I really liked how the book ended. I would move it up.

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I'm reading Destiny's Path! So good. . .though not as good as the first one so far!

message 1754: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I've just started Leaving Jetty Road and Vacations from Hell. Jetty Road is interesting because it's Australian so the lingo is so different!

message 1755: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I am listening to The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. The main character is 11 years old, so I'm thinking it's a YA book of sorts. I'm only 10 minutes into the audiobook.

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments I am currently reading BIG NATE - kind of like The Diary of a Wimpy Reader. Definitely for the reluctant 10 year old reader.

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments Wow! It has been quiet here lately. I have been reading several books recently. Finished Green Angel by Alice Hoffman which I loved. Read an ARC of Thirteen to Life by Shannon Delany which was excellent - book will be out in June. And just finished The Miles Between by Mary Pearson which was so wonderful. If you haven't read anything by Mary Pearson I would highly recommend her. I love her writing.

I'm not sure, Paula, if Bradley intended to write a YA book or not, but I've read this one and the next one, The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag, and I don't think an age group can be assigned to these wonderful novels. I actually think that the writing is somewhat more sophisticated than young readers can relate to, and that adults will absorb it more readily. Having said that, my 9-year-old granddaughter saw this book on my shelf and started reading it and begged to take it home, which, of course, I let her. I think she might have a bit of a problem with some of the British terms, but I went over a few with her before she took the book home. I need to follow up and see if she's still reading it. I really think anyone from middle school on will love this story. Enjoy it, Paula.

message 1759: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments I'm 3/4 the way through An Unpardonable Crime: A Novel (The American Boy in the UK) by Andrew Taylor and really enjoying it. The American boy is a young Edgar Allan Poe.

message 1760: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm reading Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Looking forward to reading the thread about the book after I finish it. It's interesting in a morbid sort of way.

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments I am reading The Charmed Life (The Chronicles of Chrestomanci Vol. 1) by Diana Wynn Jones.

I love that book :) How do you like it so far?

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments Actually not sure about it yet. I like Cat but not sure about Gwendolyn. I'll let you know as I get further into it.

message 1764: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I am reading Enchanted Glass. I'm only on page 20.

message 1765: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Just started Vampire Academy and hope to finish today. Thinking about rereading Gemma Doyle Trilogy... we'll see.

message 1766: by Bhumi (new)

Bhumi | 274 comments Natalee, I love the Vampire Academy series so much! I hope you enjoy the first book in the series.

message 1767: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I'm reading The Face on the Milk Carton. Interesting mystery/self-discovery!

Thanks, Bhumi! So far, so good! I am liking Rose... she is a cool character.

message 1769: by Amy (new)

Amy Have you seen the face on the milk carton movie? It's an older one?

I'm hoping to start the vampire academy series so it's good to hear positive things about it.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments Arya wrote: "I'm reading The Face on the Milk Carton. Interesting mystery/self-discovery!"

Arya, when my daughter was much younger (she's 26 now), we enjoyed that series together. I think there are at least 4 in the series.

message 1771: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments I've just started The Hand That First Held Mine by Maggie O'Farrell. I am hoping to fit in Going Bovine fairly soon.

Good luck with GOING BOVINE. I really had a hard time with that book. I think you either love it or dislike it.

I am really enjoying it! It is so suspenseful and mysterious! I can't wait to figure out who her parents really are!!

message 1774: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Me, too, Alyson. I love Libba Bray and was very excited for Going Bovine buuuuuut was very disappointed. I couldn't even finish it. But, like you said, either you love it or you hate it. I've seen some really positive feedback but it just wasn't for me.

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments Natalee - I agreed. I love Libba's other work but this didn't work for me. I don't want to write in spoilers but I could see a couple of changes to the book that would have made it much stronger. Oh well...but in terms of books with road trips and a better lesson I would recommend THE MILES BETWEEN by Mary E. Pearson.

message 1777: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Oooh Eden - that is such a GOOD book - though definitely NOT my favorite in the series, I much prefer Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince to be honest. But all of the Harry Potter books are worth a read!

message 1778: by Bess (new)

Bess (Neli) | 7 comments Reading Maria Snyder's Storm Glass series at the moment - pretty interesting so far, I wasn't all that fussed about Poison Study (ducks now) will post what I think when done!

I didn't really care for Poison Study either for some reason. I feel like I'm the only one!

message 1780: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments I am not reading a YA yet but I just finished Olive Kitteridge and am now reading The Help

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments I am reading two middle grade books. Al Capone Shines My Shoes by Geniffer Choldenko and Albert Einstein by Kathleen Krull.

message 1782: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm reading Wondrous Strange right now. Very odd so far.

message 1783: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished listening to Once Dead, Twice Shy and really enjoyed it. I was so happy that the once dead part of the title didn't mean teenager vampire. Kim Harrison created an unusual situation for Madison Avery. The universe was filled with angel like beings and rippers. The philosophy of the rippers was new to me and not illogical. I'm waiting for the audio download on book two.

I am still reading Enchanted Glass.

message 1784: by Roshini (new)

Roshini I've just started on Everwild by Neal Shusterman. Liked the first one so much I had to start reading the sequel right away. I'm pretty sure I'll be kicking myself at the end of it because the last book isn't out yet!

I didn't like Poison Study either. . .let us know how Storm Glass compares (once you finish it!) :D

I am reading The Reformed Vampire Support Group. It is pretty cute! The vampires are SOOO not . . . . vampiric.

message 1786: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (angelashly) | 23 comments I just started Hex Hall from Rachel Hawkins. I have only read about 10 pages though.

message 1787: by Amy (new)

Amy I just started reading Impossible by Nancy Werlin today.

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments Amy - Let me know how you like it. Someone gave it to me but I haven't read it yet.

Ashley - What do you think of Hex hall. It is on my to read list.

message 1789: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) I'm working my way through Pride & Prejudice, and of course, I'm absolutely loving it :)

message 1790: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm on page four and so far it's reading pretty easy!

message 1791: by Alisha Marie (new)

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) I'm reading I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith and am loving it so far! I definitely should've picked this up sooner.

It is really good so far and I'm not sure which is my favorite since I haven't read all of the books yet. But, I've really enjoyed all of them so far so I don't know if I'll be able to pick a favorite.

message 1793: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments @ Eden - Well when you finish all of them I bet you will have a favorite (probably one of the last ones!)

I just finished Hush, Hush . . . still trying to work out my feelings on the book. Now I am reading Whatever Happened to Janie?. I am excited to know that happened to Janie!!

Kellyflower | 136 comments Alisha wrote: "I'm reading I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith and am loving it so far! I definitely should've picked this up sooner."

I started off really liking the book, but then because of decisions the characters made I felt aggravated by the end.

Kellyflower | 136 comments Amy wrote: "I'm reading Wondrous Strange right now. Very odd so far."

I gave it 2 stars, but if I could I'd do 2 1/2.
I've read a lot of similar books and this one didn't keep me as interested as the others.

I'm reading The Line The Line (Line #1) by Teri Hall

I just finished it today and I do agree with you that some of the things the character did were aggravating but then I thought she's a teenager and teenagers do aggravating things and let their feelings guide the choices they make rather than logic, so I felt that it made Cassandra more real. I loved the book and thought it was amazing. It definitely went into my favorites.

message 1797: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Started The House of the Scorpion last night. Crazy concept. Probably one of the most unique dystopian books...

Alyson (Kid Lit Frenzy) (alybee930) | 446 comments Just finished reading The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet. It was really a fun middle grade book.

Amy I loved Hush Hush. It was a little odd in places but I love the idea of angels so it was a great read for me.

Off topic question..........how you do quote on here? I can't seem to figure it out (which is making me feel pretty dumb). LOL.
