I just got back from HP6. I really enjoyed it, as I have all the HP movies. My only gripe is that they left out some parts which my son and I thought were important or wanted to see. I won't say what now, so I won't spoil the movie. The previews for Where the Wild Things Are was fantastic. I can't wait for it to come out, I think in October. The Percy preview was very short, like you said Allison, just him in the elevator.

I'm reading Inkspellfor the challenge. I read Inkheartearlier this week, but sadly I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. So I'm hoping I can quickly get through Inkspell (or maybe it'll surprise me and be worth it this time)

Have you read The Hero and the Crown? I loved it.
Finally finished the Twilight series yesterday. I'm satisfied with the way that the series ended. Now, I'm going to start The BFG (while I'm also reading The Secret Life of Bees).
I just finshed Haunted Waters and it was really good, I liked it a lot. Now I've started reading The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.

Jess, the BFG and The Secret Life of Bees are two of my favorite books. If this is your first time reading them, you're in for a treat.

"I am reading Sunshine right now and I am hooked. I have my pet peeves about McKinley's habits on occasion, but the woman can suck you in. READ IT!
well I finished Time Traveler's Wife this very minute...so since both you and April say McKinley...Sunshine it is!
ooo and seeing a blurb on the cover from Gaiman just made me even more excited to get into it! I always assume that whatever he likes will just be "cool" like his stuff.
I finished Bewitching Season and started The Boy From the Basement. It's depressing. I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'll need a happy book next!
I just started reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn for my final challenge task. This looks like it's going to be a favorite!
I finished all my library books so I picked up Hunger Games again. I love it! It's not something I would've picked on my own. It's really my daughter's book but I worked it into the challenge. I'm glad I did. I can't put it down! It's so original.
Finished Sunshine, back to The Mysterious Benedict Society and Little Women. I am determined I am going to finish that this weekend. It's just that I've already read it, and I have so many others that I haven't...

"I read Sunshine this past winter and really liked it. I haven't read the other choice yet...
I ended up reading Sunshine first...then Evermore yesterday. Sunshine was great and Evermore was just okay.
Allison, you need to read the Blue Sword now. It's so great and definately the best book I've read by McKinley so far. I think you will really like the main character.Oh and on-topic, I am currently reading The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King which is considered by some to be his one Y.A. book. It's very engaging so far.

I will soon! Your 5 star review made me bump it up my TBR...and you need to read Hero and Crown...I think they take place in the same country, and I really enjoyed that one.

To my understanding, Hero and the Crown is a prequel of sorts to the Blue Sword. But I could be wrong. I intend to read TBS sometime before summers through, while TH/TC is still fresh(ish) in my mind.
I could have a real McKinley marathon...I have Blue Sword, Deerskin, and Outlaws of Sherwood all TBR.
The Hero and the Crown is a prequel. I guess it goes more in depth on Lady Aerin's background. Misty, you really should read TBS asap, the story is wonderful and it really does transport you to another world, plus the characters are really likeable.
It's on my post challenge list. I'm thinking Deerskin, too, Allison. And Outlaws of Sherwood, you say? We could have our own little challenge.
I finished Evermore and am continuing to listen to A Great and Terrible Beauty and re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
I love the cover for Witch Child, it makes me want to read it. Let me know if it lives up to its cover.
I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty.
I am going to continue reading Eldest and re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone & Twilight.

Still working my way through The Remarkable Life and Times of Eliza Jane and Evermore. However, my husband left me a bag of goodies before he ran off on a 2-day fishing trip and it included Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! I keep thinking about it and can't wait to start it. Must focus on Eliza Jane. *chants "focus, focus, focus"*
I'm mixing a YA and an adult book: Paper Towns and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Both are excellent, by the way!
Beth wrote: "I'm mixing a YA and an adult book: Paper Towns and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Both are excellent, by the way!"Oh, I have been wanting to read Wind Up Bird for I can't tell you how long. But I know it's something I'm going to want to devote some time to and not just fly through, and I just haven't had that kind of time. I really just need to shove some things aside and go for it. I love Murakami. Have you ever read any David Mitchell? Very similar, equally amazing.
Though I've been procrastinating on finishing The Name of this Book Is Secret (and I don't know why because it's fun!), I have been absolutely devouring comics recently. Well, I guess I should say graphic novel, because I'm too cheap to buy issues, especially back issues. I forgot how much I love this stuff!Eden, I bought Dealing with Dragons for one of my students to read last year -- she went on to devour the whole series!
Hi Misty, Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is great so far. I haven't read any David Mitchell but I'll look him up. Thanks for the info.
Beth wrote: "I'm mixing a YA and an adult book: Paper Towns and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Both are excellent, by the way!"Beth, I have Paper Towns waiting to be read as my next YA book. I have loved the other John Green books, so I'm really looking forward to this one. Let us know how you like it.
Natalee wrote: "Still working my way through The Remarkable Life and Times of Eliza Jane and Evermore. Beth wrote: "Hi Misty, Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is great so far. I haven't read any David Mitchell but I'll look him up. Thanks for the info."Cloud Atlas is one of the best, coolest books I've ever read, and Number 9 Dream is just so enjoyable. And Mitchell lives in Japan, and writes about it, so that furthers the Murakami-ness. And they both have that sort of global, experimental style.
Jennifer, have you watched King of California? It's like taking the theme of Wild Roses, but then heading in a different direction with it.
Just re-read Twilight. I am going to continue reading Eldest and re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Fiona wrote: "By Mitchell - I have Black Swan Green by him. Have you read that Misty? Cloud Atlas makes me feel weird, it doesn't appeal but I still keep looking at it so maybe I should..."I've read everything by him, and have Black Swan Green as well. I think BSG is his most accessible, but CA is his greatest. It is weird. It is a combination of a lot of stories and styles, and how he was able to pull them all off I don't know. It will frustrate some people (though I don't want to give away why,) but there is a purpose, and when it all comes together, it kinda leaves you breathless. I think there's something in it for everyone, but you have to stick with it to get the full effect. It is my favorite book by a modern author. No joke.
If you like Murakami, Mitchell is Murakami Lite. A little less esoteric, and you don't have to worry about anything being lost in translation, because he's English speaking.
