I'd love to read it with you, Fiona. The only problem might be that my daughter asked me what book I might want for Christmas, and I told her Specials and Extras, since I knew I wanted to read a couple of books before getting back to the series. I'm afraid she's gotten me the book, and I'll have to wait until Christmas to read it now. Is that too long of a wait for you?

Ha! How have I not heard of this!?!
I just finished The 19th Wife A Novel and am debating what to read next. I need to read Storm Front for my book club, but Leviathan is calling my name...

Mine are both library books Kathy, but I can wait if necessary. Just that I am gonna be readin Specials with a couple of others. Can you not ask your daughter if you could read this 1 as I am getting the other book on saturday and I can wait til after christmas to read it as its a kind of spin off to the UGLIES series x

I would say 8/10 again for me.

I'll check with her to see if she's bought it or not yet.

Ok Kathy. We are readin it midweek I think hon x

Well, she hadn't bought it yet, so I'm going to try and be ready to read it with you. Next week, right? Are you reading it with people on a certain site or what?

Donna off Everyone's Choice, a friend of mine as well. I am ITCHING to read it lol. But will try and hold off til next week, as I am looking forward to readin it with other people x

But I am getting Study over the Holidays (Hannukah) so not sure when I'll get that one
I already have Hands and Teeth.

Next book is probably going to be The Time Traveler's Wife, as it's due at the library on Tuesday...

I love Alcott! An Old-Fashioned Girl and Little Men are my favorites, but I always loved 8 Cousins, too.

Definitely more Middle School for sure.

Oh wow. I haven't ever had an interest in it before but this was a whim desire for me. Why is it you didn't like it?

Hush, Hush is one of those books where you wish you could read faster because you want to know what happens, but at the same time you don't want the book to ever end!

I guess I could understand how there may be a disconnect being a male reader. Patch is so fascinating because he is struggling with human desires at the same time as wanting to fulfill his duties.

I read the book and I didn't like it very much. I kind of wished I didn't buy it. I borrowed the 2nd book from my niece and it was a little better. But she also told me Inkheart (the movie) was WAAAY better than the book. But I agree with Misty, you should read whatever book you want, too. This series just wasn't my cup of tea.

My nephew started my daughter reading the series when she was like 11 and she was scared by Inkheart. And it just never interested me until I saw the movie. And I want to understand the story of the characters a little more. I am kind of holding off the book, but I have it here if I want to read it. Right now I have an ARC called Hadrian Memorandum that I am trudging through.

Possibly Kellee. There are plenty of fascinating characters like Sam in Shiver and I've read many although it will be less in future as romance seems to have taken this genre over. Patch has no redeeming qualities at all. The guy is a creep. Not fascinating or slightly dangerous or any of those other things that would work. He's everything a girl should be running from 100 miles an hour in the opposite direction. I have been a little shocked at the amount of girls in love with him. Elliot is also a creep. That does worry me slightly. The two main male characters being such dreadful examples. Mind you I also thought the two main females weren't great characters either.

Jess, hope you like it. It's one of my all time faves!
I FINALLY started Shiver! And I FINALLY got time to read and participate on GR again. Holidays were crazy busy! Missed you!

Me, too! Those were the best books I read in 2009. I loved them! I saw an advertisement at B&N for the third book yesterday and got excited. But then I saw the bottom... "Coming in August 2010!". That's too far!!

I agree. These were two of the best books I read in 2009. 2009 was a great reading year for me, and these two books helped make it so. August does seem so far away.
