I want to read this one, too. I love the title.

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments The YA book I'm currently reading is School of Fear 1 by Gitty Daneshvari. I've only read a few pages of The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart, and that was some time ago, but this book seems to have the same "feel" to it.

message 1304: by K. A. (new)

K. A. Schloegel I am re-reading the last Wheel of Time hardcover in preparation for the next upcoming book. I know it drags and drags ...

But I still can't wait!

David (dcgolden) I like both of the Mysterious Benedict Society books...

message 1307: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments Kathy, School of Fear is pretty cute so far. I'm also looking forward to reading the Mysterious Benedict Society books.

David (dcgolden) Finished Fire liked it better than Graceling so super physced for Bitterblue!

Also I really need to get something to read...

message 1309: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought that I heard that she is not writing Bitterblue after all...anyone know?

message 1310: by David (new)

David (dcgolden) No it just moved publishers...

Anyways I think I'm going for the starcatchers re-read as my current book...

Read Leviathan LOVED IT! So good but as a multi-book series I was prepared for it to leave me a lot of details I wanted to know and it delivered. The romance was SLOW.

________________________________________________________

From Kristin Cashore's blog:

"Book 3, tentatively titled Bitterblue and currently in progress, is a companion book to both Graceling and Fire and takes place in the seven kingdoms six years after Graceling. As you may have gathered, the protagonist is Bitterblue. Yes, Katsa, Po, and others from Graceling whom I'm not yet willing to name do appear in the book. :o) I don't know yet when it'll be coming out. That's all I can say about it at this point.

EDIT 3/9/09: If you notice on Amazon that Bitterblue is cancelled, don't worry! The Harcourt edition is cancelled, but only because the book has moved to Penguin. Once Bitterblue is written, it'll be published by the Penguin imprint Dial Books for Young Readers."

message 1314: by Roshini (new)

Roshini I finally finished Things Not Seen. It took me way longer than I thought it would, though I must say I did quite like it.

You just seem to be a wealth of information! ;)

message 1324: by David (new)

David (dcgolden) LOL, anyways in the 50's of my Starcatcher re-read so odd to read these characters as they're not yet developed and don't even know eachother!

message 1325: by [deleted user] (new)

Didn't you just get through reading this series? :) I was just wondering why you were re reading it again so soon after...just being nosy I guess.

message 1326: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I am reading (actually listening to) Me, the Missing, and the Dead which so far is a quite interesting book. Nothing like I've ever read before. Hopefully the ending is better than everyone says...

No I read book 4 and so decided to go re-read the first three, which I truly should have done before I read the fourth book!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I'm just started Garden Spells... Looks like it's not YA, but whatever. It's shelved as "magical realism" which makes me nervous. My first attempt at the genre didn't go very well... I finally just put down Like Water for Chocolate as it was SERIOUSLY depressing me...

Sara, I absolutely loved Garden Spells! It's seriously one of the best books I've read this year and it went on my all-time favorites list. I really hope you enjoy it.

JG (Introverted Reader) I think you'll like it, Sara. Have you seen the movie Practical Magic? If you liked it, you'll like this book. It was impossible for me not to compare the two. I really enjoyed the book.

message 1331: by Sara ♥ (last edited Nov 25, 2009 07:58AM) (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments That's the thing, though.... I DIDN'T like Practical Magic (not that I remember much about it). I don't like witches/witchcraft. They totally freak me out. I can't even watch Hocus Pocus without getting the heebie-jeebies. I still hold my breath while passing cemeteries. *shudders*

BUT, this book isn't about witches/witchcraft, just... natural magic (where "natural" means "from nature"). It's a subtle difference, but in my mind, it's like day and night (good vs evil?). Perhaps it's the lack of heavy mascara and black clothing and spells and cauldrons...?

I'm REALLY REALLY enjoying this book. If I wasn't supposed to be packing (the hubby wants to leave in about an hour and a half for his parents' house for Thanksgiving), I'd be reading it!! (Not that I'm doing much packing right now...) :)

I absolutely loved the Practical Magic film, but didn't really like the book. I also thought that Garden Spells and Practical Magic were extremely similar and Garden Spells was what I hoped the book would be like, alas, it wasn't...

I agree completely, Alisha.

I just found out that Sarah Addison Allen is going to be doing a signing near me soon. Yay! Too bad I don't actually own either of her books...

I don't think it was as creepy as the first and I think the first was a bit better, but this one was still pretty good.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ รђ๏รђคภคђ (shoey924) | 17 comments I'm at the tail end of the The Van Alen Legacy and just begun listening to The City of Ember. I am going to begin Tempted probably today as soon as I finish up with Van Alen Legacy.
I've sped right through it so as soon as I get a chance to sit for a decent space of time, it'll be done. It's really hard to put down! The city of ember I still need some time to get into.

Misty, have you read An Abundance of Katherines by Green. Like you, I loved Looking for Alaska, but I loved An Abundance of Katherines even more. I want to read Green's latest, Paper Towns, in December.

message 1343: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments Looking for Alaska was the first book by Green that I've read. I intend to read more, but since I owned that one and had heard great thigns, I figured I'd start there. My friend Jenn said she liked Abundance more, too.

JG (Introverted Reader) I just finished Poison Study and LOVED it! I can't believe it's been buried in my tbr for a few months! I've already asked for Magic Study for Christmas.

message 1347: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1505 comments That's such a great series. I got to hang out with Maria for the weekend a few weeks ago. It was really nice picking her brain about the books and the characters (we mostly talked about the characters from the Glass series, though Valek certainly made an appearance or two...;p). You might as well ask for Fire Study, too, because you're going to fly through MS and want to keep on going...Did you end up entering to win the signed copy of Sea Glass? I can't recall.

JG (Introverted Reader) I didn't because I hadn't read any of the books yet. I may go change that if it's not too late.

message 1349: by Roshini (new)

Roshini I just started Cracked Up To Be; saw a lot of positive reviews, so thought I'd give it a shot. Has anyone here read it?
I read Such A Pretty Girl over the weekend, it was an easy read about a heavy topic, if that makes sense?

Roshini Kristen wrote: "Long time no see guys. I just finished Fallen and I'm about 100 or so pages into The Dark Divine."

How was Fallen? It's on my to-read list with about 200 others I think.
